The banquet had begun to unravel. The great hall, once alive with music and laughter, was sinking into the sluggish haze of wine. Some guests slumped against the table, their heads lolling in drunken slumber. Others slipped away two by two, voices hushed, footsteps uneven. Only the sharp eyed councilors remained steady, their words barbed and measured even as the night waned.

Aaliyah sat still at her place, her back straight despite the weight of hours. Her silver gown shimmered faintly under the fading light of the chandeliers, and though she smiled when addressed, her thoughts were elsewhere. She felt it again the faint tug, the bond thrumming quietly in her chest like a whisper she dared not acknowledge. Keith was not in the hall. She didn’t need eyes to know it.

Her father, Alpha George, dismissed her with a glance, believing her too delicate to endure the night’s final hours. She rose gracefully, bowing her head.

Aaliyah sat next to her father at the banquet hall, ever since she was born her father has shielded her and kept her from leaving the pack. This was the first time she ever left. The banquet was meant to celebrate their so called alliance and bethrotal to the third Prince of the Grey moon pack. But the bethrotal was only known to a select few for her safety. It was to be announced was she came of age next moon.Music drifted the hall from the band, her father stood up and reached for her hands. helping her up he led her to meet the Grey moon Alpha. Her chin dipped respectfully, her movements soft and controlled. It was the mask she had worn for years, carefully crafted to satisfy her father’s command that she appear untouchable, sheltered, weak. But behind lowered lashes, her mind was sharp, watching everything. She noted the stiff posture of her father as he greeted Lucien, his smile polite but never reaching his eyes. She saw the way Damen leaned close to one of the Grey moon counci

The banquet to celebrate the new alliance and bethrotal was mere dawns away. Things have been a bit tense at the Greymoon pack since Alpha had announced the alliance with their rival pack. Relations with the Sunlit pack have been tensed at best and the sudden alliance left many unsettled, however they had unwavering trust in their Alpha. Lucien had decided to host the banquet at the dandelion field located at the heart of the pack. And only those invited were allowed to attend. This field was near where the training fields of their pack, this will allow them immediate defense in case of any accidents. A figure sprinted off towards the backyards of the palace into a small opening, darting through the narrow tunnel carved out beneath the thickets, a path he had discovered moons ago during one of his many escapades. It led straight into the outskirts of the village, far away from the watchful eyes of the guards and his ever-watchful brothers. Paws hit the earth lightly, every stride con

Later that evening Damien went to see his father. “You asked me to see you, father.” “Yes, what did you think of Alpha George?” “He is an impressionable Alpha and is quite formidable. However, something doesn’t sit right with me.” Damien said “He hasn’t bothered about us ever since he became the Alpha of the Sunlit pack, but now he is seeking an alliance with us through marriage.” Lucien smiled at his son. “There is more to this alliance than George is letting on. He is hiding something and the sooner we find out what, the sooner we gain the upper hand.” “I feel whatever he is hiding lies within his daughter’s illness. Its most likely she is more ill than he is letting on and he’s trying to pretend by making it seem the benefits of the alliance is more important than the marriage of his daughter.” Lucien said, a cold glint in his eyes. “What are we to do father?” Damien asked “We delay the joining until we can dig deeper and grasp George’s weakness.” Sunlit Pack Cou

“Calm down both of you, before you send everyone into a panicked frenzy.” The seer of the Grey moon pack Niall said. He was a tiny wolf in his late sixties with long white hair packed into a tail at his neck and dressed in black wool cloth. Although he was small, both Alphas relaxed immediately at his command which went to show how powerful he was. George sent him a curious glance, for as long as he could remember no one but dominant Alphas had been able to stand up to him when his pheromones were released, this seer was not to be trifled with. The seer set to work calming the frenzied wolves of both packs very quickly and efficiently. George was impressed, although his seer was a talented wolf, he had to admit that this seer could be more powerful. His pack will benefit greatly if Amal was sent to learn under him. “Now if you two are done with this egoistical posturing can we get on with the meeting? Niall said softly before returning to his position behind Lucien. “You are right

The envoy from the Sunlit pack arrived a week later, the envoy consisted of seven men and five women with the Alpha included. The Alpha George was a tall huge chunk of a man with bluish black hair that brought attentions to his fiery eyes. He had an intimidating aura surrounding him that screamed for submission. The Alpha Lucien, his son Damien and a few emissaries were present to welcome them. Though of smaller built than George, Lucien was no less intimidating with his pale white skin, cold blue eyes and well-proportioned muscles. “Lucien, I'm am so glad you could grant us audience.” George said with superficial courtesy. “I'm glad you could make it. You all must be tired from your journey; my servants will show you to your rooms. Dinner will be served by eight, I will be honored if you could join me.” Lucien said, the picture of a perfect host. If not for the sinister glint in his eyes anyone would have thought he was truly happy to see them. “Of course, Lucien.” George said
