Drunk At Dinner

Olivia's POV

“She can never be our step-sister. We will never accept her!” Lucas complained and a feeling of sadness hit me. I somehow felt disappointed.

Luca chimes in, “You don't mean to imply this is our Luna, right? Why would you go ahead and marry low lives and bring them to the palace?”

“What do you mean?” the King suddenly asked, and I sensed his anger around the hall. His sons were starting to piss him off.

“I mean, we don't want them!” Luca snapped, and a growl came out from his father.

“You mean, you're telling me what to do right now?!” Alpha Herod sneered, but Luca snorted away, not feeling any remorse. Well, I don't blame him. I did the same too. Not like I was also glad to be in their midst.

Lucas spoke up again. “We aren't trying to dictate to you, Father, we just wanted to let you see reasons why a lowborn can't be our Luna. She can't be the one replacing our mother.”

Now his words were harsh, and they affected his father deeply that he sprang up from the throne, gnashing his teeth, his wolf howl filling the entire hall, ready to pop out anytime. However, my mother, whom he had chosen, held him back, stopping him from taking any more steps. I watched him give her a deadly glance while she smiled at him, giving him signs to be calm. I guess that worked because he glared at his sons before he settled back in his seat. I felt relieved. The King seemed nicer than what I've been hearing, but his sons were stepping on his toes.

I shifted my gaze to my mother, who let out a sigh, sitting up in her seat and ready to speak, while I hoped they wouldn't shun her out. “I'm sorry if you all feel bad about today. I'm sorry I am not the Luna you all want, but you need to know that I am here to be a mother to you all. I am here to love you just like the other Luna did, and I'm not saying you shouldn't hate me, you can. I understand that I'm not the former Luna, but I can say I am ready to be like her and_” her words were cut off by Luca.

“You can't be like her, okay? And we aren't ready to listen to your boring speech. It creeps us.”

“Luca!” Alpha Herod roared and silently took over the hall. I knew now that I was indeed in a den-like Henry had told me.

I suddenly felt my wolf reaching out to one of their wolves that kept calling out to mine, which I had tried to ignore. I raised my head and my gaze met with Lucien. We bore into each other's eyes for some seconds before he frowned and broke the contact immediately.

Yet, I got so thrilled with him and continued to look at him, losing focus until his eyes met mine again and this time he made a facial expression that snapped at me to look away. I felt so bad for myself. Why would I stare so hard at him? In embarrassment, I threw my face away.

“You all should start getting along with her as of today. Treat her with respect and take excellent care of her. Whereas, she would be attending the same school as you. So, be good to her,” the Lycan King uttered, and when I looked over to them once more, they were all staring at me with anger. Their wolf also didn't help to hide the rage in them.

“You can have your seat, Olivia,” Alpha Herod said, and I bowed my head in respect before moving up the throne to where my mother sat, taking my seat beside her.

It was already late at night when the maid announced that all the preparation for the mini party to welcome me and Mom to the pack house was ready, and the party kicked off immediately.

Two maids came to where we sat, and they began to lead us to the other side of the hall, where the dining was. While we walked through the crowd, I tried my best to smile at the people who kept muttering welcome to us, even though I wish I could wet my pillow with tears.

Soon, everyone was already settled on their seats around the ergonomic dining table surrounded by different kinds of foods, drinks, wines, and sorts. It was so beautiful that I couldn't help but admire everything.

“Serve the food,” Alpha Herod ordered as if he read my thoughts, and the serving began almost immediately. Just as intended, with the bonds, I could tell they were still angry, so I tried not to look across the table where they sat.

The feast started and everyone began to eat, some humming to the music being played while some laughed at funny things they were saying to each other.

Just then, Luca stood up and called the attention of everyone present. Within a few minutes, there was silence in the hall, everyone ready to listen to him. I couldn't help but also raise my head, only to find him staring at me as usual.

He made a sinister smile and moved away from his seat, crossing to the other side where I sat. He uttered. “Permit me, father, I will love to welcome my stepsister in a good manner.” His words sounded suspiciously, and I knew I needed to act smart. He faced me, “Stepsister, have a toast with me,” he said.

What do you expect? I wasn't a drinker, but I had to show some respect to him. I picked up my cup of mine and clicked with his before drinking all the content in my cup. There was applause around the hall as I drank.

To my amazement, both Lucas and Lucien stood up. “We also would love to make a toast,” they said, and came to where I was. One after the other, we toasted as the maids kept pouring in more wine for me.

However, the happiness in the hall died out the instant I felt tipsy. I had forgotten I was a bad drinker. When I mean bad, trust me, I misbehave. I sprang up from my seat and made a loud cry, stunning everyone in the hall.

“What's wrong with her?” I heard from them, and it brought out another cry from me. I was no more in my normal state.

“Sit down! How dare you disrespect everyone here?!” Luca snapped and faced Alpha Herod. “Is she the kind of daughter you want? She is misbehaving after only a few drinks,” he relayed, and cocky laughter came out from him, his brothers joining in. I felt so embarrassed, but I was no longer myself. I was drunk.

I took some steps and missed, almost tripping, but my Mom was able to grab me from falling. “Olivia, get back to yourself,” she whispered, but I shook my head and hit her hands away. With that, I staggered to where Luca stood.

“You must have gone mad to think I am interested in staying here. Do you think I want to be here? Do you think I love this nonsense scenery? Oh, fuck it! I hate it so bad here, and I hate you guys most, especially!” I sneered at him, and his facial expression gave me joy. I wasn't as easy as they thought I was.
