Chapter 7

Gina POV

“Good morning, board members. I am sure that you all are wondering why I am here instead of your regular Ethan. I will briefly say that he met his demise early. But that is not what I am here for today. As we all know about the president’s impending visit on Tuesday, we have a lot of loop holes to cover due to the former director’s ill practices. And before that, I will do a quick reshuffle,” I addressed them confidently and waited for them to get comfortable before I throw the bomb I had in stock for them.

I gave Kira a signal to proceed with the names she had on her list. Today, I was going to remove the bad dogs that embezzled the company’s funds with Ethan while he still was alive.

“Mr. Philips.”

“Mrs. Luo.”

“Mr. Davidson.”

“Mr. Williams.”

Kira called the very names and they stared at each other wondering the next action to come. I knew that within them, they understood their crime.

However, they were not the only ones but they were the prominent dogs that needed to be slashed off immediately.

“I hereby, announce that these individuals shall no longer be members of this company as they shall be dismissed on this day. If you are wondering the reason for such decision, you can go to the headquarters and find out from the president himself. Kindly exit the meeting room if you were mention,” I authoritatively said and they angrily left the room.

They should be lucky that I didn’t call the police on them. Their act was fraudulent and they deserved to be punished but I didn’t want to do extra miles in my new position.

“Is there anybody that wishes to question the president’s decision?” I used him as a shield to protect myself and also give out commands.

When no one spoke up, I took their silence as a census to proceed to the next subject of the meeting.

“Good, now we will be addressing the matter at hand. As it stands, we have five hundred million dollars to place on the president’s plate within two days. And that is a whooping amount of money. The stakes are high, the digits are inaccurate, and the time from to generate such amount is limited. That is why I have called on to everyone to rub minds as one. The finance team manager, we will start with you first,” I muttered menacingly.

I was ready to take whatever measures to make the impossible happen in two days. If we were unable to raise such money before the time of our bell runs off, then we are as good as dead.

“I don’t have much to attribute…”

“You are fired. Production team manager, you are next. What do you have for us aside nothing?”

I was going to sieve them out one by one, that way; I would be able to run the company without loss. Then I will employ new members that would tremble each time they hear about me.

This was my tactics and not an act of wickedness. For a company to progress, one has to use an iron fist while being nice at least.

“I have made a blueprint for the marketing team; we are to make new products…”

“That is another fund Mr. Alfred. We want to increase our income and not creating more expenses. If you don’t have anything to add, you might as well leave us,” I interrupted him and waited for his next reply.

“Well, the product has a potential of yielding more profit while accumulating our income. The former Director had refused the proposal when it was submitted and I still hold that it will be a good business to venture into at this moment.”

“How fast will it be able to get us the amount we are looking for?”

“It has every information needed the only thing that is left is an order to release it to the marketing team,” he said the words that I wanted to hear but there was always doubt left in an idea.

“What you have said sounds promising but what if it fails? The whole world is going to hear about the launch. What if the product doesn’t sell? That would be another loss,” I twirled the pen I was holding between my fingers.

“I assure you that there won’t be such problem like that. We will take the world by surprise and trust me; we have enough customers that would patronize the product.”

I looked at him for a while and picked up the confidence in his demeanor. He had trust in himself so it is best I give him a chance to prove his idea.

“Alright, that is it for today. We finally got an investor so make sure to put enough effort at raising our appointed threshold. At this point, I call this meeting to an end. Please do endeavor to work extra hard and everyone should be at work tomorrow. There won’t be any weekend this period,” I told them before leaving the room with Kira.

After the meeting, we went to the places that needed my presence; however, the meeting with the investor was postponed till next week.

“Kira, are we done for today’s visits?” I asked as we walked down to the parking lot.

“Yes, would you like to have dinner at a fancy restaurant? You look pretty stressed and I think it would be nice if you ate something delicious and healthy. Tomorrow will be a hectic day,” she suggested.

“That is nice of you, Kira but I have something important to take care of at home. I will take my leave now,” I said and she understood my point.

We went back to the company and once it was six, I drove back home to my kids.

“Zekel and Zekira, Mommy is home,” I announced but none of them answered instead the cold still house echoed my voice. Worry began to surface as I went around in search of my kids but they were gone.
