CHAPTER 2: He Gave Her The Room

I don’t know what’s happening anymore.

Normally, the people in the pack are quite predictable. I impress them by continuous victory and they cheer me up on it.

But the moment I saw their intense gaze locked on Raine. I knew something in this pack would start to act differently. I know my life would start to rotate in a different path.

I’m fairly sure Calvin and I would rule this pack side-by-side and I even dreamed so forwardly as to how we’re going to raise childrens together.

Never have I ever thought that his mate would someday barge in his life — our life, because I was certain he would choose the love blooming between the both of us.

I know I would.

I can resist some matebond just to be with him.

Unfortunately, he cannot.

After what happened, all I could do was flash an awkward smile at the crowd’s hostile stares.

Before I could even explain further that I really don’t have any ill-intention towards Calvin’s mate, Raine once brought the attention to herself by announcing to everyone that she’s tired and would love to rest after everything that has happened.

It was the first and most likely the last thing I would be thanking her for sucking the attention to herself because if she does more in the future, I don’t think I will be able to stand still like what happened earlier.

“Luna, it’s me, the Gamma.” I instantly stood up from being laid out all tired on the bed before doing a quick check of my hair and appearance in the mirror.

When I was all set, I elegantly sit like the Luna that I am before clearing my throat,

“Come in.” I announce.

The door opened revealing the huge build of our Gamma — Penston Pack’s pride. He nods a short greeting.

He must be here for some pack problem. He has never approached me like this on purpose without having to report an emergency.

“It is time for your dinner.” he trailed off.

My eyes grew wide at his trivial response. He's simply here to tell me to dine?

“Where are the Omegas? Why are you here reporting such trivial matters to me?” I furrow my brow at him and he gradually looks at me with anxious eyes, rubbing his nape.

“They . . . must have forgotten, Luna. They were way too preoccupied from serving . . . the Alpha’s lady.” He stuttered.

I was frozen solid throughout his sentence.

They forgot to inform their own Luna to eat to serve a newcomer? If the Gamma didn’t come to remind me to have dinner, I wouldn’t have thought of even eating as I was too tired from the battle earlier.

And I was lost in thought . . . and jealousy.

Shock overcame me before my blood curled from my insides, boiling in anger as it got hotter and hotter and hotter.

My canines was starting to fight itself out, so I sucked in a breath to stop myself from lashing out in front of the Gamma.

Perhaps I’m the wrong one here. I should try to understand Calvin and his decisions even if it’s too sudden. Maybe the girl, Raine really had way too much after everything that has happened that he eventually was forced to require every single omegas to tend to her.

“Luna?” I raised my eyes and loosened my grip on the bed sheets I didn’t even know I was holding tightly. I flashed him a small smile.

“It's alright, I’m going to go down now. Is the Alpha already downstairs?” I asked and he nodded, dismissing himself when I remembered something.

“Wait!” I exclaimed before he could even close the door. He peaked from where he was standing and waited for any of the words that would come out of my mouth.

And what I said was probably not what he was expecting at all.

“Where was Lady Raine situated right now?”

He froze from the door and looked at me with disturbed worry glinting in his eyes.

No, not him too . . .

“I’m not going to do anything . . . bad to her.” I assured and he still doesn’t look convinced but told me where she was anyway.

“In the rosemary room, Luna.”

What?

“Are you sure?” my hand was already shaking in anticipation and anger and everything building up inside me.

How can he place her where her mother once resided when she was breathing blood and life? No one could reside in that room, no one has ever resided in that room even the highest of all that has visited in this pack.

Yet . . . Yet . . .

I nodded at the Gamma and he was out at the speed of light. I prepared myself to come down, patching some make up from my vanity before lavishly placing some jewelries on.

I actually bought new ones from the market which is said to be one of the Alpha King’s newest investments.

The Lycan monarchy is growing and getting wealthy as years pass by with successful heirs to the throne and the largest territories they conquered by the second.

They even attacked the lands of the orcs and have now expanded the werewolf power through enslaving such creatures for military as well as work power in the palace.

I wonder if I could ever meet the Alpha King himself.

I smile at myself in the mirror before heading out.

The Rosemary room, huh.

Maybe she really needs extra care to function. She after all went through the traumatic scene of having her parents and the entire, unyielding pack members slaughtered before her eyes.

I wouldn’t blame her for being so fragile.

And . . . And a mate wouldn’t be able to stand seeing their soul’s counterpart inside a small room or worse, prison.

I guess I also wanted to get to know her. She must be in bed somehow, or if the Omegas were with her, then the possibility of her already eating is quite large.

The vases of Rosemary’s which the late Luna loved instantly caught my senses. It is indeed nostalgic to walk around here. Even more as to remembering her magnificent presence as I once helped her around trimming and beautifying the flowers.

“She's incredibly pretty!” my ears catches up on an Omega’s words as she walks out of the Rosemary room.

I instantly hide behind a wall from their sudden passing.

“I know! The Alpha, as strong as he is, indeed deserves a mate with such beauty!” I suck in a breath trying to calm myself down.

I shouldn’t feel this way, Calvin promised to stay by my side. He just has to have his mate for his wolf. Only for his wolf.

With restlessness, I step out of the wall just in time to be one step away from colliding with the two giggling Omegas.

They instantly stopped at the sight of my presence before bowing.

“Luna . . . I-we weren’t aware you’re coming to visit the lady.” one of them said, head still bowed down.

“Are you aware of the mistake you’ve made today?” I cross both my arms on my chest as they raise their heads to examine my gaze in which I responded with a raised brow.

“I-I we don’t know, Luna.”

“Ha!” I wasn’t able to stifle the sarcastic laugh which unconsciously came out of my own mouth. I would have let it slide if they remembered. Afterall, reminding me to eat isn't that much of a deal.

But if you cannot entrust one simple job on a person, then surely you cannot entrust them with bigger ones.

“You forgot to remind me for dinner.” I mumbled and they stiffened from my words.

I was known to be strict at all times. But no one actually corrected it since I only exude such an attitude whenever they are actually on the wrong side.

This is not power tripping.

“I—we’re extremely sorry! We completely forgot. The Alpha—”

“I know.” I stopped the both of them from stuttering their breath out.

“I’ll let it slide this time. I’m calling the lady for dinner. Everyone should take a break. You all worked hard.” I rub my forehead, quite frustrated from all the emotions I’m feeling right now.

They opened the door for me before calling the others who have assisted the lady who’s sitting there.

In front of the vanity as she tries on—

No fucking way.

She's trying on the jewelries the late Luna kept safe in her own vanity!

“Your ears are glittering, Luna!” a memory flashed before my eyes as I see my six-year-old self on the Luna’s lap.

“Here.” she mumbles in her sweet voice, attaching the other earring on my pierced ear.

The feeling of excitement both from the heaviness of the other side of my head, as well as the fact that it was her own things yet she placed them on me was still burning in my heart after all these years.

“I want you to wear these to your wedding. I’m sure you will be Calvin’s mate.” she said before landing a kiss on my ting forehead while I giggle in front of her vanity mirror.

That's mine!

It was always mine.

As if darkness surrounded the entirety of my sight, my blood began to once again boil.

I clench my fist before striding towards her. She was about to put on the second one but I took it away from her hand as I flashed the most decent smile I could muster to do despite the urge to pull her hair and slap the wits out of her.

I grip the earrings tightly yet not enough to ruin it.

“Please do not touch the former Luna’s things . . .” I mumble with clenched teeth.

She stared at me bewildered before her polite features morphed into something different and her eyes twinkled with what looked like annoyance before it quickly fell to a distressed, sad expression.

“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I wasn’t aware of how I was way too naive to even touch such delicate stuff! I—I . . .” she suddenly trailed off way too fast even I wasn’t able to grasp what she’s trying to say or do.

And why is she doing it way too loudly?

As if someone would hear her pleas . . .

“What—”

“Miss Raine!” the door busted open and most of the Omegas rushed towards the crying Raine. One of them even bumped me in the process yet no one noticed.

They haven’t left the entire time? They must have heard me saying something about the earrings! They know these are extremely precious to me!

The entire room and every single thing here is!

“I didn’t—I didn’t know . . . I thought it was okay to do that!” she said before the Omegas looked for what she meant and their eyes landed on her incomplete pair of earring hanging from one of her ears.

And they followed the trail on my hand.

All of them narrowed their eyes at me, burning with scorn yet I was left speechless standing as I watch her emotions change so subtly.

“You—” I was about to point out how she’s faking it all when one of the Omegas spoke up.

“Luna! It was merely an earring. You should have thought of the lady merely being interested on it.” One of them said,

I was in power.

I know I am.

But if I cannot defend nor even find something to prove I am worthy of such power, then I cannot wield it.

And in this situation, I don’t know how to even defend myself because perhaps I was wrong.

Perhaps she was really curious and thus, simply wants to try it on.

Maybe, Raine thought since this room was given to her, she is entitled to touch all things placed in this room.

And maybe . . . maybe I was overreacting.

Yet, I still want to defend what’s given to me. This was from my second mother and I’m the only one who got to try it on.

“This—This was given to me by the former Luna, and I refuse to let anyone touch it.” I responded back and the oldest Omega instantly rushed to rub her forehead in annoyance.

“What are you talking about, Luna?”

“What?” I was taken aback by her confidence.

“Such ignorance, the Alpha himself told Miss Raine that everything in here is hers.” she said before turning back to Raine who was now hiccuping and even stole a glance at my reaction.

Calvin said that? That everything here is hers? But—but . . .

“Hey, look!” The memory of me bragging to Calvin the earring which the Luna herself attached to my ear, flashed in my mind.

“What? that’s mother’s!” he snapped and I smirked at his eight-year-old face.

“I gave it to her, son. Afterall, she will be your mate, isn’t that right?” the Luna behind me placed her hand on my tiny shoulders. My cheeks instantly reddened.

“Hmp! Okay, I’ll let it go. Since she’s going to be my mate!” he untangled his crossed arms on his chest before patting my head.

“My only mate!”
