Chapter 3. Stalker

"Didn't you say earlier, that he's always staring at me?"

"That's right." When Selena turned around, she clearly saw Aidan watching Katie's figure. But this... nor could he prove he secretly loved her.

"That's right then!" Katie clenched her fists, staring into the distance. She gritted her teeth, speaking word by word, at a slow pace, "Rest assured, I'll deal with him!"

Yet Aidan was still standing like a statue on the basketball court. His eyes were still looking in a distant direction, then suddenly drooping. He's really crazy!

"That sour little one, dare to get in the way of my worthwhile sight. Every time I run into her, I'm unlucky."

The next morning, while waiting for the bus, Katie still had some deep thoughts. If Aidan really loved her, he would probably have cared for a long, long time. Had he not approached her when they were in high school? This, too, seemed very much likely.

Remembering the time when they were in high school, while waiting for someone to bring a large bottle of water to the gymnasium, Katie could not help but suggest:

"Hey guys, isn't Aidan being a lazy ass? Then the rest of us should also elect one or two people to carry this water bottle."

Maris was a beautiful girl, but not much strength. Seeing Katie's demeanor was not pleasing to the eye, nor was she afraid to rebut:

"If you're good, carry it then. But if you choose one of us girls, no one can carry that 20-liter bottle of water."

As the group leader, Katie just wanted to do her duty. If there really was not a boy in this class who was brave enough to shoulder this enormous responsibility in every gymnasium, then the one who made the sacrifice had to be her. She would take on this responsibility.

Therefore, after that, the group gaped and watched as Katie carried a 20-liter jug of water over her shoulder, staggering down the classroom hallway. Maris saw the scene, felt herself a little too much, did not say a thing and rushed out to the gymnasium, calling a bunch of boys to help her. Katie's temperament was well known. She either did nothing at all, or did everything by herself. Whoever touched her was glared at by her, pushing back to the side.

Seeing Katie's ferocious gaze, Aidan did not dare rush forward. Yet no one knew what would happen after. While he was trying to reduce his existence, trying to absorb his large, striking body into the crowd, a boy in the class suddenly stepped forward to draw him, pushing him in front of Katie. Well, he knew that this mission was his today.

“Aidan, hurry up and help the group leader!”

"Hell no! Get out of my way!" Katie really could not handle the guys who obstructed her work. She hated that boy Aidan who was standing in front of her. If he knew what to do, he should just hide. He should have never waited until she was almost done then decided to offer a hand.

Aidan saw this situation, suddenly letting out a sigh. He took a few steps, using coercive force to hold onto the large pitcher of water, whether Katie agreed or not. He, thanks to his tall superiority, quickly lifted the water bottle, placed it back on his shoulder, then steadily walked forward.

His footsteps carried immense force, completely different from her trembling, drunken steps.

Aidan’s voice echoed:

"I’ll help you. No need to be shy!"

That time, Katie really just wanted to scold him off for real. Nonetheless, today's work was all his anyway. However, now that she thought about it, she was a little happy in her heart.

"So he doesn’t say what he truly means after all. He’s been paying attention to me for so long; he can’t deny it." Katie thought as she smiled wickedly. Momentarily turned herself into a goofy one.

"Who’s been paying attention to who?"

She just never knew; she wasn't careful to speak her mind, then she was overheard by someone else. At the end of the flashback, Katie seemed to be beaten back to a cruel reality. But, apparently... who heard her words... the one who just spoke up... was the main character of that same story.

“Aidan.”

Aidan "hey" as a greeting, then approached her making a snarky pose, asking:

"I didn't expect someone like you to notice. That one you mentioned must have been... a monk for three lives before meeting you, right?"

Look, he's definitely complimenting himself!

Oh really, what a shameless guy.

But what did he mean, someone like her?

Aidan seemed to understand Katie's probing gaze, and quickly said:

"A gorgeous, one-of-a-kind person like you, shouldn't you choose your date a little carefully? Don't let yourself suffer too much!"

With that said, Aidan could not help but laugh. Then always reminded her to be careful, safety first. But yesterday, he was still a little angry. If it wasn’t for her blocking his way, he would have been able to fully see the beautiful Mina Swith's face.

But Katie had misunderstood, even more than ever. Seeing Aidan's concerned demeanor, she could tell he loved her.

She had always been extremely offensive to someone like Aidan. He was good, smiling at everyone like a sunshine, happy to be sociable, but to her he always showed a look of disgust. And she, to him, was nothing more than half friend, half enemy. So, if he really liked her, it seemed like she could just let him go and find someone else.

"Oh, this guy is so... Why fall in love with flawless girls like me!"

This gorgeous lady must cry!

Ever since she knew Aidan liked her, Katie's mind was in the clouds. She did not know how to turn him down. To put it bluntly, it would make him self-conscious, miserable and unable to trust love again. And if the strings did not end forever, it would only cause him to get into a swamp, forever unable to escape.

But no love meant no love at all. No one could lie to themselves that they loved one, and hated the other. Despite this, there were some people who still refused to face reality, or wonder if they loved her or him.
