I look up from my documents to see my attendant running towards me “slow down Gyahan, what’s the matter” “there is a new Gem Flower on the Fire Tree, it’s in bloom! It’s the bud you’ve been wondering who it belongs to all these years Empress Roze”

I push back my chair and run to the tree where others have gathered, including my parents and my mate as well as the tree sprites. “Do you know what this means!” “yes it means one of our kind is about to be born!” “how can that be, we are all here and it is too soon for Malis pup to be born so it can’t be hers”

Mali is my cousin who has been on my back for many years while trying to take my Empress throne away from me but no matter how much tricks she uses she can never beat me, but just for the fact she is with pup now, that may change as even though my mate and I have been together for many years we were never able to reproduce and we have no idea why, we’ve both been checked more than once by our healers and even shamans and they find nothing wrong with us.

“Look! It’s bloomed!” The flower opens and it’s Red “a fire elemental?” we all stand there stunned when the gem from the flower dislodges and engulfs itself in a ball of fire and slowly makes it way down the tree “it-it’s going to the Empress!” the gem stops right before me and the fire lessens down, I open my hand and it drops into my hand and a litter of memories flood my mind.

“My baby!” I sob out I see her, I see her memories, her suffering, her loneliness then I’m brought back to reality, everyone is staring at me as tears flow from my eyes and I clutch the gem to my chest looking at my parents “you lied to me! You told me my pup died!” I shout at my parents “how could you! You made me leave my pup out in the world to grow up without her mother! She has suffered all these years! Because of you!”

“Roze, you were needed here! How could we let you go back to that man” “man, that’s what you were focused on, not the fact that my pup, your grandchild was left to grow up without knowing who she is!?” I look to the Guardians “did you know as well?! Did all of you know that my pup was left out in the world to grow up without me while I am here all these years wondering if I’d ever be a mother!” they all bow down “your Majesty we vow we had no idea this is what transpired, we truly thought your pup had died’

Adriel, my mate comes over to me “my love how about we talk about this inside” “I will talk of nothing inside” I shout shaking him off “what about you? Are you in on this with them too?! How many of you conspired together to fool me, tell me!” I yell, my fire power is going rampant and lashes out, they all run back away from me.

My pup!” I don’t know how to feel, I feel so hurt, so betrayed and I feel like a failure, why did I just blindly accept what they said and carried on with my life, yes I grieved for my pup but I just left it as is, not once did I venture back to visit her grave, nothing, I am to blame too for allowing myself to be a fool for so many years.

The Water Wolves put the fires out but still no one dares to approach me. I storm off, running back to my palace I can hear Adriel, my parents and my attendant calling after me “leave me be all of you! Gyahan follow me” “please Roze give us a chance to explain” I look back at them “THE ONLY THING THAT IS PREVENTING YOU BOTH FROM BEING LOCKED IN MY PRISON CELLS IS THE FACT THAT YOU ARE MY PARENTS, I ADVICE YOU NOT TO PUSH YOUR LUCK AND LEAVE HERE IMMEDIATELY! “My love what about me?” “you will stay away from me until I figure out if you are with them or not” I can see he’s hurting but I need to be sure, they all bow and turn away from me going back the way they came, “Gyahan, assemble all the palace staff to meet me at the inner court immediately” “yes you Majesty”

Ina few minutes everyone who works for me in my palace is assembled “I am sorry for calling you all here so suddenly but I need to make an announcement” my voice cracks “I have a daughter, my pup did not die like my parents made me believe, this is her Gem”

I hold it out to them “it seems she’s just got her Lycan and I need to go to her, to my pup”
