The sound of alarm blared in the small, bright room occupied by a young woman. She turned and dropped her brush on the table before walking over to her bed to turn the alarm off.

Jane was less enthusiastic about the new day, she had woken up earlier than her alarm and rushed to get ready for work. The whole office had been preparing for this day because apparently, the boss was back in town.

The workload from previous days was weighing heavily on her shoulders and she quietly cursed this boss of hers. Jane was still new to West&Co, having started work just a few months ago. She had never met her boss, but stories from her coworkers already fostered a strong dislike towards him.

They had talked about how he was precise with everything, and the extra work that had to be done for his arrival.

Letting out an exhausted sigh, she sat down on her dresser chair and combed her hair before putting it in a tight bun. She stared at herself in the mirror and forced a tight lipped smile.

Jane knew the day was going to be hectic, and she was slightly prepared.

————

The scorching sun beat down as Jane drove her BMW into the parking lot adjacent to her office building.

“Today seems much more packed and busier than usual,” Jane murmured, noticing the rows of unfamiliar cars parked in the building.

Not giving it much thought, she drove her car forward, her eyes scanning the crowded parking lot for an empty spot, and finally saw one. Jane maneuvered her car till she was perfectly parked in the space, then turned off her engine.

Just as Jane was about to open the car door, the sound of a loud crash boomed, her car jerked forward with force as she let out a scream.

Hurriedly, she pulled the car door handle before jumping out of the car.

Someone or something had hit her car from behind and she felt her heart skipping beats as her eyes widened in fear and anger.

Jane whipped her head to the left and saw the dark Benz that had crashed into her car, she tried to look into the window to see the driver but the windows were tinted.

Getting up, she dusted her suit pants and top before storming over to the other car and banging at the window, demanding that the driver roll it down.

“You just crashed into my car!” She yelled as the tinted windows moved down, revealing the driver.

In the driver seat, a young man in his mid 30s, turned to face her, his expression uninterested and bored.

“You parked in my space,” he said in a deep, smooth voice that sent chills down her spine.

He had shiny brown hair, perfectly styled at the top of his head and broad shoulders. His lips were set in a firm line, and his dark eyes narrowed slightly as he gazed at her.

Jane scoffed in disbelief, “Excuse you?! Are you crazy?! This parking lot is not your property!” She yelled at the stranger in front of her.

“It is,” he simply replied, his voice unyielding.

Her anger reached a boiling point and she was sure she was going to explode, “You don’t own a space here and you are going to pay for damaging my car, I’m calling the cops!” She replied, suppressing the overwhelming urge to slap him.

“Your car would’ve ended up at the repair shop anyways, it looks beaten,” he replied, raising a brow at her.

Jane had had enough. She turned, walked towards a stone laying on the ground, picked it up and marched towards his car. The man's eyes widened in shock as he realised what she was about to do, but it was too late.

She raised the stone and hurled it at his windshield, a sharp smile spreading across her face, “Now, we’re even.”

He stepped out of his car, his tailored suit showcasing his muscular build. His face twisted in anger and he snarled, “You bitch! How dare you?!”

Jane ignored him and walked towards the building, a satisfied smile spreading across her face now that she has taught the rude, arrogant, jerk a lesson.

“You will regret this!” He shouted, his voice through the parking lot.

Jane chuckled to herself, flipping him the bird before striding into the door to her office building.

“Jane! Where have you been? Mark is losing his mind,” Jess called out as soon as Jane stepped into the building.

“Morning to you too, Jess,” her tired voice called out, this morning had already been chaotic enough for her.

Jess let out a sigh and walked over to Jane, taking her bag from her. She ran over to her desk and dropped it, removing her ID and clipped it on her shirt.

“Come on, let’s go. All the executives are already on the top floor. The Boss has arrived,” Jess said.

Grabbing her arm, she pulled her towards the elevator and without a word, Jane followed. They arrived at the top and made their way over to the conference room, where they took seats at the long table.

Few minutes had passed before the door to the office burst open and he walked in.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Our CEO has arrived,” the executive manager announced, and the room fell silent as everyone stood up to welcome him.

Jane felt her eyes widen in complete horror and shock as she beheld the face of their boss.

“Welcome back, Mr. West,” the executive manager said, “It’s an honor to have you with us again.” He finished.

Everyone in the room applauded as they welcomed him but Jane felt her face pale in shock. Her mind went haywire as her body froze. Because standing in front of her was the stranger whose car she had vandalized.

His face remained stoic, his expression angry, until his piercing gaze met her. Her heart leapt from her ribcage as it pounded wildly in her chest. Mr. West gaze locked onto hers, a wicked smirk spreading across his face.

“What do you mean you can’t find them?” Jess asked with a hushed but panicked tone as she watched Jane go through everything in her bags and desk for the millionth time. “I… I have no idea! They were right here!” Jane replied. For some reason, Jane could not seem to identify the emotion she felt. Confusion and disorientation overwhelmed her as she continued to search in disbelief. “Maybe you accidentally took them home,” Jess suggested, trying to calm her friend down. “I’m very sure I didn’t, Jess. Besides, if I did, I’d find it in my bag but it isn’t.” Jane said, still rummaging through her things. “Do you think someone might’ve broken in?” Richard spoke up standing next to Jane with a long fur coat that didn’t fit the weather. “It was locked when I opened it and looked untouched,” Jane sighed, finally giving up the search. Those papers meant a lot to Jane; they were supposed to be a bold statement to Liam, a challenge to ‘bring it on’. But now, they are gone. She could fe

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER NINETEEN:

“Mr. Grain, this can’t possibly be real!!” Jane exclaimed as she barged into the office of her department boss. “This contains data from 2011 till date. How am I supposed to manually input all this data before tomorrow morning? This is ridiculous!” “Jane, I'm going to need you to quiet down,” Mark said, still furiously typing on his computer. “Besides, I didn’t give that order, if you have a problem with it, take it to the CEO or your husband, I presume,” he said, looking at her with a side glance. “But, you don’t see any problem with this request?” Jane asked, visibly agitated. Mark simply shrugged, obviously less concerned. “Not my problem, Jane. I simply deliver as I was told. I would advise getting to work.” Mark finished, not giving her any more of his attention. Jane threw her hands in exasperation. Stomping out of his office, she walked back to her spot trying to make sense of the sick Joke Liam seemed to be playing on her. “I would’ve offered my help, but even ten of u

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER EIGHTEEN:

The following day…The sound of an alarm blared in the large master bedroom and Jane rushed to her phone to turn it off. She could still vividly remember the feeling of awe when she saw the room that was hers to stay in. It was beyond exquisite. It had a rich golden hue with elegant bed curtains and luxurious furniture. Her clothes and belongings were already neatly arranged in this walk in closet and she wasn’t surprised. She had sent her bags to Liam’s house after the wedding and before their trip. This day, Jane had woken extra early to get to work before Liam. She hadn’t seen him since their last encounter in the living room and had spent the previous evening alone, exploring his huge mansion. Letting out another heavy sigh at Liam’s words, Jane picked up the keys he had given her, grabbed her bag and walked out of her room. It was a little past 7am and she had no idea if Liam was still asleep. They both had different rooms and Jane wasn’t sure which was Liam bedroom as t

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:

It was a very bright day and the sun beat down mercilessly but it was bearable thanks to the ocean breeze that swept through the small island. The grand west trip had finally come to an end and Jane was more than ready to go back to her reality, where Liam was simply her boss. Looking back and admiring the view, Jane's hair was swept into different directions. She took a deep breath and finally boarded the huge private plane. Unlike the last time, Fiona and Chris were joining her and Liam. She was much more pleased with the arrangement than she let on. Liam had suddenly become irritable and she wasn’t thrilled about being confined in the same space with him. Jane berated herself for thinking he was a better person. He is simply a jerk. She walked down the plane aisle before finding a comfortable spot at the corner and settling in. A few minutes later, the plane took off with the four of them on board. During mid-flight, Chris offered Jane a drink, which she had accepted and

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER SIXTEEN:

ONE WEEK LATER… Liam sat behind the large mahogany desk, shuffling through data and documents sprawled on his desk. Their trip was coming to an end now, and he wasn’t ecstatic about the work that had piled up for him to attend to. With the same deep frown etched on his face, Liam tried to focus on his work but kept getting distracted by the thought of one woman which made his frown deepen. Over the past week, he hadn’t seen Jane much. Whenever he retired to their room, she was either always with Erica or completely fast sleep. He found himself wondering how the trip was going for her. She had gone into the small towns and interacted with the locals. He hadn’t gotten the opportunity to ask how it went and he doubted he would have. They were scheduled to travel back the next day and Liam tried to focus on getting some work done. He had been tasked with cleaning his father's mess and knew it was going to be a long year. Suddenly, the door to the office burst open and Fiona walked

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER FIFTEEN:

“Erica,” Liam called out, staring at the woman standing at the doorway with a protruding belly and a wide smile. “What are you doing?” “Oh hush Liam, I’m not here for you,” she said, before turning to Jane. “Chris told me you were both stuck in the storm. The weather around here can get very unpredictable.” Erica said with a sad expression in Jane's direction. “I came to check on my sister in law. Plus, we’ve barely had enough time to bond so off you go, Liam,” Erica continued, walking towards them not caring that she had interrupted the couple. Jane let out a giggle as she watched Liam’s heavily pregnant sister push Liam out of the room. After succeeding, Erica turned to Jane with a huge smile on her face. “Oi, a pity. Poor you must’ve fallen ill,” Erica said, observing the blankets, the medicine and Jane's flushed cheeks. Jane giggled again, “I’m fine. Your accent, it’s British.” Jane said in wonder. “Ahh, yes,” Erica replied, walking up to Jane and occupying the space Li

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER FOURTEEN:

Jane gasped, stumbling back in shock and confusion at what she just heard Liam say. “Vera?” Ethan called out. The room turned quiet and Jane knew they must have heard her. Not hesitating, she turned and ran back in the direction she had come from, into her room. ‘What did they mean by that?’ She thought, confusion clouding her thoughts. Then it finally dawned on her; there was more than they were letting on. Jane was not stupid. The revelation that Liam’s father must’ve had some shady deal with her dad, forcing them into this marriage was no surprise. Her father had told her he had gotten into debt and would need her to marry some rich shot and although unbelievable, Jane hadn’t questioned it much as she was given no choice. Then she decided then and there – she was going to find out the truth and was going to leave both families a gift for playing her. Still pondering on the matter, Jane snapped back to reality at the sound of footsteps in front of the room. Quickly, she

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER THIRTEEN:

Liam turned towards where she was pointing, lost for words. The footprints were recent and couldn’t be theirs so whose were they? “Maybe farmers,” he said, looking bewildered. “Someone must’ve been around,” Jane said, still looking a bit horrified and confused. “I tried to play it cool, but something is odd around here.” “Don’t be dramatic, Jane. Let’s go. You might catch a cold,” Liam said dismissing her worries. He knew he had no explanation but the thought of someone following them was a bitt far-fetched. It could be anyone even though he knew the chances of someone passing by were low. Jane let out a sneeze thatt caught Liam’s attention. “You’ve caught a cold,” he said, his face etched with worry. Jane smiled sheepishly, “yeah, I don’t do well with the rain and cold,” she said again before letting out a sneeze. Liam noticed her face was red and her body shaking slightly with little shivers. “Let's get going,” he said, before turning around. “Oh Liam, I’m so weak,” she

  • Married To My Arrogant Boss   CHAPTER TWELVE:

Liam approached Jane, grabbing her arm a bit forcefully. “What are you doing, Liam? You’re hurting me!” She yelled, confused at Liam’s sudden and odd behavior. Suddenly, the clap of thunder filled the air, making both of them look up. The sky had darkened and heavy wind blew, whipping everything to the side. “It’s going to rain, let’s go back Liam,” Jane said, her panic rising up. Liam snapped back before abruptly releasing her arm. “Come on,” he said, leading her back into the dense bushes. Liam and Jane had barely taken a few steps before heavy rain started pouring down on them which intensified. “We need to take shelter, Jane. Come on!” Liam yelled over the loud roaring of thunder and rain. Not hesitating, Jane followed closely behind and he led her into the lighthouse that seemed to be barely staying upright. “This way,” Liam yelled, gently grabbing Jane's arm. They both got to the lighthouse relieved to finally get shelter. Drenched and utterly exhausted, Jane and L
