"I can't believe the truth was facing me all this time. The entire cornerstone community is filled with deception. My boyfriend is a wolf, my school mates are witches, there's absolutely no real way i can ever trust the people here. Everyone has a dark identity about them. Now I only have one friend I could trust... My intuition."

Fitting into Lakewood high was never a problem. Everyone knew me before I could even introduce myself. I received endless smiles from people I never even knew. While some showed me hate. I got all the publicity I never wanted, all because a famous boy kissed me on the lips. My favourite crush, a famous pop singer named Hayden. The beeping alarm sounded, I realized that was dreaming. Cornerstone high was an expensive school. I could never afford it. The tuition fees cost the same as my mothers salary. Which is very little. As for Hayden, well he's every teenager's fantasy. Almost 80% of all the girls in my class wish they could meet him face to face and get a kiss or better yet his number. But that's never going to happen. Fantasies are a curse nothing more or so my mother would say. As I was still in my thoughts, I was alarmed by a sudden noise on my window, I thought it was probably a bird. The noise continued, thats when I became suspicious. I realized that the noise was a stone being thrown at my window. There was only one person brave enough to do such an act. I peeked through the window glass and saw my best friend Peter. He was 1.8 whilst I was 1.6 tall. But height difference did not say anything, we got along like ice and gin. I jumped with excitement, as I hadn't seen my bestie for 18 hour's. It felt like an eternity. "Wait for me there, I'm coming!" I grabbed a few dollar notes then ran down the stairs. Alfi waggled his tail, hoping for a treat. "Stay!" The dog stayed for a second then stood up to see where I was going. But it was not able to follow me as I had quickly locked the door. I felt slightly guilty. I could imagine what Alfi felt. Peter walked at a fast pace trying to go as far away from my house as possible. "Come on. Alfi is harmless." I affirmed. "Yeah, right?" Peter replied with a smirk. I laughed. "So did you get the invite?" "What invite?" "You know.." I giggled. "She hasn't said anything to me." "She's probably going to tell you when you're both alone." "Yeah, maybe." "Come on don't be like that. Jess Is really into you." I tried to affirm. Peter sighed. Doubt clearly seen behind those round spectacles he would put on his eyes. "Well sometimes it feels like she's going to be a crush forever and nothing more." I felt very bad for my friend. He just couldn't see his own potential very well. Since he was good-looking and most of the girls in my class would drool for him. "I think you should just tell her how you feel." I suggested. "As if she'll listen to me." "You need to loosen up a little. A little bit of positivity can do wanders for your confidence." Peter chuckled. "You're really into this positive energy guru shit, aren't you?" "Well it has helped my mom overcome many of her life challenge's, or so she says." "I guess I'll have to try that positive thinking from now on. Maybe Jess will finally notice me and confess her feelings for me. And I guess I could ask her to be my prom date and we could kiss under the big disco ball then feel her heart beat close to my heart." I couldn't stop but smile as I heard such positive words, finally! "Oh.. You should really tell her how you feel. Or should I do the honour's. It will be like a friend doing her best friend a favour." Peter chuckled. He's cheeks becoming red. I could tell he wanted to say no. So I didn't press on too hard anymore. Suddenly, a red convertible was coming towards our direction slowly. Peter cleared his voice with his gaze fixed on the car. I watched in annoyance as the boy in the car waved at us. He had black shiny spiky hair and would often wink to everyone he would pass by. "Argh, I don't know why you always have to make things obvious." I protested. "I like his car and the guy is also chilled. I don't know why you don't like him. Not forgetting the fact that he wants you." Said Peter with a grin. "Jake is a snob, he likes to be liked and I just don't feel the same way as other people." "I think your just in self denial mode. He wants you and you want him. We've been friends since daycare, I know you especially when you like someone." I laughed that comment off. I refused to believe any of Peter's theories of me. "Well, that snob is definitely not my type. He is way too ignorant and thinks he's this big short just because his parents are rich." Peter eyed me with disbelief. "Yeah yeah yeah. Keep telling yourself that. My ride has arrived. I'll text you." He began to run after his parent's black limousine which was parked opposite us on the other side of the road. I waved my hand but felt sad to see my friend leave me so soon.Jake
It was after 12 pm, when I i had finally finished my daily routine workout. I quickly reached for my water bottle then began to gulp down the contents with an aim to quench my thirst. Paul was my combat trainer. Well fit and intimidating in muscle structure. He offered me another bottle but I refused it. "I still remember what you taught me, don't drink too much after a heavy workout." I teased. "Oh, so he remembers. Thank goodness." "But coach, you know that this bottle alone won't quench my thirst." Paul eyed me for a while. I felt guilty already. "Okay.. rules are rules. Geez!" My trainer threw me the bottle of water and I caught it quickly and began to drink. Paul shook his head. "When I was your age, I used to take in more than 3 litres a day. My body heat was just too much." "Does it ever stop?" I asked.. "The heat? Never. You just learn to control yourself. Its a defensive mechanism that our kind has. It's the fuel we need to transform." "But you never sweat, neither does my father, unlike me." "Well once you transform, the excessive sweating stops. Your body heat will go as high 50 degrees celcius but you won't even release a single drop of sweat. Unlike humans." I suddenly remembered someone special. The girl my mind had been stuck on since being enrolled in Lakewood High. "Funny, you should say that." I began. "What do you mean?" "I saw her again today." Paul raised an eyebrow. "You mean?" "Sandra, yes. That's her name." My combat training quickly changed in expression. His face stern and cold. "You should stay away from her." He pressed. I felt defensive. "Why, cause she's human and I'm a werewolf?" "No. Because if your father finds out he will.. You know how Daniel is." "I know. He's a highly feared alpha, ruthless killer and will do anything to protect his precious pack." "He will kill her!" Paul pressed. I growled in anger. "Not if I can help it." "What will you do?" "I'll fight." "Fight for a human? The entire pack will be ready to kill you." I couldn't even imagine what my death would look like. Paul's word's felt like a bluff to me even as I was so defensive. "Sandra is not evil. She's nice." I stated. "It won't matter much to your father, he's old fashioned." "But you are modern. Can you talk to him. Please." Paul chuckled. "As if he'll ever listen to me." "Then what about my feeling's?" "Better forget about them. You're not human, you're a werewolf. And maybe one day, you will take after your dad and qualify to be Alpha. You can't seem weak because of your feelings for a human. Especially a human!" The phone suddenly rang to alert the trainer. His time had ended.Paul began to pack his items and put them in his sports bag.
"I guess I'll see you again tomorrow then." He said. I nodded and watched my trainer leave.Sandra The night had been beautiful and full of surprises. I hadn't expected Jake to do all that he did but I had known for a while that he liked me. Infact the only reason I knew was because of Peter. If only he were here. We would laugh out loud about this very night. My heart was filled with joy as soon as I had finished taking a night shower. I put on my gown and rushed to my room. But the door was not closed anymore, it was slightly opened. I saw my mother sitting there on my bed. Her eyes gazing on the family photo album. She wiped her eyes from the tears that ran down her cheeks. "Mom, why are you crying?" Was the first question that popped into my head at the time. She looked at me and a smile covered her face. "You're so grown up. I can't believe I really did it." She said. Trying to hold back the tears. I felt slightly awkward. And clueless as to how to respond. "Yeah I'm grown, is that a reason to cry or did something bad happen at the hospital?" I pondered ab
Peter Free at last, I ran on the gravel road behind large tall trees. Away from the road. Since it was no longer safe. I could hear the sound of my breath coming out. There were no cars passing by, it was just dark and silent. For the first time in a long time, I feared the dark. I refused to look behind me. All I could think about was making it to my house and seeing my parents again. I ran continuously refusing to stop. Until suddenly, I heard a car come behind me. I was certain it was Jess and so I tried to increase my pace but fall to the ground instead. I heard the car park behind me still. The lights flashed my way. "Hey, wait. You don't have to be scared. I can drive you to your destination. It's dangerous out here." Said a voice. And it didn't sound anything like that of Jess. I got up from the ground and turned to look and saw a male shadow standing there. I couldn't see who it was since the lights were bright and in my eyes. "Their following me. Please get me out of here
Peter Night's had passed since I had last seen anything in the mirror. I was still alive. My mouth covered in blood, I had begun to feed on rats to get the protein I really needed. The room was already stinking, no human could be able to survive such a smell but I was able to since I had gotten used to it. I had even begun to make a large scratch on the wooden floor using the zip from my now torn trouser. As a I was scrapping down on the filthy floor, I noticed a light from the corner of my left eye. I looked up and saw light coming through the mirror, I threw everything to the ground then ran towards the mirror to see what was happening. I was shocked when I saw a human hand passing in front of the glass. It looked like that of.. a face appeared finally. It was Jess. "Hello baby! I see you're still alive. " She said. I thought I was probably hallucinating, but no it seemed to real to be an image. It was her. "Are you the one that locked me in here?" I asked. Jess nodded slowly.
Sandra I had spent the entire day looking for the perfect outfit to wear on my date with Jake.. actually i wouldn't consider it as a date per day. Just a simple nighout with a friend. Well that's how I saw Jake. I had finally considered him as just a friend even though I didn't like him that much before. I could have ignored him but because of Peter, we became friends. Again, there was a sort of kindness about him. A side that I had found to be likeable... Firstly he was friendly with all the cooking and cleaning staff that worked at the school. Secondly, he ate food that was offered at school even though he could afford to buy a meal at a restaurant. Thirdly, my mom liked him and he was respectful. I put on my new outfit. A black hem tshirt with lace details on the sleeves with a black jeans. My mom helped braid my hair on the side then curled the rest of it. I felt alive. As I was finishing off my makeup, I heard a car park outside the house. I knew by then that Jake had arrived
Sandra The morning was silent. Peace covered the streets of Lakewood .I wanted badly to skip achool for at least five days. I knew that the Finley sister's would be waiting for me at school. Waiting eagerly for my blood. My heart throbbed with each movement. I had left the house earlier than usual, unwilling to go with Jake. I didn't want him to protect me or fight my battle. I was ready to face my fears even if it meant I had to defend myself again. But what triggered that was the unfair treatment I had received from the principal. I wanted justice. I wanted to fight. Scared as I was. All the learner's students gathered to near the assembly hall for the day's announcements. Mr Burgess pulled out a key from his pocket but was surprised to see that the door was actually not locked as he thought it was. He opened it wide for the learners to enter. Those that were at the front, standing next to the principal began to scream. "What's the meaning of this?" Mr Burgess asked. He seemed s
Sandra When my class for the day had ended, I walked past the principals office to place my books in the locker. However I was surprised to notice that his office was empty. There was no hint at all of the Finley sister's and their looser boyfriend Tyler. As I reached for the locker I heard someone clearing his voice, I turned to look and saw the principal, tall as he was staring right at me. His eyes slightly hazed inside his spectacles. "Mr Burgess. You scared me." I said. The principal did not seem to hear me. "You are late for detention. Follow me to my office!" He shouted. I was surprised. "No sir. I think you are mistaken. I did nothing wrong. The Finley sister's are the ones who deserve to be punished. Not me!" I cried out. "You are late for detention. Follow me to my office!" The principal repeated as if a recorded tape, continuously repeating the same message. I continued to defend my innocence but the principal did not listen to me nor did he try to reason. H
