Eliana's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes.

He was standing there like nothing had happened. Like the back of his hand wasn't bleeding. Like he hadn't just caught a full-force punch out of the air with his bare palm because it was headed for my face. He still had his gaze fixed on the corridor in the direction Jax had just disappeared … looking all steady and unbothered — like he was making sure the threat was actually gone before he let his attention go elsewhere.

I moved before I made the decisi

  • MATED TO THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE.   Chapter 60 — Riding to School With Both of Them

Darius POVAll of this … every single bit of this morning, was Rylan's fault. He had done what he did, turned me into a dog, kept me in that form for God knows how long, and then sat back and watched the fallout like it was entertainment. And now Eliana was walking out of the house not wanting to hear my name and I was standing in the sitting room with a sleep-walking story that nobody believed, and Rylan was on the couch with his phone like none of this had anything to do with him.No! He was not getting away with this.I had let it go earlier because I was focused on getting dressed and trying to fix things with Eliana and there was only so much I could deal with at once. But right now, in this moment, I had reached the limit of what I was prepared to let sit unaddressed.I crossed the room fast and hit his shoulder … not soft about it, and leaned in close enough

  • MATED TO THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE.   Chapter 59 — Such Guts From Him!

Eliana's POVI was dressed for school already, picking my things and putting them in my school bag, trying to give my hands something to do because my hands being busy meant my brain had less room to spiral.Rylan was on the couch scrolling through his phone, minding his business, which was the version of him I appreciated most on mornings like this one. No commentary. No questions. Just existing quietly in the same space and not making things harder.I was doing okay. I mean, I was doing absolutely fine. You know, I was going to go to school and focus on my academics and not spend the entire day thinking about this morning. The fact is that I really doubted that was going to be possible, but I was going to try.I heard footsteps and then Darius's voice came. "Eliana."And I kept packing my bag without stopping, because I already knew from the direction of his footsteps and the specific quality of how he said my name that he was coming over here to explain something. He came to stand

  • MATED TO THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE.   Chapter 58 — From the Dream and Now to Reality?

Eliana's POVAt this point, I could tell that I had to be dreaming.Because the scene playing out around me … Darius in my bed, the towel situation, Rylan in the doorway looking personally offended, me holding the towel like I had any explanation for that — had that particular quality of dreams where things kept escalating past the point of what reality would allow and yet somehow kept going anyway. And the fact that I wasn't fully in control of my actions right there made it even easier to believe it was all a dream. You know, dreams moved your hands and your mouth for you and you watched it happen from somewhere slightly behind your own eyes.I really hoped that what came next was going to be very different from this. And then my alarm started ringing. That sharp, unrelenting morning sound that pulled you out of wherever you were … dream or otherwise, and th

  • MATED TO THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE.   Chapter 57 — Couldn't Believe This Was All Happening

Eliana's POVMy eyes were still halfway open, in that hazy state where you are technically awake but your brain is still catching up on the details. The first thing I registered was warmth. The second thing was that the warmth was human. And the third thing, arriving just a beat behind the first two, was the specific texture of skin under my palm that confirmed beyond any reasonable doubt that I was not lying beside a dog anymore.‘I thought I went back to my room last night.’That thought came in clearly and then immediately raised 6 more questions I didn't have answers to. Because yes, I had come to my room. I remembered coming to my room. I remembered the dog and the ceiling and falling asleep with my hand in fur that was very much fur and not whatever this was.So how did a human being end up in my bed between then and now?I needed to look. As I couldn't just lie here with my hand on a mystery person's chest and pretend this was fine with me. I needed to see who this was so I cou

  • MATED TO THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE.   Chapter 56 — I Thought I Was Into Darius

Rylan's POVJust at the exact moment I was about to have this … the moment right there, within reach as the space between us already doing what it was doing … Dog Darius barked. And that was it.That one bark was all it took. It was all perfectly placed as the timing was so specific that if I hadn't known better I would have said it was intentional.Which it absolutely was.And the worst part was that I could hear him through the link, because even though the mind control had a shelf life that Rylan had not fully accounted for…yet the voice ragged from fighting the influence I'd put on him. And so, the words were coming through slowly and strained but very much present."Rylan fu*king Daman, you son of a bitch."He sounded tired. Genuinely tired, in the way that came from spending hours fighting vampire mind control i

  • MATED TO THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE.   Chapter 55 — His Turn to Clean Her Up

Eliana's POVAs soon as I stood right in front of him with the napkin, ready to just handle the practical task and move on, my eyes landed on his chest and didn't immediately cooperate with moving on.‘Oh my God, he is so hot.’That thought was loud and immediate … and I was keeping it exactly where it was, which is right behind my face and nowhere near my expression or anything Rylan could read.I placed the napkin against his chest and started cleaning it."Thank you." He said."Mmmhmmm." Was what came out of me, which was not a word but was the best I had available right at that moment while simultaneously trying to clean wine off someone's chest without letting on that the chest was doing something to my ability to breathe normally.I moved the napkin across, focusing on the task, keeping my breathing as even as I c
