Love in the wheat field

I woke up this morning with a migraine. Aaron doesn’t care that I have to be up this early for work. Since he is the boss he can stay up as late as he wants and party. I hate that it’s come to me working for my brother. After taking some medicine for my head, I hopped in the shower and got ready to start the day. As I was fixing my breakfast, Aaron informs me that he hired a new wheat handler. I am to collect all his paperwork and get him into the system.

“Why can’t you get your girlfriend to do it? You know I don’t like talking to the new guys you hire.”

“Listen Skyla, I promised Mom and Dad I would take care of you and Dad’s wheat fields. You are part of this family and you are going to work for the business like I do. Jenna is asleep and is sore. I don’t want to wake her so you are going to do it.”

“Sore? Never mind I don’t want to know. Fine, I’ll do it but I swear if this guy starts hitting on me like the last, I’ll quit.”

“Whatever. Hurry up and eat. He will be here at 8:30.”

I finished making my breakfast and sat down at the table. Aaron went back to bed and I rolled my eyes at what he said to me. He didn’t promise Mom and Dad crap. He knew if anything happened to them, he would take over and would get all the money my parents had. I still remember everything from the day it happened.

“Aaron wake up! AARON!”

“What in the hell are you screaming and banging on my door for, Skyla?”

“I-I-it’s bad Aaron. M-m-mom and dad.”

“What about them? They will be home soon.”

“No, they won’t. Aaron, the hospital 2 towns over just called and informed me that there was a bad accident, and Mom and Dad didn’t make it.”

“What in the hell are you talking about? Stop f*cking with me Skyla!”

“I’m telling you the truth, Aaron! Mom and Dad are dead! They were in a bad accident and they didn’t make it! Call the hospital if you don’t believe me!”

End of flashback…)

It’s been 2 years since they were killed in that accident and Aaron thinks he has the right put me to work in the family business just because they aren’t here. I can’t wait until I have enough money saved to get the hell away from him. Mom and Dad would have never made me do something I didn’t want to do. After I finished eating, I grabbed the laptop and got everything ready to put the new guy into the system. I sat back at the desk and waited for him to show up.

He is late! It’s 8:45 when I see a black pickup pulling up to the house. The truck door opens and my mouth drops. Holy f*ck! He isn’t an old perv like the rest of them. He is young and looks close to Aaron’s age or even younger than him. He knocked on the door and I let him in without saying a word.

“Sorry I am late, Ms.Doughty. I got lost trying to find the house.”

“I-it’s ok um..”

“Caeleb, Caeleb War.”

“It’s ok Caeleb. Now I need the packet my brother gave you to fill out and I need to get a copy of your driver's license, and social security card and do a background check on you.”

“Yes, ma’am. I did inform your brother when we spoke that I do have a bit of a record. He knows what for and told me it wasn’t a problem.”

“I’ll confirm that with him as soon as I get a chance.”

“Yes, ma’am I understand.”

“Good lord you make me sound a lot older than I am calling me ma’am. My name is Skyla.”

“I understand, Skyla.”

I turned when he said my name and my cheeks began to burn. I won’t lie and say he isn’t attractive because let’s face it, he is freaking hot!
