Chapter 1

Roho

One more shift done,  I stretch myself before leaving my lab room, I truly am tired but I need to head home and get some rest for my shift at the border later. I say by to the staff as I exit the pack hospital and blink a few times adjusting my eyes to the sun light, Imake my way along, headed back to the hellhole I call home, most people would look at it and consider it to be a beautiful home, and I’m sure to others it is but for me, it’s the source of discomfort.

“ Hey Red!” ‘ hey Dirk! It’s been a while, how you been?’ “I’ve been good, we just got back from our visit to the other packs, I’m headed home to Sammy”  ' try not to keep your neighbours up all night huh’ he chuckled and went on along his way.

As you’ve heard my name is Roho, which means Red in Spanish, we’ll not get too much into why the people responsible for me would name me that but what can I do, the nickname Red has already grown on me through the years and it’s what people know me as so it’s fine I suppose.

I can’t say that was the case in my younger years, I had thought my name sounded unique when compared to those around me but after attending Spanish class and the true meaning of my name came to light, there was a lot of teasing, at first it really bothered me because it just showed me how little thought was put into me and my name, which hurt me and I lashed out when teased but I came to accept there was nothing I could do and stopped and so did the teasing, it was only worth something when they could get a rise out of me.

If you're curious, my father got tired of waiting for his true mate and chose Nika as his mate after meeting her at another pack while he was on a consultation mission as a pack doctor, one thing led to another and the twins came, and the rest was history, the problem came after when he met his true mate, my mother Rozaria two years after he mated and marked Nika, I was told that she was devasted that he had not waited for her and chose another and even had pups but she could not resist the pull of the mate bond and along came me, surprise! unfortunately she died after child birth and my father in turn was devasted and almost lost his mind.

I was told he'd visit the pack she was from every chance he got because naturally he could not resist their bond either, and I suppose somewhere along the road, his chosen Nika found out about it, because even though chosen mate don't feel the aches of betrayal as strongly as a true mate, because she is marked she would get an inkling whenever my father would mate with my mother, in the odd times when my father would speak about my mom when I was younger, he once said he didn't understand how she could've died during childbirth as she was a very strong she wolf, strong and healthy, he wanted her death to be investigated but as werewolves it was just written off as an unfortunate one off thing and he grieved at the fact that he couldn't even get to bury her because her parents took her body away back to their pack and he never knew which pack that was.

He naturally had no choice but to take me back to his pack with him to meet his chosen and my older step siblings, at first my siblings were kind to me being pups but as they grew and their mothers' resentment towards my mother and father fell unto me and she slowly but surely began to poison their minds towards me and they all in turn treated me badly, my father had been indifferent to me but they never treated me badly when my dad was around.

My brother and sister had the best of everything, provided by their mother and my things were okay at best but that was fine by me because I had learned from very young that Nika 

was not my mother and I was never to address her as such and made it known to my father and me that he was to provide me with my wants and needs as I was his child and had nothing to do with her.

As a doctor he made good money, the majority of it would naturally go to Nika to manage the house and for their children and he would then let me go shopping with the Alpha children, given my situation the Luna and Alpha have been very fond of me so to speak and treated me kindly, their children also treated me kindly, they had two sons and a daughter Ember, Ivan and Joao, Ember and I are as thick as thieves, always getting into trouble together or one bailing the other out of trouble, Ivan and Joao kept us safe and watchful eye on us as best as they could to keep us out of trouble and naturally when Ember and I got into trouble, they also got into trouble for not keeping us out of trouble, outside of home I was content.

Although my siblings would always make snide remarks and tease me about being a leech or charity case that the Alpha kids felt sorry for and kept me around because I was basically a nobody without meaning.
