The wail of police sirens echoed along the small bridge, now crowded with people. Lights from patrol cars and ambulances reflected off the darkening surface of the water. Divers were still busy below, while several officers secured the scene.

Samuel’s car screeched to a halt at the barricade. He got out in a rush, his face pale, his eyes red. Bani, his assistant, ran to catch up from behind.

A police officer immediately approached. “Mr. Samuel Wilson?”

Samuel nodded quickly. “Yes, that’s me. Where is my family? Where are they?” His voice cracked, filled with both panic and impatience.

The officer swallowed hard before answering softly. “Mr. Samuel, so far the rescue team has only managed to recover the driver and one female passenger. The driver could not be saved.”

Samuel froze. His lips stiffened. “Then, who was the female passenger recovered?”

“Your younger sister, Miss Sindy Wilson. She’s in critical condition and has just been taken to the nearest hospital. The medical team said

Rebecca sat leaning against the headboard. Fatigue made her eyes heavy, but her mind only grew more active. The room was so quiet. No Catrine, no Louis, only herself with the confusion that still pierced. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. “The accident, I remember everything. The car, the water, then darkness.” Her fingers gripped the blanket. “Why am I in someone else’s body now?” With trembling hands, Rebecca reached for the remote on the nightstand. She turned on the television, hoping there would be information that could answer her questions. The screen displayed the morning news. A female newscaster read with a calm voice: “Sad news still shrouds the Wilson family. The wife of young businessman, Mr. Samuel Wilson, was declared dead in the accident that occurred four days ago. Mr. Samuel’s mother, who was in the same vehicle, also could not be saved. Meanwhile, their son, Reno Barra Wilson, and Mr. Samuel’s younger sister, Sindy Wilson, remain in critical condi

Rebecca slowly opened her eyes. Her vision spun, and the unfamiliar room made her heartbeat quicken. The walls were decorated with cream wallpaper with golden carvings, silk curtains draped over the large windows, and a crystal chandelier hung overhead. Everything looked far too luxurious and unreal. “Samuel…?” her voice was hoarse. She tried to sit up, but her body felt weak. “Reno? Where are you?” The bedroom door suddenly opened. An elegant woman in a simple gown entered, followed by a man in a neat suit. The moment the woman saw Rebecca, she let out a small cry and rushed forward. “Ellya! Oh God, Ellya, you’re awake!” The woman hugged Rebecca tightly, tears streaming down her face, her voice trembling. Rebecca was stunned. “E-excuse me, who are you? Don’t call me Ellya. I’m not Ellya.” The woman froze, then turned toward the man behind her in confusion. The man, called Louis, immediately stepped closer, trying to calm her. “Ellya, I’m your father. You’ve been asleep for so l

Samuel and Bani had arrived at the hospital. Samuel walked quickly, with Bani following behind. Several hospital staff bowed respectfully as they passed, as if they knew who they were accompanying. A police officer was already waiting in front of the morgue. His face was stiff, clearly carrying heavy news. “Mr. Samuel,” the officer greeted softly, “the body is ready to be shown. We ask you to prepare yourself.” Samuel immediately glared at him. “Open it now. I want to see. I want to make sure myself that it is not my wife.” Bani tried to hold Samuel’s arm. “Sir, please, take a breath first.” But Samuel brushed him off harshly. “I’m fine! Open it!” With heavy hearts, the staff pushed forward the gurney covered with a white cloth. Samuel stepped closer quickly, his heart pounding violently. The officer gave a signal, and the cloth was slowly pulled away. The unpleasant stench instantly hit the air. The body was bloated, skin peeling, the face almost unrecognizable. Sam

Chapter 204The cremation process was completed. The ashes of Mrs. Wanna Wilson were placed neatly in a simple white urn, adorned with floral carvings on its sides. Samuel held the urn tightly as he walked out of the crematorium, his face still pale, his eyes red from holding back tears too long. That afternoon, the cemetery was already filled with many people. Relatives, family friends, and even some of Samuel’s old business clients came to offer their condolences. A white tent was erected in the burial area, rows of chairs were neatly arranged, and white flowers were placed on both sides.Bani stayed close by, making sure everything went smoothly. He occasionally greeted arriving guests and directed them to their seats.“Mr. Samuel, my condolences,” said one relative while shaking his hand.Samuel only nodded, his voice faint, “Thank you.”An old client also came, approaching with a concerned expression. “We were all so shocked to hear this news. Your mother was a highly respected w

Morning arrived, the sunlight beginning to pierce through the thin mist above the river. Yet the search still yielded no results. Rebecca and Reno had not been found.Samuel stood motionless at the edge of the bridge since the night before. His eyes were swollen, his face weary. Bani remained by his side without leaving.A police officer approached again. “Mr. Samuel, I understand you want to wait. But for now, it’s best if you go home first. Your mother’s body has already been taken to the hospital. The hospital staff are also requesting your presence for further arrangements.”Samuel did not immediately respond. His gaze remained fixed on the dark surface of the water. Then, in a hoarse voice, he said, “If I leave, who will wait for them here?”Bani gently touched his shoulder. “Sir, I know how you feel. But Madam Wanna must be taken care of. We cannot delay it too long.”Samuel let out a heavy sigh. “Rebecca, Reno, wait a little. I will return.”At last, with weary steps, Samuel le

The search continued until the early hours of the morning. Floodlights were directed at the surface of the water, illuminating the divers who still took turns going in. The night air grew colder, the occasional sound of ambulance sirens adding to the tense atmosphere.Samuel stood at the edge of the bridge, his body exhausted, his face pale. Bani stayed by his side, occasionally offering him water, but Samuel only shook his head. The little robot Reno was still tightly clutched in his hands.A police officer approached. “Mr. Samuel, we just received a report from the divers’ team. One victim has just been recovered.”Samuel immediately straightened up, his heart pounding fast. “Who? Tell me, who was found?”The officer lowered his head briefly, then answered carefully. “Mrs. Wanna Wilson, your mother.”Samuel froze. His eyes blinked several times, as if refusing to believe what he had just heard. “Mommy?”“Yes, Sir,” the officer continued. “She was already lifeless when found. The pre
