Chapter 1

Jasmine's POV

"Jasmine!! If you don't get down here now, you'll have to trek to school this morning!!" My mum yelled from downstairs. I'm pretty sure those living three houses away from us could hear her yell.

I quickly threw on my flannel, carried my bag and checked the mirror once more to see if my hair was properly done. After that I opened the door and jogged down the stairs.

"Morning mum, where's dad?" I said placing my butt on the kitchen stool.

"You know, back in the days when I used to school....there was nothing like school buses, we'd finish very early and stylishly wait at the street junction for our school mates whose parents own cars so we can get a lift but you guys are enjoying the advantage of school bus and you're still always late." My mum said as she scrambled around the kitchen, I rolled my eyes.

"God knows how many times you've told that story." My dad said chuckling as he came down the stairs with his briefcase.

"Gosh!!! I know, right?!!" I agreed with my dad.

"You're seriously siding with her uhn?" My mum folded her arms.

"Of course she's my only princess." My dad said and I fanned myself with my hands showing of to my mum.

"You do realize your bus leaves in 10 minutes right?"

"Oh my gosh, I gotta go. Bye guys." I grabbed the paper bag in which my mum had packed sandwich and chocolate milk for me and bolted out of the door.

I checked my watch as I jogged down the street and suddenly stopped when I realized I still had 20 minutes before the bus leaves. Jeez, I can't believe mum fooled me! I unfolded the paper bag and brought out the sandwich and choco milk.

I was hungry and I still had time to eat, I chowed down the sandwich on the way to the Stop and as I got nearer and ate the last piece and threw the paper bag into the garbage bin near the Stop.

I sat down on the bench waiting for the bus and gently sipped my Choco milk, then I realized the other kids were staring at me. I stared back.

"What? you've never seen a pretty girl drinking Choco milk before?" I said and they all looked away.

The bus arrived and we all entered, the kids on the bus we're also staring at me. What was wrong? Was there something on my face? I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and dusted my top before I sat down.

I couldn't wait to get down from that bus because I could literally feel everyone staring at me. The bus finally stopped and I rushed down.

Weirdos.

On getting to school, the stares got more intense and I was feeling really uncomfortable with the looks. Sabrina, one of the girls from the CCP approached me in the hallway. [CCP: Cute, Cool, Popular]

"Oh! My! Goshh!!! Jasmine!! your hair looks really pretty! Where did you get it done?" She held my arm and spoke in a fake shrill voice. Ugh! My hair has always been the way it was so what's with her? Drama queen.

"Hehe....Tha...thanks." I replied uncomfortably.

"How about we hang out at your stylist's place this Saturday, the Bill's on me so you don't have to worry." She said while touching my hair for the 5th time.

"Uhh....okay. I have to go now." I said quickly and fled from the scene.

"Quit looking at me, will ya?!!!" I yelled at a group of juniors staring at me. I sighted my best friend Ariana near her locker and walked over to her.

"Sup Ria?" I said casually but instead of getting a normal reply, she stared at me with her mouth wide open and her eyes wide as tea saucers.

"Earth to Ria." I flicked my fingers in her face, snapping her out of her trance. She blinked repeatedly and swallowed.

"Girllll, what did you do to your hair??? I mean, Whyyy??" She finally said something.

"What do you mean? What are you talking about?" I asked confusedly.

She sighed, slammed her locker door, grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the restroom. What is wrong with her? I thought.

We got to the rest room and she turned me towards the mirror. What I saw was shocking.

"My...my....my hair!!! How? How did this happen??" I stuttered and panicked as I touched my hair.

"What do you mean by how did it happen? Didn't you do it yourself?" Ria asked rolling her eyes.

"I didn't, I swear. Why would I even do it?"

I stared at my image in the mirror and it felt like I was looking at someone else who wasn't me.

My pinkish blonde hair......had turned blue. Not fully blue but few strands had turned blue.

"Oh wait!! Now I know why people were staring at me! Even Sabrina approached me!" I said, finally realizing.

"Sabrina approached you??? Wow." She said, still looking at my hair.

"So you said you didn't dye this yourself? And you're sure this isn't some sort of prank?" Ria reasoned.

"I don't live with anyone who'd play this kind of stupid prank." I sighed.

"And you didn't eat anything....like something weird?"

"Well, I ate sandwich made by my mum this morning but that can't make my hair turn blue.....or can it?" Different thoughts ran through my mind.

"Well, you've been eating her sandwich for years so it can't possibly be that." Ria said.

"I swear, I still brushed my hair in front of the mirror this morning and it was normal so how could this have happened?!" Ria and I were still thinking about what could have possibly turned my hair blue when something strange happened.

The blue strands in my hair glowed for about 5 seconds and went back to normal. I almost yanked my hair because my scalp burned as it glowed.

"You saw that, didn't you?" I said to Ria who was still in shock.

"This isn't ordinary Jasmine. This isn't ordinary." She whispered.....
