Chapter 2

Jasmine's Pov

The blue strands in my hair glowed for about 5 seconds and went back to normal. I almost yanked my hair because my scalp burned as it glowed.

"You saw that, didn't you?" I said to Ria who was still in shock.

"This isn't ordinary Jasmine." She whispered.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What are you taking about?" I asked.
"I'm telling you this isn't ordinary. It's more than we know!!" Ria replied.
"Wow Ria Sherlock, you didn't tell me you were into supernatural stuffs." I rolled my eye.
"You idiot!" She smacked my head.
"Ouch. that's assault." I pouted and she rolled her eye.
"What if it's a disease or something? Because your hair can't suddenly turn blue out of nowhere. Unless you actually dyed it just to prank me." She ran her hand through my hair, examining it.
"I didn't dye it. Like, why would I even do it. My mum would kill me." I demonstrated a neck slice.
"Well we better find something to do about it." Ria sighed and I did the same.
The bell for the first period rang and we both sighed again.
"You should be thankful the school doesn't Care about our hairstyle and all. Let's get to class first and we'll talk about this later." Ria said as she headed for the door.
"Wait, don't you think I should cover this? in case it glows again." I said running my hands through my hair..
"But we don't have anything to cover it with."
I sighed.
"Fine let's go." And we both left for Biology.
I almost forgot we had practical in Biology. As soon as we arrived at the lab, the teacher took our attendance and the practical commenced.
"Pair up with your partners now. The lab coats, gloves and masks are in the cabinet. Get yours and stay with your partner in your section. Do that fast!" Our Biology teacher gave out instructions.
We all scampered around taking the things we needed and finally settled down. The specimen we were to practice on were toads. Each team had a toad.
"I'll dissect it." I told Ria and she nodded.
I picked up the scalpel and just when I was about to start, something shot out of my hands and zapped the specimen. I dropped the scalpel in shock. I quickly looked around to see if any one noticed it and thankfully, everyone was too busy with their specimens to even notice.
I look at Ria and she gave me the "What the hell was that" look.
"I don't know how it happened." I whispered.
"We need to get out of here before the teacher notices that the specimen in BURNT!" She whisper-yelled back.
"What excuse are we to give for leaving?" I whispered back, looking out for the teacher.
"Watch me." She said and smirked. Oh no, she's up to no good.
All of a sudden, Ria dropped to the floor holding her head and crying in pain. I was shocked at first but as soon as I realized what she was doing, I almost laughed but I held it in so as not to blow our cover.
"Oh my God!! Ria! are you okay?" I said, playing along.
"My.. my...my head hurts. A lot." She said in a shaky voice that seemed to believable.
The teacher rushed to our side and quickly asked me to guide her to the school clinic. Our plan worked!!!
She gave us the pass and I helped Ria out. Halfway away from class, we dropped the act and did a little dance to celebrate our success. When we got near the school clinic, we put on the act again. We met the school nurse outside the clinic.
"Oh! Miss Maggie, we were just coming to you. My friend is sick." I said to the nurse.
"Do come in. What's wrong with her." She said as she helped me place her on the bed.
"She complained about her head."
Miss Maggie moved closer to Ria and touched her head.
"She looks okay tho. But the headache is probably due to stress. She just needs to rest." She said.
"I can stay with her right?" I asked.
"Do you have your teacher's pass?" She asked and I brought it out and showed her. She nodded.
"Well, I have to go somewhere real quick, I'll be back soon." She said and rushed out. I looked at Ria who was still acting. I smacked her head.
"Drop the act dummy, she's gone." I said and she opened her eyes and sat down with her back on the wall.
"What do you think? I should go into acting?" She smirked.
"Oh yeahhh indeed. And you really need to stop smirking, you look like a psychopath when you do that." I chuckled.
"Whatever." She rolled her eyes. "What happened back there???"
I looked down at my hands and shook my head negaative. "I don't know Ria, I don't know."
"Wait, the stuff that shot out of your hands was blue in color, do you think it has something to do with your hair? I mean think about it, it never happened before until your hair turned blue." Ria said as she stood up and paced around.
"Does this mean I have superpowers?" I gasped.
"Dummy. All we need is to find a way to cover your hair because of aunt and uncle." She suggested.
"That won't be a problem, they're going to be out of the country tomorrow anyways." I shrugged.
"Really? The both of them? For how long?"
"Hmm...maybe a month. As for my mum, she has to go for a degree program in Australia and it's my dad's period of unlimited research so he's going to step foot in at least 3 different countries. So we'll have a lot of time to find out whatever is happening to me." I explained.
"Then that's nice!!" Ria said happily.
"How about we go to my mum's cafe after school to get some Boba? Call?"
"Call!!!" We highfived.
***********************************
School was finally over and it felt like I was just released from the prison. Ria and I went to the salon and got my hair dyed to it's normal color.
Not before avoiding the stylists question on the shade of blue I used to dye my hair. She claimed to have never seen such a strange shade of blue before but we just waved off the question with an awkward laugh.
But isn't blue just blue?
After doing that, we headed to my mum's cafe.
Yes, my mum owns a cafe and it was opened for future purposes. She went there with dad and monitored the activities In the cafe often. And as for me, I go there whenever I like, eat and drink for free.
On getting to the cafe, at the entrance of the the cafe was Cindy and Kenna, two of the workers trying to fix a light bulb.
"Cindy? Why are you the ones fixing the bulb? What about the guys?" I asked.
"We got new goods delivered so they're loading the storage. Kenna and I decided to change the flicking bulb before it gets dark." Cindy explained as she struggled to put in the bulb.
"Come down let me do it." I said giving my bag to Ria.
"Oh my God, thank you." Cindy descended the ladder.
"I'm thirsty, I'm getting something to drink." Ria said going into cafe.
"Aiit, I'll meet you inside." I said as I climbed the ladder.
I fixed the bulb and just as I was about to get down from the ladder, my eye caught something....no, I mean Someone across the street. He was with someone and he was staring right at me. Weird.
I was about to get down from the ladder but I missed a step. It was like I was an overly edited super hero movie. The fall was slow and it was like I was falling from a tower when I was only falling from an eight step ladder tch.
Okay but, was this really it? Am I going to fall to my death??? Now??? I haven't even had my first kiss yet!!!
I shut my eye tight, waiting for my head to hit the ground, but it didn't. Instead, someone caught me in their arms! Phew! I didn't hit my head. I looked up to see who caught me, it was the guy staring at me From across the street.
Embarrassed at my own self, I set myself free from his arms and looked around to see if anyone had seen me fall.
My eyes widened, everyone and everything around me was frozen. Cars weren't moving, the birds weren't flying, people weren't moving and everywhere was eerily quiet.
"What the heck is happening?????" I thought
