Christian extended his right arm. With a sigh, though reluctantly, Jessie took it and together they walked down the aisle at a slow pace as the newly wedded couple.
A few people clapped as they strolled by, except for one female in particular. She made a growling sound. Her eyes even glowed and her teeth lengthen as if she was ready to attack Jessie.
Jessie glanced up at her husband; he didn't seem to have noticed, even if he did, he hid it pretty well. As if Christian could feel Jessie gazing at him, he smiled down at her, then winked.
Causing her heart to stop for maybe the hundredth time today.
Jessie was still marvelling at how gorgeous Christian was.
Handsome wasn't the word to describe him and the way she felt after laying her eyes on him for the first time.
"Is this man my husband for real?"
"What will life with him be like?"
"What would life be like in a pack? With all these werewolves, I can tell that they all hate me."
All those thoughts floated around in Jessie's mind as they walked on, receiving fake smiles from the attendees.
Jessie allowed Christian to lead her to the massive reception area in a grand hall decorated in the most artistic and beautiful way imaginable.
Whoever decorated the place must have been a guru. The walls matched the chairs, which matched the flooring, which matched the curtains.
Everything accented to each other and flowed wonderfully together.
At the oval tables were pink and white napkins, on blue table cloths that held name cards Jessie didn't recognise, all done in swirls of gold writing. At the centre of each table were vases with three roses, pink, white, and blue.
Jessie followed Christian to a table that stood by itself just in front of a floor-to-ceiling window. Even though it seemed isolated, they still sat smack in the middle, so everyone had an unobstructed view of them.
Their table, unlike the others, had a white tablecloth, white napkins and twelve white roses, along with the simple words Mr and Mrs.
Soon after taking their seats, the servers rushed out with platters of food, rushing around the room, ensuring to make sure they served the new couple first. But Jessie couldn't eat anything. Her stomach was already full of butterflies and she feared if she ate even the smallest bite, then she might just throw up.
The awkwardness and tension full meal soon ended.
Jessie let out a heavy sigh, sad that they all drink and laugh all too loud for her liking, sending her best wishes that are full of nothing but awkward pauses and fake smiles.
But Jessie was happy that there weren't any drunk brawls, arguments or anyone trying to rip her already shi*ty hair out.
Photos were being snapped, gifts were being placed on tables as everyone took their leave.
Then it was just the two of them, a black car with heavy tinted windows and a man waited for Christian and Jessie as another packed away the presents in the car's trunk.
"Shall we?'' Again Christian took Jessie's hand to lead her to where the awaiting car was.
The moment Jessie got inside, a shiver ran down her spine, causing goosebumps to form.
"Cold?'' Christian asked.
Jessie gave a slight nod in response, watching as he shrugged out of his white jacket.
The window to the front seat was already up, giving the two as much privacy as possible.
"So, Mrs Stoll. Now that we have tied the knot, why don't we get to know each other, this will be a long car ride.''
"Do we have to?''
"Look, I know you would rather be anywhere else but here, but for this to work, we are both going to make a few changes. You will accept my lifestyle, where you are going and most of the things that you will see. The life you are used to, leave that behind because as of now. You are mine and there is no changing that.''
But honestly, after all that Jessie's father had put her through, she was glad to be anywhere but at home, but she didn't want to admit that to him.
"Ok, what would you like to know?'' Jessie asked.
"Everything.'' Christian smiled.
"Well, I don't like being called Mrs Stoll. It's just too weird and hard to get used to in such a short time, so Jessie is fine. At only nineteen, I am still in Uni to become a veterinarian. Well, I'm not anymore at least. Would love to finish though, even if it's online. My parents have four of us, three girls, one golden boy.”
‘’I'm an introvert. Contrary to popular belief, I don't enjoy drinking tea or eating Shepherd's pie. Fried chicken and garlic bread, on the other hand, is my absolute favourite. I was once a vampire. I don't enjoy talking about that aspect of my life. I enjoy being a human so much so that I wouldn't want to go back to being a vampire. And that's it, I can't think of anything else right now.''
"Now, tell me some things about you.'' Jessie turned to him fully.
"Since you started off with your name, I'll do the same. My name is Christian Stoll, I am one hundred and twenty-two years old, i-"
"Say what now?'' Jessie cut him off.
She didn't know that werewolves could live that long. She only thought that vampires did.
For a moment, Christian seemed shocked, but the look disappeared just as quickly as it came.
"I am the Alpha of a wolf pack. You, my dare Jessica, are mate. Right now, I'm taking you across a border that only werewolves can cross through, to my mansion that is fortunately or unfortunately completely surrounded by an electric fence. Nasty little thing it is, just one zap and you're dead. Assuming that you try to escape. I am going to treat you as a husband should treat their wife, as my equal and life partner. I have a separate room prepared for you, as I'm sure you might not be too keen on sleeping with me in the same bed just yet.''
"You're truly the bloody Alpha.'' Jessie rested her head in her hands as he carried on.
"I will explain more along the way on how you are to behave. One thing though, I can't let you out into the human world ever again, so please, forget about that life as you get used to this new one.''
"That is something. Yea, vampires and wolves don't mix, that is just bloody wrong. Is this some sick joke?.'' Jessie said under her breath, but Christian still heard.
"Yes, well. The Fates have quite a sense of humour if you ask me, but I know that with time we will learn to love each other and will make this work. After all, the Fates themselves, fated us to each other.''
Jessie turned away from Christian to look out the window, but she knew he was right; the Fates made no mistakes, and there must be a reason for this union.
After being so out of touch with the other world, all of this was so new to Jessie.
She was already planning to run away when she got the chance. There was no way she would stay with Christian and those hateful people that were present at her wedding.
"You have nothing to worry about. I will take care of you. And that life you lived before will seem like nothing but a distant memory.
Jessie could tell he had more to say, but it seemed as if they had arrived.
The car skidded to a stop as it pulled up outside a huge, beautiful house. Jessie's eyes widen at how beautiful it looked. The clean all-white of the painted outside gleamed under the dim moonlight, making it seem as if it was straight out of a fairy tale. The moon laces in full bloom made it even more surreal. Jessie couldn't believe it. This was where she'll be living from now on. And it was already much better than the room she had to share with her siblings. If Christian really does as he said and treated Jessie well, or as an equal, and not be an abusive physio, then she just might be comfortable there. ''Maybe it wouldn't be so bad living in a house full of wolves or a community with them.'' Jessie thought. Like a gentleman, Christian got out of the car first, walked around to Jessie's side of the car, and let her out. It took a great deal for Jessie to get out of the car, even with the help
Christian aggressively wiped at his lips and stared at the pink lipstick that now stained his lips as well. He shook his head to come out of his state of confusion, then chased after Jessie. "What the hell? One minute you are kissing me, the next you are screaming in my face.'' He shouted after her, but because of his state of shock, he moved too slow to catch up with her. That kiss had his senses running wild, his every being had come alive at the sensation. He had always heard about the effect that one's mate had on the other, but he never knew it would be this strong. He was in a daze, and if it was for the familiar scents of his home, he would have lost it. Christian walked to her door and gentle knock, ''Jessie, are you ok, what did I do?'' All he heard was sobbings from inside, but because she locked the door, it made it impossible to go comfort her. Of course, Christian could easily break the door down, but he did
Jessie closed her eyes and prayed before eating, something that was beaten into her from a young age. Peter, her father, had always said that they should be grateful for the meal that was provided, because he didn't have to feed her or her siblings or know when God will provide for another. Which was right, he had all the food to himself, and preferred to feed his wife and his namesake. All he gave Jessie and his two other daughters were what's left, the scrapes, which wasn't much. A slice of stale bread to share for them, a chicken breast or one baked potato. And that's it. They were expected to never complain or ask for more. It was after getting a full scholarship to uni did Jessie know a belly full; When she opened her eyes, Christian was staring at her with a confused look. A small smile spread across his face as he nodded to himself. Confused, she asked. "What is it?" But got no response from him. "Tell me about yo
Jessie and Christian sat together talking for a while in the kitchen until Jessie's eyes start closing down and her head was nodding, while listening to Christian's soothing voice. "Time for bed." Christian took Jessie by the hand, then unexpectedly lift her up and brought her up to her room. She reclined her head on his chest, listening to the fast speed of his heartbeat; it was as if his chest was filled with hummingbird wings instead of a heart. Completely different from that of a vampire or human. Jessie knew for a fact that she will be in for a wild ride. She closed her eyes in thought. 'Am I ready? Maybe not, but for Christian, I'll try my best.' Christian leered down at his bride, noticing how perfectly she fit in his arms. "Damn it.'' He sighed out. Jessie opened her eyes to stare up at him, noting the deep frown between his brows. "You can put me down if I'm too heavy.'' Jessie sa
Christian woke up for the second time in the middle of the night, this time feeling strange. There was a great pressure on his chest, which made him feel hot. Remembering that he was in bed with Jessie, and it must have been her. He opened his eyes to see half of her body on his chest and her hair in a tangled mess around both of them. Christian had always thought that sleeping with his mate would be peaceful, and she would be curled into his side. But not Jessie. She even snored, drooled a bit, talked in her sleep andshe was the source of heat, almost making Christian sweaty. Instead of waking her, he allowed her to sleep and mumbled away. Wondering what she was dreaming about now, as her brows frowned while she hissed a little. "You are mine, my vampire turned human, my woman, my wife, my mate.'' Christian brushed a finger against her cheek; she stirred and her big grey eyes opened to stare at Christian, as if seeing him
"Jessie, I am sorry ok, I didn't mean to make you upset, but things with me and my ex didn't exactly end. They forced us to be apart after being told who my mate was. I knew little about you, just that you were once a vampire. Which I'm not too fond of, especially those from Kilfrost.'' "Not all vampires are bad, just as how not all wolves are good.'' "Je meeprise ces sangsues" Christian spat. Just when Jessie thought he was done, he continued speaking in French. "Ces sangsues cause trop de souffrance.'' Jessie waited until he calmed down before she resumed the conversation. ''What kind of suffering have they caused? The last time I checked, they are good people.'' Looking at her in shock, Christian cocked his head to the side. "I know French.'' "Oh, I honestly didn't think that you would.'' "You think I'm stupid?'' ''Kilfrost is the vilest of all the vampire Hordes. Other
After jogging for so long, getting sweat in her eyes and becoming out of breath, Jessie stopped to walk around and admire the flowers in the garden. Even though her eyes watered from her allergies, she still tried to sniff them. Never have she seen such vibrant flowers before, some of which she did not recognise. Jessie ran a hand along every one of them. She loved flowers even though the feeling was not mutual; All because they put her in a sneezing fit. Jessie plucked one up before deciding to explore the expansive yard. Jessie walked around until she found herself at a large silver fence; only to remember what Christian said about it being electric. Wanting to know if it was true, she gathered a hand full of dirt then threw it at the fence. Sparks went up, causing her to back away, not wanting to get fried by that thing. Just one touch and that's it for her. Feeling as if she was being watched, Jessie turned around to see a lit
Martha and Jessie sat on her sofa laughing and eating cake, as she told Jessie stories about the funniest things her grandchildren do. Jessie doesn't know how she can manage with them all. She had three children and sixteen grandchildren. All of which she takes care of daily, occurring to Martha. No one lifts a finger in her household unless it is her. "You are one great grandmother, I know they must love you.'' Their conversation took a sudden turn, with Martha mentioning Keera. "I'm just glad that the Alpha found his true mate, vampire or not. I can't stand that Keera, she is so self-absorbed and selfish. Good gods, not to mention how spoilt she is." Not being the one to gossip much, Jessie still couldn't resist asking, "Can you tell me all I need to know about this, Keera? There is something about her.'' Martha frowned at first, then gave a smile, "as much as I would love to tell you about that girl, our conversa
