Chapter 35

She’s always been fascinated with being in my room and has often tried but I can’t risk her finding my dimension cross over door.

I’ve set the entryway, so my appearance would change once I step through from either side of the door, my true self is revealed when I step through from the outer world and I return to the form they know when I step out from my dimension into my bedroom.

I step through and close the door behind me, give myself a one over before going to find Astrid, even though I no longer have a wolf I still have my sense of smell, hearing and sight like they all do, I sense that she’s still on the balcony and as I approach, can tell from her breathing and heart rate that she’s asleep.

A horrible thought strikes me in that moment as I’m standing and looking down at her asleep peacefully on the balcony chair, could she be pregnant? Did I get her pregnant? Could that be the reason she’s sleeping so much today, early signs of pregnancy?

I can not have a child with someone like her, when I say that, I mean a shewolf of the normal origin, my seed has to come from a being of the dark, this seed will be abnormal, I have to ask her, I stoop and look at her, quite beautiful but not someone I can be with for life nor someone I can sire children with, if I press my ear to her stomach that may rouse her.

I think about it, the chances of the child being born and looking normal would be very slim and of course she would question as to why the child would look that way, unless we sedate her and take the child and then tell her it died and I raise the child in the dark with me, oh what to do?

No, no I’m over thinking, I’ve always been careful, with every woman I’ve been with, especially Ash considering I have been with her the longest, this has to be something else, perhaps she’s coming down with something after all, so long as it’s not a creature because that would certainly be a disaster and knowing her and her strong willed self she may want to keep it thinking she’d be having the most beautiful child ever.

Stop it! No over thinking!

I gently pick her up with the intention of bringing her to her bedroom but she wakes as I’m walking in through the foyer door.

“Hey handsome” she smiles up at me sleepily, “hey yourself, are you trying to make yourself ill sleeping out in the cold Ash?” “ what time is it?” she yawned and stretched, I place her on the kitchen counter “ 21:03” “what?! I’ve been asleep for that long! No wonder I feel like I’m starving” I swallow the lump in my throat.

I really don't want to have to murder this she wolf so I really do hope that she's not currently with pup " what do you feel like having? " I set her down on the kitchen counter and look at her " how about a Sea Food Pizza or Meat Lovers? " I'm not really a pizza person but I suppose I can handle a slice of Sea Food Pizza " sure " I fish my phone from my pocket and message one of my staff to get a Medium Sea Food for us.

Hmmm, let's test the waters " how about a glass of wine while we wait for the pizza? " she thinks it over then nods " wine sounds lovely, thank you " I sigh and grab two wine glasses from the cabinet and pour us some Gaja Barbaresco, I quite like this wine.

She sits absentmindedly not really saying anything or doing anything which really isn't her style and she seems very deep in thought " are you sure everything is okay Ash? " " hmm yes everything is fine, just a little tired that's all and hungry " and right on time the elevator door opens and Demus comes carrying her pizza, she hops down from the counter and runs over to him " thank you De " he nods curtly before heading back into the elevator.

She comes back and opens the box and the smell of pizza fills the air " mmm it smells so damn good " she grabs a plate and puts a slice onto it and hands it for me " I know pizza is not really your thing so you'd only have one slice but I'm happy to share more if you want okay? " she hops back onto the counter and digs into the rest, I sit by her hanging legs and eat my pizza.

We have a bit of small talk and I end up having another slice, it's actually not too bad this time around I must admit.

After we eat and put our things away, she heads to her room to shower and I head to mine after saying good night to her, I may not be a good person but I do know how to read the room and tonight is most certainly not a night of entertainment or entanglements.

I lock my door and head through to my domain.
