Carson

After she leaves, I look down at myself still hard as a rock, images of her naked body flood my mind, how her skin felt and the sound of her moaning, I find my release and shower quickly. 'Why didn't you just take her?' 'I need to know if she's serious about us or not, that we're not just a fleeting thought or game to play with then toss aside for the King' 'but you heard what she said, the King has no interest in her' the King, perhaps I should go talk to him.

I get dressed and seek him out and find him just about to enter his bedroom, “my King, sorry to trouble you at this hour but may I have a few minutes of your time please” “wait in my office Carson” he goes into his room and I turn and head towards his office, he said to wait inside so I open and let myself in and take  a seat.

It takes him about Ten minutes before he comes into the office, his hair is damp which means he went to shower “I suppose you’ve decided on where you wish to settle” “ ahh yes my King, if it’s alright with you I’d like to settle here and join your ranks, I know I don’t have a Lycan to be a Royal Guard but perhaps I can join the border patrol guard ranks, because there is honestly nothing for me back in Menah, I need to use my talent’’ “great, we will find a spot for you to build your home and go from there”

“Would it be okay for me to take part in the training from tomorrow?” “of course” “thank you but that aside sir, I do have something I’d like to find out, I hope you won’t find me impertinent” he sits forward in his seat and gives me his full attention “do you have any intention in taking Astrid as your chosen Queen?”

“Astrid is your mate is she not?” “yes” “you want her do you not?” “well, yes I suppose so”  he raises and eyebrow “you suppose so?” “look, man to man I’m still on guard, she is an Alpha’s daughter much like my last mate, I feel like the Gods have a running joke on me or something, I mean what if her chasing is like what men would do, chase the prey once you get it you play around with it and leave it, I can’t risk my feelings like that, and on top of that I’d have to-” I stop myself.

“To what?” “it’s nothing” “you said we’re talking man to man Carson, be frank” “I’d have to worry about her faithfulness to me as I scent another man’s scent from her, not on her if you know what I mean sigh” “ahh she’s been with a man” “yes, so my frame of mind is she is or was betrothed to you which she knew I’m sure but still chose to lay with another, if she chose to be unfaithful to you, a King! Who the hell am I to stay faithful to?”

“Her mate” “what?” “you asked who are you to remain faithful to, the answer is her mate, it would be difficult to cheat on you Carson because of the mate bond and also because of the mate bond you’d know if she cheat, you’d feel it and vice versa plus my case is different, yes it is true that Astrid has chased me for many years but I had been still am bent on waiting for my mate, I never would have touched her which she knew so I suppose that’s why she thought it was okay to do that which is correct, I truly don’t care and she didn’t either, why? Because we aren’t mates but you are”

“So you truly have no wish to” “never did it’s the Elders who keep trying to force her onto me, in particular Elder Tom, the biggest torn in my side because he hopes to control me through her you see but he’s nothing more than a washed up old fool who thinks he is above the crown and loves power but is greedy and wants more”

“What is her father like? Is he the same?” “Aaron has more common sense than the others, I’m sure he would happy to find out his daughter found her destined mate rather than be under the thumb of the old fool and her mother, well she may be a bit of a challenge but she will come around once Astrid is serious about you, as she is their princess after all”

“Guess I’m going to have to work extra hard and earn a lot of money then” the King chuckles “after training tomorrow, I will have the property attorney take you to see some lands we have available, you just choose the one you like best, have your plans drawn up and submitted and rest will be done”

“And how am I paying for all this” “if you make the cut for the border guard there will be deductions from your salary monthly to pay for it, the repayment is Two years and you start the deductions a year after your house is built to give you time to save so it doesn’t strain you”  

“Very thoughtful and wise, okay, well thank you for your time my King I wont take up any more of it have a good night” “ you too”
