SIXTY THREE

There was the sound of crying and Jane’s eyes snapped wide open only to find herself plastered on her own bed. She blinked and stared at her ceiling, looking at the shadows of moonlit clouds playing above her.

Another cry came from outside the bedroom door and Jane forced herself up with a hand to her temple, groaning. Her head felt heavy and she frowned. Why was she in her apartment? What happened? But as much as she tried to remember, her mind stubbornly remained a blank slate. With every ounce of her strength, she forced herself up on wobbly feet only to realize that underneath her fluffy blue robe, she was still wearing her swimsuit.

Opening the bedroom door, Jane found baby Timmy crying in Wayne’s arms as he failed miserably to soothe the child with a pacifier. Little Timmy wailed even louder when he saw his mother, his little face turning redder than a lobster. Jane rushed towards her child and cradled him in her arms. Hands to his side, Wayne looked flustered
