“WATCH me take the Luna position away from you.” I almost shivered in disgust at her breath grazing my ears. My hands instantly found their way pushing her away with brutal force just like the last time.

Though unlike the former, Omegas scurried to hold Raine, preventing her from hitting the ground.

How she got those Omegas on her side so fast these past few days, I would never know.

She muttered a few words of consolation, saying that she’s okay, towards the Omegas surrounding her and they pushed her up.

Her eyes burned with determination and mockery as those icy orbs stared back at my black ones. She was cunning and she knew it. She knows she can take anything away from me in a blink of an eye.

Or perhaps she wouldn’t even have to bat an eyelash for this one. Calvin was bound to give the position to her either way.

I take a step back before stomping on the ground, a groan coming out of my lips before I leave the training field.

she’s definitely not getting what she wants.

Definitely not.

The Omegas never failed to prepare my bath when I came back to my room. After the vile rumors of me punishing and perpetuating Omegas in the pack house, everyone started to pay attention.

Which was why, I was wondering whether it had a good or a bad effect, though it should actually be the latter.

Kruk!

A crunching paper sounding somewhere on my feet took my gaze down the floor. It was a crumpled two-piece paper from the dirty clothes I wore earlier. I place my training attire on the chair before picking it up, a few music notes telling me a hint of what it was.

Raine’s song.

My hand found itself crawling on my mouth in tremor. I chewed on my thumb nail as I sat anxious at the end of the bed.

I don’t see anything high.

Her composition was flawed and . . . perfect.

I could sing this perfectly. I run over my vanity, rummaging under the drawers for the song I was working on for over months now.

I place the papers side by side. Her crumpled and my expensive one. A frown crept its way on my face as I stared at the comparison between the two songs.

Mine was great, perhaps even greater than her song could ever be, yet I can’t bring myself to like it now that I saw Raine’s.

Her music was calming, it did not show any high notes, it was something soothing, as though she was hypnotizing her supposed audience.

Try as I might, I can’t help but find mine to be . . . inferior.

The streaks of my hair were already covering my sight from all the running through and strokes my hand did with it out of stress. I don’t know what to do anymore.

I stare in my vanity mirror. The woman stared back. The woman was plain, its hair though messy laid straight on her shoulders up to her exposed elbows. Black orbs that seem to be the most common in the world stared blankly right back at me.

And then she came in my hindsight.

Her pink hair and her unique blue eyes that could captivate anyone by simply staring at them in a matter of seconds. Her petite body that always seems helpless and a victim—so fit to protect and caress.

The woman in the mirror, compared to Raine, was tall, slender even, yet she seems as though she can take care of herself and is okay to be left alone. She was strong, elegant.

Yet she wasn’t the Alpha’s mate.

My chest crumpled at the evil thoughts running through my head. To label them ‘Evil’ is simply too much, perhaps they were truths. Something I could never grasp.

I had nothing against her, and it shows. It clearly shows.

I sighed, leaving the papers in the vanity. Hers was better. I have high notes and a triggering voice, yet I don’t think any of those would matter if she’s going to sing something that will soothe everyone in the ball.

I groan, throwing myself on the bed, the soft feeling of the mattress slowly easing my heavy thoughts.

I’ll leave everything for tomorrow.

-

“Luna, are you awake? The designer is here.” a short knock disturbed my deep slumber, accompanied by an Omega’s voice.

I groan, sitting up before stretching my stiff muscles, throwing my arms in the air.

The windows are open and the sunshine—as gorgeous as it is, simply reminds me of how another day of suffering excruciating hours with Raine is already ruining my day.

“Lead her to the living room. I will come down after a few minutes.” I announced, humming another yawn.

Making the bed, I washed my face and slipped onto my morning dress. It was a deep maroon with a rugged texture, exuding my usual intimidating aura.

I was something more today. I can’t let her steal some spotlight once more.

I walked out of the room and headed down to where the tailor was already sitting idly. She always looks relaxed and yet today, with her awkward fidgeting of fingers and how she’s looking around as though afraid someone would come out of nowhere and attack her.

She’s acting nervous . . .

“Mrs. Jenkins.” I flash my usual smile, curving my lips up, all the while eyes scanning the person right in front of me.

I threw a glance at the figures behind her. Mannequins wearing ready-made dresses lined up the hall, being a head-turner of pack members as they walked around the living room.

Of course, it’s that time of the year.

Where the Luna once more lavishly tries on customized and expensive wardrobe made especially for her, and her alone.

Mrs. Jenkins hurried to stand up from her awkward posture and smiled—a rather strange smile while beads of sweat trickled down her hairline.

I furrowed my brows yet still urged her to sit down.

“Introduce this year’s designs.” I mumble, sitting down with my right leg crossing the other and leaning back on the soft sofa cushion.

“T-this year, the ball has been moved t-to the rumbling, sunset colored autumn. Thus-Thus . . . I—” she skedaddled to rush over the mannequins she’d brought, placing her best ones like usual in front of me.

I study the three laid out on the unmoving figures. All of them are made of the best cotton and the rough texture I have always requested—which certainly intrigued the others of how my taste differs greatly from the others, was followed obediently.

I stood up from my seat and examined them closely.

“T-that one you’re looking at is a sunset colored dress with a breast-breast line that goes as d-deep as to the middle of the stomach. It is also draped with a c-cape which extends up to two me-meters trailing on the ground, Luna.” Her tremulous voice continued, giving away whatever facade she was trying to hide.

Oh, Mrs. Jenkins.

“These are wonderful.” While still caressing the cape she was pertaining to, I plastered a smile on my face, looking at her eyes which instantly sparked with both happiness due to my appreciation just like her normal reaction to my compliments for years, yet today it was mixed with . . . relief.

“Thank y—”

“But this is not your best ones.” I dropped down my smile, pursing my lips together in a thin line, glaring at her.

And before she could even try to utter another sentence to save herself, I forcibly ripped the cape off.

It lashed off the dress too easily.

I raise the cape looking at it.

It is a nice cape.

Not lovely enough for me though.

“Ah!” I threw the ripped fragment of the dress to her face when she tried to step forward. I turned to the other mannequins and lifted them to the air, and as though my mind wasn’t sane anymore, the mannequins met their ends as it shattered on the living room walls behind her.

“Luna—Luna . . . please!” her plea didn’t reach my ears. Or perhaps it did, yet wasn’t enough to earn her forgiveness though.

I knew it.

I fucking knew it.

“You leech.” I grumble under my breath, my jaw tightening as I stare at her fear-filled gaze, yet regret did not follow.

These dresses are clearly made in haste.

Who knows, perhaps it was simply made last night from its loose fabrics.

“Was it great? How many dresses did you give Her?” her lower lips trembled as I threw everything my hand could land itself on. She was scurrying on the corner and no one—none of the pack members dared to step up and help.

Because they know—well aware even, that when I start to lash out, anyone in the way would get their heads either cut off and hanged on the public market, or have their family and their entire generation extinct.

“I-it’s an order from the Alpha, Luna—I-I can’t just refuse it.” she stood up, hand clenched in a fist though her eyes were still filled with tremor.

Ha! Of course he would do that.

Calvin would give everything I have to his mate. He can even serve it on a silver platter if she dared to want it.

I knew I never had a chance in this.

“Fuck!” My hand found its way on a small flower vase placed on the table in between two huge sofas, I was about to throw it on the side of Mrs. Jenkins when someone came into the picture.

“No!” Raine’s eyelids squinted close as she awaits for the vase to ever land on her face.

Mrs. Jenkins mimicked her move, crouching behind her savior. I stare at the both of them, lips pursed thin, my hand raised with the cold, ceramic vase dropped down on my side.

“Pfft!” a laugh slowly began to stifle from my lips, leaving Raine and Mrs. Jenkins to open their eyelids back up to peer at what happened to the mad dog that it suddenly calmed down.

I glowered at Raine’s get-up. She’s wearing the very dress Mrs. Jenkins proposed to make for me three months ago.

It was a sunny dress, bright and yellow which I requested for her to switch fabrics in red.

I can still reckon how Mrs. Jenkins scrunched her face in a frown after hearing my request. Guess she wanted it to remain in the original design, and now that someone accepted it . . .

Pathetic.

“Hahahaha!” The vase slowly dropped from my grasp and fell on the marble floor, it went down with a loud bang before shards of glass scattered all around the floor, wetting the white tiles from its flower water whilst I was slapping my knees from giggling.

How funny.

Oh, how very funny.

“What . . .” Raine stared at me and a grin remained from my lips as I wipe a small tear falling at the corner of my eye.

“You sure can make someone laugh, Princess.” I smirked. I glared at Mrs. Jenkins and she scurried off Raine’s back and the living room—almost everyone did.

Some hid to still gawk, some courageously remained in their position, most seemed interested.

‘What can actually arise from a fight between the Luna and the Alpha’s mate?’ That’s what was written on their faces.

“You know, Raine . . .”

I take a step.

And another,

And another

and another, closer to her.

Like the courageous goodie-two-shoes that she is, of course she remained still on her spot despite the Luna’s scrutinizing gaze.

“When you weren’t here, everything was actually great. Peaceful even.” I whisper when I was already right in front of her, inches away from her ears.

With a smirk beaming on my face, I play with the ends of her strands. Her cute, pink strands.

So unique, so beautiful, much much better to . . . scalp.

“What are you trying to say?” she gritted her teeth, staring daggers at me with her innocent icy orbs.

Hm, how much of a waste I feel for such good colors of eyes for the owner to be such a bitch.

“What I’m trying to say is . . . drop dead.” I whispered the last two words and grinned.

And she snapped. Much to my liking, honestly.

Her hands found their way on my shoulders, pushing me on the ground where I was standing earlier.

On the glass-littered ground.

Fuck.

The shards from the broken vase started to dig deep on my skin. I was about to arch my back in pain when a voice—an angry voice, came out of nowhere.

“What is happening here?”

Of course, Calvin.

Her Knight in Shining Armor.

“What do you want to do for the day?” I raise my gaze towards Lucius. We’re both in the bed, I was already bathed. You could say we were both clean. He did his best scrubbing my body in that bathroom after all.Yet after what we did last night, he still got some stamina to go for another round. A beast indeed.I smile at him as I bite a piece of steak off my fork. Lucius ordered some Omegas to simply bring in a tray of food.“I’d love to look around your palace more.” I grinned. His brows shot up and turned to me. “Our castle, Maryna.” He muttered, a serious look on his face. I nodded, though not understanding what that actually means. We’re still running through the contract, right?“—and should we go together?” he asked. I roll my eyes, shaking my head. “Who knew the King could be this clingy?” I scoff. He narrowed his eyes on me. “No, I would love to do this myself. You know, familiarize myself with the workers and all.” I shrug. We both agreed and the moment we finished eating, d

  • Loving The Alpha King Instead    CHAPTER 46: Moving On

They say, how are you supposed to grasp the future when you’re still clinging on to the past. It was a quote I’ve always reminded myself of back then. Back when it was peaceful, the dread wasn’t around and we weren’t holding the world on our shoulders. As for my case, when that night never came. Breathe in . . .Breathe out . . .I tried to level my head tinto focus. Shooing the black dots puckering up my vision. Before I knew it, Calvin’s orbs turned into midnight black with worry plastered on it. I was back in the Imperial Pack with Lucius in front of me, holding my shoulders as I sat on top of the table. How did I—“Wh . . . yo . . . hey . . .” His words were blurry. It’s not reaching my ears due to the penetrating sound of something that seems to be ringing. “Maryna!” Lucius’ voice increased and my head went back to where it came from. “W-what?” I muttered, still unconscious. His brows creased as he assessed my features. “Fuck, you’re shaking.” he hissed and took some water fr

The angels and the pre-Richard paintings were glowering at us. Sharing our breaths in front of all the delicacies laid out on the table, remaining untouched. After every single food in here, he chose to feast on me. “That was not even a compliment for me and I am already on the edge, trying to fight the to fuck you on this table.” Lucius whispered beside my ears. The cold air coming from him was radiating on me like a shadow, a smoke, power and a very strong one at that.“The dining is indeed beautiful, I am in no place to lie about that.” I smile at him with a little tease slipping out of my lips. His eyes darkened whilst mine widened. The tease has gone too far! Those midnight black eyes looked down at me with burning lust beneath them. A fire that’s definitely going to hurt. I breathe in to fill the missing air my lungs were reminding me of taking, and Goddess, I shouldn’t have.I can smell the pre-ejaculation cum in the air, inside his pants. The echo of our ragged breaths reve

“I don’t get what you’re trying to say, Dawn . . .” I mutter, scratching the back of my head. Of course, I know what she’s trying to say. But, those who angers you, conquers you, so let’s leave her to that.“You were a criminal, right?” She mumbles. I bite my lip before nodding, putting down the utensils on the side of the plate. “Innocent. I was innocent. There was more to the story than—” “Of course there is.” She exclaimed, smiling at me. I turn to the door, waiting for Lucius and his Beta to come back. Lucius isn’t where he is when he should goddamn be!What am I even thinking?! Dawn means no harm. She’s a close friend of Lucius so mind what you say.“You’re going to be a queen, right? A Queen that was once a criminal, exiled from her pack. How ironic!” she mumbled and I nodded. It’s a truth I’m quite ashamed about, but still a truth nonetheless.“What do you think the council would have to say about this? I mean, it’s like the rags to riches love story.” I raise both my brows a

“Oh! Delta Dawn must have missed the Alpha King’s presence, she’s been going around asking every official when he’s going to come back! It would be the first—” The Omega who’s taking care of my hairstyle blabbered, yet before she could utter one more word, “Shut it.” Beta Duke gritted his teeth as he glared at her. His ice blue eyes were enough to keep my knees tucked in fear that it would be seen quivering. The Omega who’s still holding the hair brush in her hand closed her mouth but was left baffled until her eyes widened in realization.I furrowed my brows at The Imperial Beta’s sudden outburst but stood from the vanity chair nonetheless. I smiled at the now ashamed Omega before following Beta Duke. His back was tense, it was evidently showing but he’s trying to keep his pace right in front of me.He can’t be faster than me, traditions always say that the one who called, will be the one who leads.A small smile crept on my face, it seems to me that the Imperial Pack is filled with

“What’s your name, lady?!” One of the kids eagerly asked. I awkwardly flashed him a smile. “Maryna, I’m Maryna Gauntlet.” I scratch the back of my head before turning to Lucius. He nods to me as if reassuring me that I’m doing great. I smile to myself before heading towards the large castle that’s been waiting behind the large crowd. With Lucius in nothing but shorts, and I, in ragged clothes, the both of us went inside, the imperial warriors separated ways on the doorstep and did their own business of washing up. Maids instantly jumped to my aid while pack members as well as people who looked like council members talked to Lucius about pack business. He just came home, can’t he at least borrow some time to change and clean up from the journey?I forced a smile on my face while the omegas tended to my well-being. I peek at Lucius and they were still talking, the man seemingly reporting about rogue control on the borders. “I’m coming now.” Lucius growled, my eyes widened at him. “W-
