Kajjansi village

A graduation party just finished with people eating and dancing. The son of the richest man in the village Edgar Stevens has finished his studies at Kampala international University.

Many people were congulating him. His parents drove him to greet many important figures at the district level who has graced the party with their presence. Girls dressed their best to impress him. But none of these really caught his attention like the girl stood across the road of their family.

He invited her himself but he did not see her. She stood alongside the road probably waiting for someone.

You haven't given up yet on that girl?lts evident that she doesn't want to do anything with you. But l don't understand one thing. Why an educated and outstanding man like you is interested in a silly village girl.

Moreover.... Enough of this lrene. Stop poking your nose in other people's business. Edgar roared at his sister. He was mad. No one in the family approves him to date the girl he truly loves. He would have dealt with his family members if the girl loves him back. But no she always think about someone else. A nobody. Edgar always freaks out when he thinks about that.

Edgar sighed heavily. He will have to first del with every thing now at his plate and then focuss on how to persuade that girl.

*********

Cocoa Ronda is a simple and lovely girl. She is beautiful with her dazzling black eyes. She is the favorite of most men in the village. She lives with her dad, step mom and a step sister. Her mother Ritah Ronda died when she was just ten years old.

It's said that her mother was from Rwanda. She was a light skinned woman beautiful as Cocoa.

But her step mom and sister always call her albino which used to make her angry at a young age. But now Cocoa had grew up into a beautiful woman that men fight for. She doesn't take their insults to heart anymore. For her they are jealous of her beauty.

She didn't attend school for too long. Her step mom being the one at calls the shots at home, saw it unnecessary for her. It's good enough that she knows how to read and write. She knows basic mathematics that helped her to work as a shop attendant in one of the shops in the village. The owner of the shop was her mum's friend. Mrs. Ruth. She has been a great help to poor Cocoa.

At eighteen years Cocoa met a man when she went to Mrs Ruth's garden. They always go there to get fruits and other crops to sell in the shop.

The man was doing his work in the nearest garden. He was tall with a tanned skin may be due too much sunshine. His nose was straight with beautiful pink lips. That time he did not have his shirt on living his upper body part bare. She was mesmerized with the way he hold the hoe with so much power. She couldn't forget that scene.

At same day the man came to their shop and bought a bottle of mineral water. She couldn't tear away her eyes from him.

Her obssession began from then on wards. She one time approached him while in the garden and striked a conversation with him. Cocoa had came to know that the man is married. She was disappointed at first but later she came to live with that fact.

She one time confessed her love to him but he didn't take her serious. He has been treating her as sister.

And two years had passed. But she still love him. These days she has been restless. That man hasn't shown up in his garden for almost a month. She would call him every minute but it's always the simcard line customer care services telling her that the telephone number you dialed is n't available at the moment. She had come to hate those words as days passed.

She would go in the garden and wait hoping that he will show up and pack his bicycle side ways and smile at her. She would reciprocate his smile and question him why he was late. He would ignore her and start working in the field. She would sat down besides and watch him work silently until he finishes or unto Mrs. Ruth come looking for her. She couldn't do all of that now. He still hasn't shown up. What is the heck happened to him. At one point she even thought that may be he got a new job. But she knows that man more than anyone in this village. He can't leave his garden unattended too for a month. Something wasn't right.

Waking up today Cocoa needed nothing but to go and begin her search for that man. So after checking and confirming that everything in the garden is okay, she left and checked on Mrs. Ruth before finding Stanley.

Stanley has been friends with that man since. He assured her yesterday that he knows where that man stays in the city.Stanely was at Edgar's graduation ceremony since the entire village was invited. Cocoa had to stand for more than half an hour for him to finish eating food before they board. She wanted nothing to do with the graduation ceremony. Some one will glue himself on her. She had enough worries and had no reason to celebrate anything. Perhaps may be perhaps she find him, they will be a reason again to smile and be happy.

She stood for over forty five minutes before Stanley finished his meal. She got worried that they might get lost in the city given the fact that Stanley drank alcohol. She was relieved when they reached Kampala city and the drankard Stanley managed to remember where that man used to live.

She wasn't surprised that he lived in the slums. Because she already knows that he is poor without anything but a wife and a daughter.

But what made her panic was that the house Stanley showed her was empty. No one seemed to live there for while now.

Cocoa asked the neighbors the whereabouts of the family. One woman said : lt has been a month since no one came to this house but the landlord might know something. Go straight counting three rentals then turn left you will see his house.

Cocoa did just that. They knocked on the door a little girl came and told them that grandpa and grandma went to the hospital.

Cocoa couldn't get enough information from the little girl so decided to wait. Do you think they went to see him? Stanley asked. I don't know Stanley. I just know that something isn't right here. Cocoa replied. She felt worse to almost crying. In fact she wanted to cry and don't know why she felt that way. Where are you? She silently asked in her heart.

They waited five to six hours until the old couple showed up.
