CHAPTER 18

RUBY’S POV

Monday came around again and Sally was ready for school.

The bus had just arrived so I walked her out and I stood by the porch to watch her get into the bus. Then she waved at me through the window and I did the same while she mouthed a goodbye to me.

Once the bus was gone, I saw Dax walking toward me from the other side of the street and I waited to hear what he had to say to me even though I was still mad at him for leaving me like that at the club.

“Off to school uh?” he asked, referring to Sally when he finally joined me on the porch and I nodded, my hands securely folded across my chest as a way to try and keep my inner panic at a minimum because I was still freaking out about our kiss.

I bet he wouldn't feel the same way because Magenta was just a random masked dancer in a club that he was probably momentarily obsessed with and was soon going to get bored of. Just like he would with me if I let him in again.
