“Nikolay, you don’t have to do this” I said taking a step back not wanting to go down the stairs. I knew that Nikolay was furious with everyone. Yes, I was hurt, a lot. But him going against his mother for me was not something that I could accept.

Nikolay didn’t stop, he brought my hand closer to his lips and softly kissed my knuckles before pulling me to walk down with him. I didn’t want to face Mia, I couldn’t blame her for what happened, though I actually knew that me losing the baby was partly due to her fault. She had reminded me of a past that I tried so hard to forget, and what killed me was that she dared lay a hand on me when I knew that she never did it to her own kids.
