My heart was in tension and so before either one of them got a chance to look up from their phones, I spun on my heels and turned to Greg. "Can I use the bathroom?" I said so only he could hear me.
"Now?" He raised one eyebrow, studying my face.
I nodded fast, "immediately." I really hoped that the bathroom would lead away from the table and towards and so when he pointed behind him, I didn't fully wait for him to describe it to me, I tried to find my way on my own.
I heard his mom call from behind me, "where on earth is she headed to?"
