Liora’s POV

My alarm rang before the sun came up, waking me from my hard earned sleep. I lay there for a bit, looking up, thinking if last night was just some weird dream. A butler at my place telling me I was part of the richest families out there? Yeah, right.

But those pictures, the birth certificate, and how Elias talked—it seemed too true to just think of as some horrible mistake or well thought of prank.

I got out of bed, headed to my bathroom to brush my teeth, and was spitting out water when the doorbell rang.

“Great. I knew who would come by so early.” I said to myself as I dragged my feet to the answer the door.

When I swung the door open, Elias was there. He looked just like he did last night—sharp suit, looking like he just stepped out of a magazine for sugar-daddies. In contrast, I was a mess, like I'd battled against a rhinoceros, my hair disheveled like I just got exorcised.

"You're here early," I noted, leaning against the door. "Is there some rich guy's secret schedule you follow that we don't know about?"

A small smile showed on his face. "Sorry if I woke you."

I let him in with a casual shrug. "No worries. It's just, I'm not used to having guests. Or folks popping by to say I'm supposedly linked to some big family. Want some coffee?"

“No need to trouble yourself.”

"Too late," I said, on my way to the kitchen. "If I'm going to walk into a big house with folks who say they're my kin, I need my coffee."

We sat down to scrambled eggs and toast—cheap, easy, the normal stuff. Elias ate it as if it was a grand meal, and for some reason, that made me warm up to him a bit more.

When I went to switch clothes, I picked a plain dress. Not showy, just tidy. Good enough so no one could say I didn't care, but also not so different that I’d feel fake.

“Ready?” Elias asked as I came back.

“As I’ll ever be,” I said low, taking my bag.

The car waiting outside was smooth, black, and too shiny for my area. I slid into the back seat with Elias and saw another man driving. He was quiet, a pro. The drive lasted almost an hour along quiet streets, my mind racing, until we slowed down.

When I looked out the window, I gasped.

Ahead stood the Blackwood mansion, like a scene from a fancy magazine. Big green lawns, tall stone walls, water fountains shooting up like glass. My heart squeezed. This was a place folks talked about in low voices, a house that got in the news—the heart of the Blackwood pack empire.

I swallowed hard. “This can’t be real,” I murmured. “People don’t actually live in places like this. They film movies here.”

Elias didn’t comment. The driver pulled up to the front steps, and I followed Elias out, my nerves buzzing like electricity, amplified by the pull of hidden blood ties.

Inside, I expected chaos—stylists, wedding planners, a small army preparing for one of the biggest events of the year. Instead, the house was calm. Almost too calm.

And then I saw her.

Selene Blackwood.

She wasn’t surrounded by a team of assistants. She wasn’t dripping in diamonds. She was in a simple dress, hair pulled back, setting the dining table like an ordinary woman.

When she saw us, her face lit up. “Elias! You found her!”

Her eyes landed on me. Genuine warmth filled them. “You must be Liora.”

I nodded stiffly. “That’s me. Thanks for not having security throw me out.”

Selene laughed softly. “I’m so glad you’re here.”

I wasn't sure how to take that. "Yeah... look, I still can't shake the feeling that I'm in a TV show. So, could you start over? Slow."

And she did. She went over everything Elias had said last night—the love, the split-up, when I was born, the noise around it. She spoke easy, her eyes fixed, but each word made me doubt even more, even as my omega senses warmed to her familiar presence.

After she stopped, I put my arms over my chest. "So you're saying my whole life is like a big news story? Sorry if I can’t just... take that."

"I get it's a lot," Selene spoke quietly. "You don’t have to take it all now. Give it some time."

“Good, because I plan to.” I stepped back toward the door. “Thanks for the tea party invite, but I think I’ll head home now before my brain explodes.”

“Wait, please.” Selene’s tone shifted—gentle but urgent. “At least stay until after the wedding. Just a few days. Please. I also want you to meet my fiancé… today.”

I hesitated, my hand on my bag, as millions of thoughts ran through my mind. Finally, I exhaled. “Fine. I’ll meet him. But if he growls to mark dominance I’m out.”

“Trust me he is not.” Selene said and as if on cue the sound of footsteps came from behind me.

“Babe!” She screamed like a little kid.

I turned, expecting some lycan, with nine tails or at least someone intimidating and out of this world.

But it was neither of those things. It was him. The big fish. The man from last night. The one-night stand.

The words left my mouth before I could stop them.

“You.

Selene’s pov“ Hey darling… how are you feeling today?” My mother asked as soon as she saw me step out into the hallway.I smiled, “ of course you know I surely feel good. Especially for my sister, she delayed hers just to make sure we could get our gender reveal done on the same day.How intentional of her to actually want to bond with her long lost sister.”Her face was cold, and only when I tapped her shoulder did she get startled, and turned to me.“ Yeah sure.. er.. yeah she did good. Just never sure of that girl you know, I always feel there is something crazy she is hiding, and i don't know why I feel it, but trust me I am not one to get these wrong assumptions. It's just sad enough that I cannot properly place what exactly it is.”She shrugged and I went mute. She was actually becoming scary with this gimmick and it had gotten concerning. But then again looking at the person in question, Liora seemed wholesomely genuine. She didn't seem like one who would go out of her way t

Liora’s pov“What…” Selene glanced at the loaded bag on the ground and then at me. “What’s going on? I-I was hearing yelling. Is everything alright?”“Everything’s fine, Selene, you don’t need to worry about anything and if you don’t believe me, you can ask Liora. At least you can take her word for it,” Darius left a kiss on Selene’s cheek before heading out.Selene immediately rushed to me. She stared from head to toe, checking out the clothes I wore and my packed back.“The necklace…why aren’t you wearing it? Is it broken or are you just tired of wearing it,” I could feel the hurt in her voice.Darius might be right. Leaving like this would hurt Selene. I won’t run away from my problems just because they’re stacking up. “It’s none of that, Selene. I’m fine now. You don’t need to worry about me,” I said with a genuine smile.Selene tied her arms around me, giving me a warm hug. “Don’t hesitate to tell me when you feel it’s too much for you to handle.”Selene and Darius had left so I

Liora’s povDarious checked if there was any one in the passage before shutting the door behind him.“What the hell are you doing, Liora?” He asked with a curious but disappointed look on his face.“Take a guess, Darius,” I said with the intention of pushing him aside but he firmly held onto me. “Let me go!”“Why now? You could’ve left two months ago, hell, you could’ve left after the wedding. So why now? What are you unhappy with that didn’t bother you two months ago? Is it because of Selene’s pregnancy? Are you unhappy that she’s welcoming a bundle of fresh joy into her life?”“Don’t be ridiculous, Darius! How the hell would I be sad that my own sister is pregnant? Don’t you see how happy she is?” I grunted while breaking from his grasp.Darius blocked the door with his huge figure. It was clear that he didn’t want to let me go. I simply wanted to leave without alerting anyone but if I continued to fight with Darius and cause a scene, Selene would find out about my plans of departur

Liora’s pov “Me,” I gestured while pointing at myself. “Yes, you,” she said out loud. The slow jam in the background got paused and everyone’s eyes was on me. I had begun to wonder how a party was organized in the house I live in without me being invited.“I never sent you an invitation to this party, so why are you here?” Ravenna increased the volume of her voice. The crowd had started to murmur amongst themselves. I didn’t feel embarrassed because she was the one embarrassing herself. Her guest must think she was out of her mind because these were the same guest that were present at Selene’s and Darius’s wedding. Selene had introduced me to everyone. They all know me as Selene’s sister and Ravenna’s daughter. “Uhm uhh… I think you’re mistaken mum,” Selene immediately rushed to her and slowly snatched the microphone from her. I could see her whisper something to Ravenna and it wasn’t something nice.“She had just mistaken Liora for someone else. I mean why would she be kicking h

  • MY FORBIDDEN MATE   Chapter 22:It can’t keep up like this

Liora’s pov“Correct yourself, mum,” Selene said with a straight face.“I spoke proper grammar. I don’t need corrections,” Ravenna stated boldly. I just stood there staring at Ravenna while she glared back at me. “Why’d you think it’s ok to speak to Liora like she’s an outsider?” Selene asked in anger. “Joy has finally grazed the doorstep of our family and you’re working extra hard to ruin it. Why are you like this?”“Firstly, I can speak to her any way I like because quite frankly, she’s an outsider. Secondly, I’ve always been like this against outsiders so don’t pretend like it’s your first time seeing me act this way and finally, I’ve given my final decision and I won’t let you leave this house,” Ravenna frowned her face.I could see that Selene wasn’t in the mood for verbal fight or picking sides so I decided to let Ravenna have her way.“It’s ok, Selene. You don’t need to come today. There’s always tomorrow. I’ll be fine on my own,” I gave an odd smile before running off.The f

  • MY FORBIDDEN MATE   Chapter 21 My Worst Nightmare

Liora’s povI’ve been longing for sweet things these days. When I’m at work I try as much as I can to get my hands on candy before I start working and now that I’m at home, I’ve filled my fridge with different varieties of cakes and chocolate.I’m eating one right now and I can’t help but think that it’s the baby that’s making me have these things. I'm usually fond of bitter tastes like coffee.I was snacking on my two step strawberry shortcake when I heard a loud scream downstairs. It was Selene’s voice.I immediately left what I was eating to go and inspect what the issues was about. Is there an intruder in the house? Has something caught on fire? This was usually that time of the night for such things, my assumptions roared.“What’s the matter, Selene?” I asked as soon as Ii came down the stairs.Seems like I was the last one here. Everyone was already gathered in the living room after hearing that scream.Selene immediately caught a glimpse of me in the midst of everyone. Ravenna
