CHAPTER 5: Are You Jealous?

THE gooey texture of the soup never failed to fulfill my needs of satisfaction at this very moment. It didn’t flow fast nor too slow on her lowered head. Its speed was good enough for it to cover every strand of her annoyingly coloured hair. Its slimy consistency was enough to know that if it didn’t look right on her hair, then it definitely wasn’t supposed to taste good.

A smirk slowly plastered on my face as she shivered right in front of everyone. The pack warriors were about to hastily close the door to avoid any audience seeing, but one glare from me and they stood rigid in their spot, holding the door open.

Everyone has to see this.

I run my index finger on her hair before bringing it to my mouth for a taste. I cringed before smirking.

“I’m off to bed. I don’t think I like the taste of the food. I hope you do though, considering you’re . . . covered in it.” I smiled before turning around, but of course, not until Calvin’s growl stopped me.

Of course, the knight in shining armor.

“What have you done?!” he shouted and I turned to look at him, raising my brow. I erased every single emotion on my face and slowly walked up to him.

“See this, Alpha?” With my gaze not leaving his, just a few inches separating the both of us with Raine beside us, I ran my finger on her shivering head, the sticky texture of the soup once more slithering in my fingers.

“Maryna . . .” he gritted his teeth at me, his eyes screaming both frustration and his warning.

With the hand I touched Raine’s hair with, I slithered it down on his face, touching his lips with my thumb soaked in the soup his mate brought me.

He was still keeping his gaze straight at me while I stared at his lips, slowly, I slipped my finger in, feeling his tongue tasting my finger.

“See how that tastes?” I sarcastically asked before taking it out and taking one step back. Raine was already staring at us, eyes wide.

She and her wolf must have felt the pain that the bond would feel whenever another potential partner touches their mate, and I’m fairly sure she wants nothing more than to sink her canines in my neck and kill me.

“You know I never liked soy sauce.” I seductively mutter at Calvin’s ear before leaving the room.

As I heard the door’s banging sound as it was already shut close, my knees gave up. All the care I had in the world disappeared as I wept, my back still facing the two pack warriors.

I kept my cries low. Everyone was inside, so aside from these two warriors which I’m certain aren’t going to utter a word, I don’t have to worry about anyone seeing me.

The tears simply fell, and I was unable to stop every single drop cascading down my cheeks.

It was a pathetic move, I know. Yet at that moment, I saw Raine’s face shivering in fear of me. I felt the feeling of authority seeping. The feeling of comfort, as though I was still better than her

Something I haven’t felt in an incredibly long time the moment she stepped foot in this pack and had the entire members all wrapped around her little finger.

Yet, at the end of it all, it was still a pathetic move.

Nothing but a pathetic move that will put an addition to the crack that was forming between me and Calvin.

Is this really what falling in love feels like?

I wish I had never been curious about it.

I wipe my tears, standing back up on my feet before getting back in my room.

It wasn’t long as I was sitting in my vanity that a knock on my door woke me up from my daze. I announced an audible ‘come in’ and the Omega entered.

“Quinn.” I call her name. She’s the only remaining person on my side in this pack. A loyal Omega willing to do what I want. Even if it involves assassinating someone, though I have never ordered her to do something as close to that . . . yet.

“What are your plans for the upcoming ball, Luna?” she asked. I saw her figure from the mirror of my vanity while I kept the brush stroking down my hair.

“I plan to sing like always.” I replied and a smile beamed on her face. Of course.

“Will you be retaining your authority on the event?” she once more asked. I pull one of the drawers open, taking the notes I have carefully and passionately composed throughout the recent months.

My song will be perfect.

So much that they’re going to remember who rules beside the Alpha.

It’s me.

It will always be me.

-

“Have you heard the new song?”

I punch the sack once more—with stronger force this time, leaving a huge hole and puncturing it open, the sand inside gushing out of its skin. The wood which it was hanging on almost fell on the grass.

I wipe the sweat beading off my face before looking at the Omegas babbling to themselves. “What is this all about?” I raise my brows in a brooding manner, wiping the cascading sweats on my neck.

They can’t just bother me while I train and not utter a single thing about it.

The two raised their gazes at me, their eyes wide all in surprise, horror, and fear. I smirk before drinking some water. The noon-time sun was already high up the sky, brightening the entire field I was in.

Pack warriors were training in a notable distance from me, signaling my authority, position, and above all, their respect.

“L-luna!” I raise my brow once more at their annoying stuttering, temporarily placing the towel on my shoulder. I crossed my arms at them and growled so suddenly, causing them to suddenly shriek and took a step back.

“Tell me.” I mutter.

The other elbowed the other Omega and though hesitant, she stepped forward.

“T-the Luna—I mean, the Alpha’s mate, Lady Raine . . . had c-created a song.” she mumbled, fiddling with her fingers. My eyes widened and all my attention heightened at what they said.

Oh no no no.

“For what?” I snapped and they instantly flinched.

“T-T’was said that she-she w-will be s-singing in the up-upcoming b-ball, Luna!” she gathered her courage before lowering her gaze once more.

The other Omega behind her seems as though by simply listening to the conversation between me and her friend, she was already going to faint.

A song huh?

she’s going to sing a fucking song?

“Where is she?” I asked, voice low. They just have not heard me or fear has swallowed them up, but I raised my voice.

“I said where are they?!” I shouted and they instantly ran, probably to lead me to the answer I was looking for.

And I was right.

There she was in the garden, sitting on a bench with all the omegas flocking around her as she wrote her goddamn song. She looks like an angel, just sitting there in a dress similar to her hair color.

And here I was, in my training outfit, sweaty and rugged.

She does look more like an elegant Luna to me than myself.

I erased the thought and marched towards them, clenching my fist. The hot, mid-day air hits my face for every step I take. This or I was boiling up in anger.

“What do you all think you’re doing?” I snapped, and like a flock of birds, everyone turned to look and instantly shrieked to step back.

Yet Raine seemed to be too naive to notice that her followers have stepped back to greet the Luna.

And so I took the notepad she was writing on in her hand.

“W-what . . .” she looked up to the thief. I expected her to stand up and be more respectful in acknowledging my presence, yet she didn’t budge from her seat.

“Give me my notes back.”

What?

Her voice was defiant, strong. As though disregarding the person right in front of her.

“What did you just say?” I demanded, the notes crumpling down in my hands. “I said give me my notes back.” she once more peered at me with a vile gaze.

“Ha!” I mumble, raising the notes. “You mean this?” I asked before ripping it in half and crumpling it in my hands. I smirked at her as everyone glared at me, including her.

“You must have sculpted your face thicker knowing the Alpha is your mate. But you can’t be the Luna, Princess.” I cooed the last words to mock her.

I was childish, and it shows.

Oh, how it shows.

“You are not singing in the ball.” I stared at her, peered at her icy eyes with my black ones. This is final.

I was impressed by her strength to remain staring. No one does that. No one should do that especially if you’re merely a pack member against the Luna.

“and I’m sure—” I raise my gaze up where the other Omegas were standing in silence, finding their feet the most pleasant thing to be looking at right now.

“I’m sure someone mentioned I will be singing, and yet you still slithered your way to ruin something for me.” I said before putting her notes on the pocket of my training gears after seeing her looking at it, thinking I’d be throwing it on the ground.

I will be throwing it.

Not here though, where she can still restore it.

“Behave, Alpha’s mate.” I said and was about to walk away when her voice reached my ears.

“Maryna!” she exclaimed. I turned around and arms flailed towards me, hugging me tight. It was Raine and she was crying on me.

What the . . .

“I know you’re upset about what happened last night—I’m sorry for bringing you something that doesn’t suit your taste.” she cried out.

My brows furrowed at her words. The Omegas gaped in awe at her.

‘The Luna ripped her notes yet she does the most unexpected thing—she apologized’

Yes, that kind of rumor is plastered on their faces.

Her hands suddenly ran down my hair and I felt her breath on the tips of my ears. “you’re jealous, right? Is it because Calvin can’t look at you the way he looks at me?” she whispered.

My eyes widened, and I clenched my fist.

This is the real Raine.

And as much as I want to push her vile body off me, I want to hear what more she has to say.

“The Alpha, the Omegas, the pack members. See it? How they’re slowly turning away from you.” She plays with the ends of my strand tied in a single braid that runs from the tip of my head to its tips.

“Watch me,” she whispers, a little closer.

“Why?” there was no point in asking. I know what she wants.

“Watch me take the Luna position away from you.” she said.

And my heart dropped. It instantly dropped. Deep within me, something cowered in fear. Not because she will.

But because I know she can do it.

Well, that took a wild turn . . . - D
