As soon as I stepped out of Mr. Jones' car, a view of the massive building greeted me, reminding me that I had gotten the chance to study here.
A scholarship to one of the most prestigious colleges in the city. Everyone's dream school.
Finally, I could study freely, achieve my dreams, and maybe even meet my mate afterward, without anyone insulting or reminding me about my parents.
I found myself smiling widely at this thought, my heart racing.
"Are you alright, girl?" I heard Mr. Jones right from behind me, and I found myself trembling for no reason, before turning to face him.
He, too, had gotten out of his vehicle and was adjusting his suit.
"Yes, thank you so much, sir, for everything, especially this," I replied with a thin smile while gesturing with my free hand towards the gigantic building, my books in the other.
"I should be thanking you instead, kiddo. I owe you my life," he told me with a bright smile, reminding me of the incident which led to all this, the incident which brought me here.
He started moving towards the building, and I followed right behind him, my two hands clutching my books tightly to my chest, my head bent down towards the floor, due to the fellow students I saw walking around, and I wondered why.
'Could it be the fact that I knew, I did not belong here with them?' I pondered as we made our way towards the Chief Accountant's office to get myself settled in, and after everything, I was handed my timetable, my hostel key, and other stuff.
The registration was pretty easy and simple, but I was not surprised, for it was a big shot that gave me admission, after all.
"I will be taking my leave now, Dawn," Mr. Jones informed me while turning to look at his watch, and I nodded.
"Thank you once again," I appreciated him for the hundredth time, and he gave me another one of his bright smiles before departing, leaving me all alone to myself and fate.
I took in a deep breath before deciding to locate my hostel room and get settled in. I used this period to look around the school, and I was amused.
'Everywhere was so perfect and beautiful.' I thought as a feeling of satisfaction went through me.
"I finally got to study," I muttered to myself, with a new determination in mind.
I was walking, trying to find my hostel when I noticed the school had a sprawling green garden and a large ground.
The garden lay at the center and could be viewed by almost all classes. It also had comfortable communal areas where students could relax.
The school was secluded in the Lush Hills of Octave States, where it encircles the rich only. Its huge building complemented the blue and yellow that painted the school walls. It was also well-equipped with all the contemporary gadgets.
The classrooms were built between the dormitories, where students could easily meet and receive their daily curricular activities, according to what I have read on the net.
Finally, I found the hostel building. It was a mixed boarding school and had separate boys' and girls' hostels.
The boy's hostel was a few miles away from the girl's hostel. Each student belonged to a particular house named after some beautiful color, and I was in a purple house, my favorite color to be precise.
I took a deep breath and was about to knock on the door when I stopped, feeling my heart racing. I placed my hand on my chest instead to calm myself down.
"Everything will be alright, Dawn," I muttered to myself but failed to calm myself down.
This was a school for the rich, and I was miles away from being rich. If they were to ever find out, would that mean bullying?
I gasped, a huge lump forming in my throat as I began to recall memories of the past I had been trying to forget and move on from.
"Are you okay?" I heard a voice from behind me, and that distracted me from my thoughts. I slowly turned to see a cream-haired girl clad in the same uniform as I was.
A white crop top, with a long tie and a red mini skirt with white stripes. The only difference was that while I had on white boots to match, she had on black heels, and her skirt was way shorter.
"Back to earth, girl, you don't need to ogle at me like that. I know I am pretty," the cream-haired girl told me, while flaunting her long hair back with her fingers, her chin held high, standing tall.
My fingers began to twitch unconsciously, my feet trembling, and my palms sweaty. I could almost feel my whole body shaking as I tried to control myself.
"Who are you, by the way?" She asked, scanning my entire appearance with her eyes.
"I haven't seen you around before," She added, her stare turning into a sharp glare, and I gulped down the saliva forming in my mouth, while looking for what to say.
"D-dawn Snow," I stuttered, feeling hot with her gaze on my body, as she threw me a curious glance.
"Why are you acting so nervous?" She questioned, looking at me with looks filled with suspicion. My heart began pounding again furiously.
"And why is your heartbeat that loud?" She inquired, throwing me tons of questions at once.
'Just what was up with this girl?' I wondered, feeling the urge to smack myself. She was a wolf, of course, and looked like one from a high rank, so of course, she would hear it.
There was silence for a few minutes, and I was about to reply to her when the hostel room door opened, and a black-haired girl dressed in a similar outfit came out.
"Oh, you must be the new student that Mr. Jones brought in today," she said, clapping her hands, smiling widely, and, before I knew it, pulled me in for a hug.
My jaw dropped, eyes popping out. No one has ever hugged me before.
"Nice to meet you, I am Charlie," she introduced herself while releasing me from the hug and bringing out her hand for me to shake.
I stood there stunned for a while till the cream-haired girl coughed, bringing me back to earth.
"Dawn," I told her with a thin smile while shaking her hand.
"Nice name." she complimented, and I replied with a smile.
"What are you all doing outside? Come on in," she added and dragged me with one hand, the cream-haired girl with another, and took us both into the room.
My lips parted and before I could stop myself, my mouth fell agape, my hands reaching for it, covering it. The room was thrice the size of my uncle's apartment.
It was covered in purple paint with white stripes at the edges. There were three huge beds in the room, one on the left, one on the right, and another in the middle.
While gazing around the room with the thin lines of my brows jumping in surprise, I noticed there were two separate doors in the room and wondered what they were for.
"Oh! That's the bathroom and closet," the black-headed girl informed me while coming close, with a glittering smile.
"Oh," I muttered, throwing her a confused glance, wondering how she knew what was on my mind.
"I saw you looking at the door curiously," she answered again, like she read my mind.
"Let her ask the questions before answering, Charlie, it's not like she is mute," the cream-haired girl spoke while cat-walking into one of the rooms.
Surprisingly, I could feel a sign of a threat coming from the cream-haired girl and wondered why.
"Ignore Scarlett, she is like that, but she will come around later. Probably in a bad mood or something," Charlie pacified me, probably noticing my expression.
I nodded to her, and just then the bell rang.
"Time for lunch," Charlie informed me and to my surprise, started jumping up and down. Scarlett came out of the bathroom and walked out of the room without sparing any of us a glance.
Charlie helped me set things up before dragging me into a very large dining hall where students gathered for their meals.
I was wowed once again but decided to stop showing my amused expression because Scarlett kept throwing me suspicious glances, like she could sense I didn't belong here.
We sat around a large table after ordering, and I felt so out of place. Every one of them looked like what they were.
"Rich kids," which I was not.
Charlie kept trying to make me mingle, as did some other nice kids, but I could not. My body was twitching uncomfortably, and I was starting to feel suffocated.
I started to get up to get some air when Scarlett stopped me.
"So, Dusk," she called out, and I saw Charlie hit her with a strict expression before correcting her.
"It's Dawn, Scarlett."
"Oh, my bad! Dawn," she called out, with a playful edge to her tone, and the rest of the girls burst into laughter while Charlie threw me a look of apology.
'This was it,' I thought and looked downwards at my feet unconsciously, my fingers shaking again. That was one of my bad habits. My fingers shook anytime I felt nervous or scared.
"Who is Mr. Jones to you, Dawn? For as far as I know, he only has one granddaughter, which is Mary here," Scarlett revealed, and I felt my world collapsing.
'His granddaughter was here?' I thought in disbelief, unconsciously looking around briskly, trying to find her, and then the red bell in me suddenly rang out loud.
"She is a peasant who saved my old man's life, and to reward her, she was given a scholarship to study here," I heard a tiny voice say, and my legs wobbled, my mind racing.
"What?" Everyone shrieked.
Dawn's POV.Seeing Summer blabber about resuming Lunar Venus just to be close to my mates, made my blood boil.I was surprised to see that Catty, who turned out to be the cousin and not actual sisters of the triplets didn't seem to like Summer and it was obvious through Summer's eyes that the feeling was mutual.I wasn't surprised though because it seemed Summer hated anyone who could stand against her and resist her tactics.I also understood that she was pretending and trying to kiss Catty's ass just to make the triplets have a good impression about her. No wonder, they believed she couldn't hurt a fly.'She was such a good actress and has had them completely fooled but what about now?' I wondered as I glanced towards the triplets who didn't seem thrilled to see her around us.Their gazes towards her weren't friendly neither were they hostile but they were void of the care they usually directed towards her.I decided not to say anything and just observe but then, Summer had to get o
Summer's POV."She is our mate, Catty." I heard Devon's voice and stopped mid-stairs, my eyes widening slightly. Was it Dawn he was calling their mate? Like all three of them? But I thought Dominic was joking when he told me that day I caught them, sexually touching them.Come to think of it, Dominic never jokes, so he was being serious, and that peasant was truly their mate?"What the heck!" I muttered under my breath, pissed as I continued walking down the stairs with my head raised properly. That troublesome, witch, Catty Wheels was back, and I mustn't make a slip in front of her, otherwise she would go chattering off to Mrs. Lopez about how I wasn't fit to be the future Luna of the triplets.Catty was a pain in my neck that I so much wish I could get rid of, but it was impossible, considering both the Alphas and their mum strongly cherished her.Something that had to do with her weirdo of a mum, who loved cats, but I couldn't care less. My job was to impress Catty and make her lov
Dawn's POV."Why are you laughing, Dawn?" Devon asked me with a worried glance, but I didn't answer him, nor did I stop laughing, because deep within, I also had no idea why I was laughing. Was it because I finally felt happy in a long while, or was it because I realized that they had actually been trying to protect me unknowingly, even though they were jerks sometimes?I turned to glance at Dominic, who wouldn't stop staring at me either. Then, slowly, I saw it: his face crumpling into a truly beautiful smile that sent a warm feeling through my heart."Thank you," I whispered, and he nodded, still smiling but never taking his eyes off me.I began to feel my cheeks burn as I shifted my body on the bed, my hand almost meeting his.It was like I had forgotten the other two were in the room as I gulped down the saliva that gathered in my mouth.I was about to say something further when I heard a knock on the door. Like that, the spell was broken as we all turned simultaneously to know wh
Dawn's POV.I stood there, stunned, with Dominic's arms still wrapped around me. It wasn't just the hugging that was shocking, but also the way he patted my head gently and apologized. He felt and smelled so warm as I unconsciously buried my head deeper into his chest. Moon purred in my head as she enjoyed his attention.Just then, I heard growls behind us and raised my head to see both Derek and Devon gritting their teeth against one another as they stared at Dominic and me."Dawn, please, could we talk?" Devon asked."We are really sorry and admit that we have been so nonchalant about your feelings," Derek said, and I sighed, not knowing what to say.To think the Alphas could actually apologize to someone.Dominic let go of me and led me to the bed. He sat beside me, on the right, as I sat in the middle of the bed. Devon sat opposite me, almost at my back, while Derick sat to my left."The situation with Summer was never meant to happen. It was unexpected, a situation where we felt
“ Why?” I asked, heading towards her.My palms were sweaty, my stomach twisting into knots as I did my best to keep myself from bursting into tears again. DAWN'S POV." What?" I questioned, a torrent of thoughts swirling through my head as the words flowed into my ears. 'Was I perhaps hallucinating?' I inwardly pondered." You heard right, Dawn" Charlie spoke up, a glint of mischief in her eyes which I regrettably overlooked, believing she would be the
