Chapter 9: Complications

*Onyx POV*

Tilly swallows roughly before wiping the shock off her face and snapping her jaw shut. She gives me a tight smile and a soft chuckle.

“I’m just frustrated with my lack of progress…” she lies and it just fuels my rage.

The second I saw her dirt laden clothes, I knew something was off. Never mind the best warrior that is locked up in her dorm pacing a new trail into the tile flooring, I can deal with Anna later. But Tilly?

I had to see her, had to know she was ok after what went down. I needed to know that she hadn’t run off and left. It’s not been nearly a week of training and I can’t stand being away from her. Who knows what shit she will say or the scenario she will land herself in? And the way she is looking right now, it’s obvious I was right to worry. Tilly is a downright beautiful mess.

“It’s obvious you are still blind if you think that tears on your cheek are the only thing off with your appearance.”

“I- uh-” she stutters and searches for Harriet, a look of pleading
