AN UGLY NEWS REVEALS ITSELF

CHAPTER FIVE

ONE MONTH LATER

A whole month, Sophia raved.

One month since their night and she had heard nothing from Henry… not even the peep of one text message from him.

She had thought with everything she revealed and everything that transpired between them that he would want her more than ever.

It was almost as if he wanted nothing to do with her, almost as if he did not care about her and that would simply not do. She needed him and everything he had to offer and if he did not want the easy way then she was going to have to do it the hard way.

She picked up her phone and dialed his number, her fingers crossed and her teeth grating against each other.

“Henry” She whined.

“Sophia” Henry responded.

“I don’t know if this is the right time to call you but I have been waiting for your call and… I was worried” Her voice dropped.

“I am sorry, I have been swamped with work and I have been meaning to text you these past couple of days” He responded.

Text me, my ass! Sophia fumed. Past couple of days? It has been a whole freaking month.

“We have to see, Henry. I have something I wish for us to talk about and I do not know how you are going to take it but I promise to go with whatever you want” She declared.

“Is it something serious?” Henry asked

“It is quite serious”

“Then we should meet up today. Send me a text with your house address and I will come to you after work.”

“Or better still, I could meet you at your house and we can talk there. It is really something I do not want an external person hearing if you know what I mean”

“Do not go to my home” He warned. “We can meet up at the bar and then we can talk about this important thing” He told her

“Okay, See you” Sophia whispered, hanging up.

Do not go to his home? She scoffed.

Well, with the news she had to tell had to tell him, going to his home should be the last thing on his mind.

She rose to her feet and reached for the dress she had planned to wear today. It was one that would do a lot to bring out her curves and the color of her eyes because what she was about to tell Henry was going to rock his whole world.

She chuckled as she stepped into the bathroom for a bath.

Henry wondered what Sophia was on about.

As much as he had wanted to call her, he had maintained that space because… the truth was he felt bad about what had happened between them that night.

He could not remember the sex but he felt like an asshole which was something he never felt.

Every day waking up to Elodie staring at him like he was the scum of the earth was enough to prick his conscience and he was yet to speak to his mother about the things Sophia had told him.

He was as confused about his feelings for her as he was about his new found pity for Elodie. It was almost as if she had snuck into his heart unawares.

He was noticing her for the first time, her smile, the color of her eyes, the weirdly erotic swish of her hips as she walked and it was grating on his last nerves.

This morning, he had almost asked her if she wanted to go out for dinner with him when he returned.

He did not love her, that much he knew so what was this?

The call from Sophia was enough to snap him out of his lust for his wife. He had to remember that he loved Sophia, had always and would always love her.

Whatever lust he was feeling for Elodie at the moment will have to go away.

Elodie on the other hand was beyond livid at Henry.

She hated him as much as she had loved him.

He was still unaware of her knowing about the night he had spent with Sophia and she had decided never to bring it up. She was going to be his wife, all smiling and meek and then she was going to figure out a way to ask for a divorce.

It should not be hard seeing as he felt nothing for her and it would give him the freedom to be with her if he wanted.

She was thinking about this before the doorbell rang

“Coming” She muttered.

She turned the door knob, coming face to face with none other than Sophia.

“What are you doing here?” She asked

“I am supposed to be meeting Henry” Sophia smiled, her eyes glittering with malice.

“Well, Henry is not here and you have the nerve coming to my home to meet with my husband” Elodie snapped.

“Oh, I am sorry; have I offended you, Mrs Ford?” The sarcasm dripped from her tone.

“My husband is not her so you can leave”

“I will much rather wait here or inside for him if you don’t mind. I really have something important to say to him and I think you should know about it too” She mocked.

“I do not think I want to hear anything you have to say, Sophia. You can have Henry, I do not care anymore what you both do but do it away from my home”

“Elodie, listen…”

Her voice trailed off at the beep of Henry’s car entering the driveway.

Elodie glared as the car door opened and he got down, his eyes going from one woman to another.

“I asked you not to come here” He turned to Sophia.

“I know what you said but Henry…”

“I do not want to hear this” Elodie interrupted, turning away from them with tears in her eyes.

“I am pregnant” Sophia announced.
