Chapter 2. Are you afraid of contact with me?

The class leader stiffened his throat, not bothering to speak anymore. He returned to his former position, sipping his wine.

Aidan's mind was confused. Aidan had someone he liked?

Katie glanced at Aidan, suddenly met his eyes. Everyone here was a high school friend. They probably would not know about that embarrassment in college, right? At best, they only knew about the clash of the two seniors of high school. So the person the class president was referring to, was not Katie.

Aidan had a love interest…

Katie was alone again, and when she looked back, she lost sight of Aidan anywhere else, and suddenly there was a hint of unknown sadness in her heart. Without leaving Katie to wait long, a deep voice suddenly entered her ear:

“Finding me?”

Katie turned around unintendedly. Aidan smiled at her, his face almost in the blink of an eye causing her to fall backwards in a panic.

"You... you..."

Aidan shrugged, "There's room by your side."

That’s why he came here?

Right! The girls had been crowding Aidan's seat since the beginning of the session. By the time he got to this side, the opposite side was still tangled.

Still, Aidan's squeezing did scare Katie a little.

Aidan was wearing a white shirt, and when he came back it was terribly creasy. The fun was over in the blink of an eye, and everyone was scheduled for another meeting on another occasion. Katie silently shook her head in disbelief, feeling that everyone’s presence today was already an overjoy.

Aidan was still fumbling with the big guys on the other side, occasionally glancing over at Katie who was being persuaded by her classmate to take her home. Aidan looked annoyed, his fists clenched. He smiled no at his friend, then confidently strode over to Katie, getting straight to the point:

"Let me take her back."

Despite the words he said to his male classmate, Aidan's gaze remained fixed on Katie's face. He did not care if the other guy had good or bad intentions with Katie. It was just that he was annoyed to see the two mad people in front of him dragging back and forth.

That's right! That's it.

Katie was unnatural, especially when Aidan looked at her like she was appreciative little by little. She bit her lip, determined to refuse:

"No need. I can go home on my own."

The male classmate gave a wry smile. Of course, Aidan was not planning on letting go of Katie either, the corners of his mouth raised high, letting out a fatal sentence:

"Is it... you're afraid to come into contact with me because you're scared of falling in love with me again?”

***

Many years ago…

In the autumn sky of October, Aidan had met someone he had been lingering with for a lifetime.

She was in front of him. Almost right in front of his eyes.

"Katie, you’re here too?"

Selena rushed over to Katie, gave her a pained pat on the shoulder, and slumped down beside her. Katie looked at her, not bothering to hide a glance, and grumbled:

"Is it necessary every time we meet to scream each other's names like this? What if we meet someone we know here? That would be so embarrassing.”

Selena held her stomach with a long laugh. Katie's words were really nonsense. They called each other’s names, so what? It was not at night, nor were they followed by the devils. However, when she suddenly turned her head, she unexpectedly saw a guy staring at the two of them. She did not dare look long, turned her head, and whispered loudly to Katie, "Looks like we’ve really met an acquaintance!"

Katie was holding the book in her hands, wanting to throw it to the ground so badly. She peeked through the back of her head, not daring to judge anything. The moment she met the other's gaze, she was a little intimidated.

“Aidan Jonas!”

"What? You really know him?" Selena wanted to look at him for a moment but was pulled away by Katie. The two seemed to encounter something terrible, threatened with death.

Until they came to a large tree, Katie pulled Selena to sit down and rest a little. But she did not understand how she was being pulled away by her at all. Still unable to exhale, Selena pretended that she was about to strangle her friend.

Katie did not only push her away, she wanted to squeeze her own neck, using Selena’s hands. She really wanted to die.

"Hey, calm down a bit!" Selena was threatened by Katie, pushing her hands away, holding her shoulders tightly again, forcing her to look her in the eye.

Katie looked like she was in a panic, like she was being extravagant. She stared at Selena, mouth agape:

"I knew it right away! That guy clearly loves me. Otherwise, how come he always follows me!"

“Huh?”

Selena was a little shaken, and hurriedly released her hand, letting go of Katie's rough shoulders. She could not help but ask again:

"Who? The guy earlier?"

Katie blinked, "Yes, it's him. That person always follows me around. Or creates unexpected encounter situations. Or will always help me when I'm carrying heavy stuff... Don't you feel that way? He loves me... I am certain of it."

"Oh!" Selena's eyes widened and she asked again, "And you know him?"

They were indeed acquaintances. They used to be high school friends actually. Both were in the same class. But Katie could not tell Selena this. Otherwise, she would have screamed and painted a tragic love story.

Selena, who had known Katie for a year now, really had never expected her to be such a fantasist. Was it possible to have that kind of delusion that other people liked you?

There was one thing though, Selena did not dare to say it out loud, she could only choose her words a little cleverly.

"Are you sure? Isn't that just a coincidence?"

Katie made sure she was not overdoing it. Those encounters, how could it be said to be just by chance.
