Chapter 8

"So Raven said all of that? Wow, this information is a huge lump that's hard to swallow." Ria awed as we walked on our way home.

"Tell me about it." I said sighing. "Aren't you like, scared or something? The whole deity thingy??" I added.

Ria shrugged. "I'm surprised not scared. Besides it's really cool. Zelan is also a deity, our kids will be deities too." She grinned and I shook my head.

"Is marrying Zelan all you ever think about? Plus, I don't think your children can be deities. You're human." I said.

"Tch! you don't always have to be a joy killer." She rolled her eyes.

"I was just being honest." I shrugged.

"But seriously tho, what's with you dying? Who's coming to get you?" Ria probed.

"I dunno....the grim reaper?" I muttered and sighed.

Ria smacked my arm.

"Ow!" I hissed.

"Be serious! So I can know when I'll come and pick up some of your good stuffs before you die."

"Wow, what are great and supportive friend you are Ria." I said with sarcasm dripping in my voice as I hung my arm around her neck and headlocked her.

She choked as she tapped my arm aggressively begging for her life. I finally let her go, dusting my hands with a smirk on face.

"Waaaa.....I'd better be careful around you because at this rate, I might die before you. You might even kill me in my sleep." Ria said rubbing her neck as she glared at me.

"You shouldn't mess with me honey." I smirked and she just rolled her eyes.

"Stupid." She muttered.

We finally arrived at the doorstep to my house. I fished for the key in my bag and unlocked the door.

"I'm hungryyyyyyy." Ria whined as she flung her bag in a corner and slumped on the sofa.

"You're always hungry." I rolled my eyes.

(a/n: This was inspired by a Straykids moment when Changbin told Chan he was hungry and Chan was like "You're always hungry" lol imma hop out now( ˘ ³˘)♥)

"Who isn't always hungry. Let's order sandwich." She turned on the sofa and grinned at me.

"With your money right?" I deadpanned.

"Oh come onnnnn. You're the rich oneeeee." She whined, again.

"Ugh, hearing you sound like that is annoying. Alright, I'll pay." I gave her my phone.

"This is why I love youu." She said, beaming widely as she opened the delivery app.

"Because of food?" I chuckled.

"No, because you buy me food. I love whoever buys me food." She grinned and I just shook my head with a small smile on my face.

"I heard Sabrina is going to star in a teenage series." Ria said as she entered the kitchen.

"Sabrina the witch??" I humored and Ria laughed.

"No, although the Sabrina I'm talking about is also a wicked witch. But not that one. I'm talking about Sabrina Heinz." She said as picked up the cup I'd just washed, dried it and placed it in the cupboard.

"I know the Sabrina you're talking about tch. Good for her."

"She should just quit school if she knows she wants to focus on her celebrity life." Ria scoffed.

"Do you want people to start calling her an uneducated celebrity? Although she's not that smart, she still needs to attend school even if she's a celebrity. I said.

"Hmm, I guess. She can't be a celebrity for life, so she needs to at least study and get some degrees."

.

"Exactly."

The doorbell rang, putting an end to our discussion.

"That must be the delivery guy. I'll get it." I said, drying my hands on the napkin.

I opened the door and greeted the delivery guy.

"Hi."

"Miss Jasmine?"

"Yeah."

"Your order." He stretched the food towards me with a polite smile.

Just as I was about to receive the food, I felt a very sharp pain in my chest making me yell in discomfort and doubling over, clutching my chest tightly.

"Oh my! Miss are you alright?!!" The delivery guy moved closer to observe me.

Ria rushed to the door on hearing the noise.

"Jas? are you okay? what's wrong?" Ria asked worriedly as I was still bent over in pain.

"She was going to collect the food when she suddenly yelled and grabbed her chest. Should I call the ambulance?" The delivery explained shakily.

"Yes please."

"Jas, can you stand properly? Where does it hurt? Your chest?"

I shook my head slowly. "It.....hurts....it...hurts....so much." I managed to say.

"I called 911, they're on their way..." I heard the delivery guy's voice fade like he was far from me.

The last thing I could remember was Ria telling me the ambulance was on the way, before I lost consciousness.

*******************

“I’m going to hold you guys responsible for whatever happens to her because I’m sure it’s all because of that marble stuff.”

“Why don’t we let her wake up first.”

“Shhhhhh I think she’s waking up.”

“You woke her up with your loud voice!”

“You’re the one who’s being loud now. Tch!”

“Actually, it’s you two.”

The voices kept getting louder and louder as my eyes opened slowly.

I blinked as I tried to adjust my eyes to the bright lighting.

Antiseptic. Drugs. Baby cries. Footsteps. Ambulance sirens. I was at an hospital.

The smell and sound were very sharp and clear and I felt like my senses became sharper.

“Jas! Hey Jas! You’re awake. Do you remember me?” Ria said as she snapped her fingers in my face and also moved her face closer to mine as she did so.

“Jas? Who’s Jas? Who are you? Do you know me?” I pretended.

“What? You really don’t remember? I’m your best friend!!!” She panicked as her eyes were already getting filled with tears.

Raven and Zelan seemed to know I was tearing because they were snickering behind her.

I burst out laughing. “Of course I know! You idiot. I had chest pain, it’s not like I hit my head or anything dumbass.” I said, still laughing.

“Is this funny? I was worried!” She frowned.

I stopped laughing when I realized she really wasn’t taking the joke.

I cleared my throat. “I’m sorry.” I said meekly.

She sighed.

“How do you feel?” Zelan said, walking closer to the bed.

“Now that you ask, my senses do feel a bit sharper.” I scratched my head.

“Not that. I’m asking about your chest. Do you still feel pains?”

“Oh! Uhhh not really.” I said, rubbing my chest.

“Very well then. I’m going to-“

“Did you say your senses are sharper?” Raven who has been quiet since suddenly spoke, cutting Zelan short.

“Uhm I guess?” I replied.

He walked closer to the bed and moved his face closer to mine a bit. He placed his hand on my chin and moved my head to side checking my neck.

He turned to look at Zelan. “It’s the one.”

“Oh jeez.” Zelan muttered.

“What is it?”

“What is it?”

Ria and I asked at the same time, confused.

“The marble has marked you.” Zelan said simply.

“What marked what?” I was confused.

“The pain you felt earlier was because the marble marking process was complete. There’s a mark on your neck. There should another one one your chest too, where your heart is.” Raven explained.

As he explained, I peeked into my top to check the mark and at the same time Ria also checked my neck.

The mark was really there. Although the mark was very faint, it was still visible. It was a small circular glowing blue mark.

“I don’t see it.” Ria said, still checking for the mark.

“You can’t. We’re the only ones who can see it.” Zelan said.

“And well, other people who are like us.” Raven added.

“Jasmine can see it because she has the marble in her.” Zelan explained further.

“Ohhhh.” Was all Ria said.

“So what’s the reason for the marking?” Ria took the words from my mouth.

“She might be getting some powers.” Raven dropped the heavy rock.

“Emphasis on the ‘might’.” Zelan added.

I was dumbfounded. Different thoughts were running through my mind.

“Oh dear. This might be getting more complicated than we thought.” Ria muttered.

It really might be getting very complicated.
