Chapter 2

JANE

Peace. It's a good thing I'm finally at ease.

BUT why don’t I experience any pain? I'm wondering if they didn't kill me in agony. For this tiny shit, as they phrased it, I think they should have some mercy.

I carefully open my eyes after accepting my tragic fate to see if the moon goddess and I have made it there. Somehow, I don’t see paradise except for the same dark woods that surround me.

I’m in the same place I was before and I blink twice to see if I am not insane but a voice stops me.

“You're not crazy, a male voice with a very velvety tone said.

I look around to see if I can spot this person; however, I cannot. I shivered slightly. Is this what I'm hearing? I shook my head and thought.

When I don't hear anyone's voice, I huff. I look around to see if they've left, and I'm surprised to see that they have. I'm just checking to see if they're messing with me.

Oh well! My soul must be pitied by the moon goddess.

I turned to walk back home, but a voice stopped me. "No thanks for me, babe. I saved your life."

I let out a groan. It irritates me that there is another voice, and I'm not sure if it's someone else or if I'm going insane. I slap my cheeks.

"I'm not insane." I clench my teeth and wonder if I'm still a girl. I look to see if I've grown a beard. No. After that, I check my pants to see if I've grown balls, but I'm still a she-wolf. I pause and give it some thought.

The thought that maybe the moon goddess has given me a male wolf causes my eyes to widen.

NO WAY!

“Beauty!” I exclaim as I try to link my wolf.

"She did not," he says.

"Huh, then who are you?" I curiously asked aloud.

"My bodyguard?" There was no response.

"My wingmen?" Another moment of silence

"My chicken soup?" I tried again but was met with silence.

"Ahh, you must be my brother from another mother then," I say jokingly.

"I am none of those," he finally said, which annoys me.

"I am not talking to a ghost. Am I?"

"No, I am in your head," he said.

What the hell! "Get out of my head," I demand, thinking that he is actually in possession of my head and body.

Crazy!

He let out a hearty laugh which annoys me. I snapped at him, “I said, get out of my head or you’re going to pay for doing this.”

“And how will I pay for it?” His divine, seductive, sexy, velvety voice echoes in my ears from behind.

Finally! Now I can see him. I thought and I abruptly turn around, coming face with him. Except I don’t see him. I could only make out the general shape of his body.

I inhaled deeply as I became aware of his powerful aura enveloping me. My body feels chilled, and I’m starting to feel a little uneasy. I could see his body moving and the closer he came, the stronger his aura became, pulling me in with a tug that seemed like a cord. We have a connection that is difficult for me to describe. Although I can feel it, I am unsure of what it is.

He halted six meters away from me just as I thought I could see him clearly. I couldn’t see him because of the darkness surrounding us. I move forward by taking a single step.

He said, “don’t move,” and I didn’t budge. “You know I am not scared. You can come out now,” I say, pretending to be brave.

“Close your eyes,” he said, and I held my breath for a split second before exhaling and closing my eyes. I waited two minutes and heard nothing.

“Are you-”

“You can see me now,” he said, as I was about to ask him a question.

I'm intrigued by how intimidated he appears to be. I'll admit that my feelings towards this man's presence are conflicted. My eyelids flutter slowly before they fully open, allowing me to see him clearly.

When I am met with something other than a dashing man, I scoff. Another Beast. Great! Why was I even intrigued and anticipating something? Man, this night is to blame.

Oh, moon goddess, am I going to be cooked this time? When I realized that this creature would do the task that others had failed to complete, I gasped.

“You know we’re all creatures” he said in my head, sending shivers up and down my spine. I nervously swallowed my saliva. “You’re a wolf” he said, pointing first at me and then at himself. “And I… just happened to be me.”

"You're a lycan, and stop getting inside my head," I deadpanned, not knowing where I got this confidence. He didn't say anything after that, except that he was staring at me.

He's quietly watching me, and as much as I like his voice, I detest the way this beast calmly staring at me. Therefore, for self-note; don’t be swayed by the person's sexy, hot voice. It might be a delusion, similar to the one I'm experiencing at the moment.

“Stop!” I nearly scream at him.

“What?” he wonders.

Once more, he is in my head and is unconcerned with what I previously told him. I gnash my teeth. I ended up shouting at him, "Stop gazing at me and STOP GETTING INSIDE MY HEAD," which was a poor decision.

The crazed lycan glared at me while flashing his pearly white fangs. His eyes are permanently shifting between crimson and a rich oceanic blue.

Why on earth did I have to act like a bitch when I know I have no chance of surviving? I quickly closed my eyes and braced myself for death once more when he leapt.

When I can’t feel any physical discomfort induced by his violent actions, I carefully open each eye to see if the Lycan is still there.

Instead of harming me, he is wreaking havoc on the trees around us. "Stop." He is unresponsive. “Stop.” He doesn’t listen. “STOP.” He doesn’t stop and he keeps ripping another tree out and sending it across to another one.

“Please stop,” my voice waiver and now I am pleading with him.

He came to a halt in the middle, not moving. His labored breathing was audible to me. I am aware of his rage and that he is attempting to control it.

“You-” He growled loudly, furiously, and I jumped. He cautions me, "Next time, it won't be these trees, it'll be you." I gulp my saliva. “Do you hear me?” I don’t respond as I feel like I am going to pee in my panty.

“DO YOU?”

“Ye-yes I understood.” My trembling response come out as a whisper. If anyone is with us, they would notice that I am terrified.

"GO HOME NOW!" What? I shook my head incredulously. To be sure I'm hearing things correctly. "Huh?"

"Do you want me to say it again?"

"No," I shook my head.

“Leave,” he said.

“No”

“You want me to take you with me?”

"Fine with me," I said obstinately, and immediately regretted it when he stormed right in my way.

As soon as his hands touched my skin, he withdrew, as if my touch had scourged him. However, nothing went unnoticed, as I felt something in that brief moment.

Tickle.

When he touches me, I feel a tickle on my skin. For a brief moment, I believed he was the one. "No," I shook my head. I don't buy it. It can’t be or could he be the one?

“What is it?” I ponder. ‘He is not my mate, is he?’ I gasp and turn to face him.

He is standing there and is giving me a serene look. He stays still and is silent the entire time. He didn't move; he simply stood there like a statue.

I made the decision to go first as he didn't seem to be going to initiate anything anytime soon. I reach out to touch him once more, but he retreats and deflects my touch. I decided to try again by moving closer to him because I didn't want to quit up after the first attempt.

My hands reach out to grasp his hands, but he quickly moves away from me. He is obviously trying to avoid me as much as possible.

"Damn you, can't you?" My teeth were clenched. I retry, but I fail. “You're my mate, right?” I give up and ask him instead.

The beast retreated as he shook his head no. “You’re lying?”

"I am not," he said flatly. His facial expression, however, betrays his words. His eyes soften as he looks at me, displaying the same emotion I saw in Malcom's eyes when he discovered Shauna was his mate.

Except for the lycan in front of me, those eyes are filled with longing. At that point, I realized he was aware. We'd been back and forth for a while, and he knew I could be his mate.

“NO” I gasp in horror when I realized it might be real that I am mated to a f**king Lycan.
