Moving To The Palace

Olivia's Pov

"We're leaving for the palace," the familiar voice rang through my head as I struggled to get out of my dreamland. "Good morning, sweetheart," my mother added.

As usual, I should have responded to her greetings but her first statement didn't give room for it. I shifted on my bed, yarning off the night and forcing my eyes open. "What did you just say now, mother?" I inquired from her, my gaze not leaving hers but I  could see her smiling sheepishly at me which was rare. Mom never had good looks on her whenever she came to wake me up.

"Yes, darling. Good news from me to you…" she uttered and paused to flash a smile at me. "I'm now the new queen of the Lycan king," she disclosed, spinning around gently while my eyes shone out in shock at what she just said.

"You're what?!" I cringed and sprang up instantly from the bed, rubbing off sleep from my eyes. "What do you mean?"

My mom made a wave with her hands, rolling her eyes too, she said, "You don't have to panic dear. I'm married to the king now and you're going there with me. You_"

"You must be kidding!" I snapped, shutting her off her words. Was my mom playing games with me? Where was the news coming from? Or was I still dreaming?

My eyes scrutinized my room, blinking them so blind to see if I was awake or not. Of course, I was fully awake but why was I hearing that from her?

Mom never told me she was getting married for real. I've never seen my mom with the King or anyone so what the hell was she telling me?

I shook my head and raised them to look at her. "You're married to King Herod? Just like that?" I asked because that was where my thoughts could only travel too. If Mom was getting married to the King then what about me?

Mom let out a heavy sigh, "You know, Olivia. Your dad has left us for a long time and you know how difficult it is for us. When the King told me he was interested in me, I couldn't reject his offer. Every other lady is going to get this chance and I am not a different one," she revealed again, leaving me in total shock. Like, when did all these happen and where have I been? I knew nothing about it.

"Mom!" I let out in confusion. "What are you just telling me? I don't even know when your wedding took place. Why on earth will all these be happening and I am a novice to it, why?" I confronted her. "What about me?"

"You need to understand now darling that I have tried a lot to keep up with you. I have and you know it. You will be coming with me, that's all you need to know."

No, no, no! Mom shouldn't be saying things like these. Why would I leave the place I enjoyed the most and go with her? For heavens' sake! If she does want to be with the King, I don't want to! How would I bear leaving a place I have come to love all my life?

"You can't be doing this mother. You can't tell me to leave with you, you can't. This is fucking so annoying! How do I cope?! Why will you get married to the king?!" I continued to ask those questions bitterly since what else could I do?

I watched my Mom take some steps to where I sat gazing largely at her. Then she whispered gently enough for me to hear. "You have to listen to me now, Olivia. Plus I'm doing all these for you. You have a long way to go and you have to live a good life. This is what your dad can't give to you. Me choosing this path is for our best," she explained her reasons which I didn't take as a sole cause why would she say she was doing them all because of me? It was absurd.

My eyes shut closed for some moment and I opened them up again to say my words. "This is unbelievable, Mother. You can't do this to me. Not even on my birthday!" I had just remembered it was my eighteenth birthday. Wow and gross. I was getting the most hateful gift of my life.

I knew it. I knew it wasn't going to be that nice for me like others. I had always wished I got a good present on my eighteenth birthday just like my friends who got different things like cars, bags, shoes, clothes, wishes, and a lot more but here I was sitting and listening to heartbreaking news.

"You're taking me out of my world to another different world entirely. You're not being nice, mother. What do I say to my friends? How do I cope with the royals? How…" I paused and choked on my tears fighting to come out. "How do I find my mate among them?"

I threw all the questions at her and all she did was maintain her sinister smile. "You will be good dear. You will surely find your mate and you will love to be at the royalty abode."

"Don't tell me I'll be fine. I can never be!" I growled, my wolf starting to react to my feelings.

"That's none of my business, Olivia! You get to handle it yourself!" My mom returned the growl and I felt anger boiling in her. "You need to prepare now and let's get going! The guard will be here soon and I don't want any more complaints. We're leaving and that's final!" she stated after a sigh. "Tell your friends you're leaving in case."

I was dumbfounded. Mom was truly serious with her words. We're truly leaving for the pack house. I watched my mother turn to leave but suddenly stopped, looked over her shoulder, and said, “Oh, and do not bring anything with you. The King has provided all you need.” With that being said, she walked out. I couldn't help but break down in tears.

|Later that night|

I was still arranging my bags when I heard a knock on my door. I sniffled the air and I got Mom's scent and other strange ones. I knew instantly they were the pack guards. "I'll be right there," I told Mom and my eyes caught something. It was a locket my father gave me.

It was one of my precious gifts so immediately, I threw it into my small handbag since my mother said I shouldn't worry about taking anything. Giving my room one more glance, I walked out.

The drive to the pack house wasn't that long but I spent most of the journey thinking about how my life would turn out to be. However, everything went off the moment the car came to an abrupt end and I came out embracing the enchanted building of the pack house.

Just when I was still thinking about how elegant the place was since I've not been there before, a maid came to me. "Mind if I show you around?" she requested and I had no choice but to nod my head.

She showed me around and I spent time asking her different questions which she had answers to. I was liking the environment already but each time I got to remember my place and friends, I felt bitter.

The maid finally left me in the garden and explained how I would get back into the pack house just in case I got lost. I thanked her a lot and was glad she left.

I was still watching some scenery in the garden when suddenly I heard voices scream out, "Mate!" It was unusual so I spun around to see those who had screamed and suddenly I also let out a gasp, "My stepbrothers?!"
