(Mia's POV)
“Mia, we are having some guests visiting us today,” my mother, Lucy Anderson, said as I returned from White Hills Academy and entered the kitchen to meet her. “Mom, who are the guests?” I asked, gazing at her face. Ever since I moved back here to live with my mother in the White Hills area and gained admission into the academy—a college for grown‑up students where she teaches—I still could not feel comfortable. I am Mia Anderson, a seventeen‑year‑old girl. I used to live in London with my father, Rafael Anderson, before Mom requested that I return home and apply for admission to White Hills Academy. The academy grounds were sparsely populated, and I had heard wolves howling at night. It sent chills down my spine to know wolves lived around us. So, I was not truly comfortable here. “Mia, I know you are trying hard to get used to this place. But I promise you, you will love it,” Mom said softly, walking up to me in the kitchen and holding my hand in hers. “There’s nothing for me to like around here. First, we have the woods, the forest, and wild animals like wolves living around us. Aren’t you scared that one of these wolves might jump on you one day and bite you to pieces? I feel so scared at night that I cannot sleep—and yet, there are people living around us too,” I complained, my voice nervous. I wore a short blue denim skirt, a long red sweater, and white canvas shoes. I am of average height, and so is my mother. “Mia,” Mom said, her lips curling into a smile as she let go of my hand and walked around the kitchen to check the delicious meals she had prepared for her guests. “I understand you are not happy coming back here. If it weren’t for your father traveling from place to place, you wouldn’t have grown up so far away,” Mom said, her voice tinged with sadness, while she checked the pot of rice and chicken she was setting up for dinner. “Mom, I understand you love this place—the forest, the waterfall, the green plants surrounding us. But I do not like it. I want to apply for a transfer to return to London. Please, I know you and Dad are planning to divorce, but he hasn't moved on with his life. This place doesn’t suit me, please,” I said, stomping my foot on the kitchen floor. My mother smiled and covered the pot of jollof rice she had finished cooking. “Look, Mia. There’s something I need to tell you about yourself before your eighteenth birthday,” Mom said, walking up to meet me. She wore a white dress that barely covered her thighs. My mother could pass for my elder sister—she is light‑skinned and only thirty‑six. “What is it, Mom?” I asked, watching her face curiously. She took a deep breath and said, “You are not really human, Mia.” “What?” My eyes widened in shock. “Mom, if this is a joke, please stop. What is that supposed to mean?” I asked, feeling my heart about to explode from the revelation. She smiled and held my hands. “Look at me, Mia. You are a werewolf—a Beta wolf, not just a human,” Mom said, her blue eyes glowing brightly. I staggered backward. “Mom, please. Tell me you’re joking. I don’t understand what you’re saying. How do you make your eyes glow like that? What is a werewolf? Do they even exist? You seem to read so many fantasy books that you’re starting to believe werewolves are real—that they live among us, let alone that I am one too. Please, Mom. I’m not in the mood for jokes. Just let me apply to go back to London. I’ll call you, we can video chat every day,” I said, knowing my mother found it hard to let me go. “Listen to me, Mia. Your father isn’t human either. He was a werewolf, like me. But he’s a researcher—that’s why he traveled from place to place for his work, and he ended up taking you to London. He refused to let me tell you about your life here. But he knew the risk if you didn’t return to the pack. You could shift one day, and the animal protectors in London might take you and lock you up in a zoo for scaring people,” Mom said, laughing. My jaw dropped at her words. “Mom, you’re scaring me. What do you mean I’m not human? How is that even possible?” I asked. She smiled sadly. Before my mother could say another word, the doorbell rang, and she smiled. “Our guests have arrived. Don’t worry, Mia. I’ll tell you everything tonight. Your eighteenth birthday is just one month away, and you need to prepare to meet your mate and experience your first shift as a wolf.” “What? Mom…” I watched her run to the kitchen door to open it. “Come on, Mia, my guests are here. Let’s go welcome them.” My mother dragged me out of the kitchen to accompany her to the living room. You wouldn’t believe that my mother lived in this big duplex alone before I returned. After all, she is the chairwoman at White Hills Academy. I didn’t want to study there, but Mom insisted—and she refused to let me stay in the academy hostel. So I stayed at home with her and followed her to school. I was studying banking because I wanted to work in a bank in London, but now I had to live in a pack full of wolves. Anxiety crept up my spine as my mother and I went to the living room door to welcome her guests. My mother has servants who work for her and clean the house. She is a rich woman, and I was still surprised she was single. Why hadn’t she remarried? She has a slim figure and nice curves. Ugh. I grimaced as I looked at the door my mother opened. To my shock, the three bad boys from White Hills Academy—Luis, Liam, and Leon Oscar—entered the living room. They were triplets, wearing identical white tank tops that revealed their masculine abs, black jeans that hugged their long legs, and black boots. “What? Mom! What are these three rascals doing here in our house?” I screamed, glaring at the three bad boys from White Hills Academy.Mia's POV:"What's wrong with you, Mia? You gave me a scare right now. Not only me, but the Triple L too, with the way you ran away from the dining table," Mom said, her tone laced with disappointment as I walked out of the bathroom and headed to the bed in my room to sit down.I was still overwhelmed. How did I admit the truth to all of them?Mom left me and went into my closet, and she came out with the gift box that Grandma Khloe had asked me to go and wear."Tell me, Mia. What stops you from wearing this to find your real mate? It's not too late to still wear it," Mom said, as she pulled the box open to reveal the pink diamond necklace nestled within."I do not want to wear it, Mom," I said, and she peered at me with disappointment."Why? Why don't you want to wear it? It will help you find your mate. Go on," she encouraged me to take it out and put it on around my neck, but I refused."I don't need this to find my mate. I have already found my mate," I said, and my mother gasped
Mia's POV:Standing up from the dining table, I turned to face Grandma Khloe."I don't want to wear it," I said, and the room fell silent."Why? Don't you want to find your mate? Have you found him and don't want to tell us?" She asked, her voice filled with concern for me, but I felt bad that I was lying to my grandmother."It's complicated, Grandmother. I want to finish my studies first before I find my mate. I don't want to get distracted," I said, my tone soft as my eyes darted to peer at Leon and his brothers. Their eyes were fixated on me too."Mia," Grandma Khloe spoke softly, her anger calming down as she said, "I know that you are anxious about finding your mate, but I promise you, you can also grow together. You don't have to keep your mate in the dark. He will love you, please, go and bring it and wear it. It's for the best," Grandma insisted, and Alpha David called to my attention."Mia, do you have the necklace in your possession? Although I am not in support of witchcraf
**Mia's POV**The next day, I was startled awake by the loud noise that cheered, "Happy Birthday, Mia!" The voices squealed in my room, and my eyes fluttered open to see everyone in my room. They wore white pajamas, and I thought it was a dream.Alpha David stepped forward with a bottle of wine in his hand and said, "Cheers to the good life, Mia. I wish you happiness as you join adulthood.""Thank you, Alpha," I squealed as I watched Alpha David pour a drink and take a shot.Mom happily walked up next to my bed and said, "Happy birthday to you, my baby girl. I am happy to see the young, beautiful woman that you have grown up to become, and I wish you eternal happiness.""Thanks, Mom," I replied as my mother stepped back because she couldn't drink due to her pregnancy. I watched Alpha Liam step forward next."Happy birthday, little sister. I wish you a lovely birthday ahead," Luis said, his deep voice making me smile on the bed, and I replied, "Thank you."Liam came forward next, his f
**Mia's POV**Striding downstairs, I caught sight of the family seated around the dining table. The delicious smell of food hung in the air, and I gulped hard as my throat began to salivate. What surprised me the most was seeing Veronica seated next to Leon at the table, with Luis and Liam next to her. They had saved a seat for me at the head, opposite my mother.I tried to ignore them as I walked towards the table and greeted Alpha David. He was wearing a yellow shirt and black trousers, and seemed like he had just returned before being invited to have dinner with us."Good evening, Dad," I greeted Alpha David with a smile as I settled across from my mother."Thank you, Mia. How was your day at the Academy, and with getting ready for your birthday party tomorrow? Have you found your mate?" Alpha David asked softly, and I tried so hard not to look at the Triple L.I could feel their gaze crawling over my skin, so I gulped hard and replied, "I am still searching for my mate." I thought
Leon's POV:Walking out of Mia's room with Veronica, I knew that the sight of my brothers with Veronica would affect Mia a lot, but if we didn't do this, she would be unconcerned of how her actions were affecting us too."Thank you, Alpha Leon. I hadn't expected to share your room with you," Veronica said, giggling but I made it clear to her. "We are friends, Veronica. So it's nothing bad if you share a room with me. You're like my sister and I want to see you become better."Veronica nodded and asked, "How about you take me as your girlfriend, Leon? Please… I want you and I am not a kid anymore.""No, not now. Let's focus on helping you improve with your grades, okay. And I will take care of you. When you pass the exam, then we can take our relationship to the next level," I said, not wanting her to think that I am using her to get back at Mia."Really? Aww. Then I will study hard," she said, her lips curling up with a smile while I showed her to the closet to keep her bag."Leon, ho
Mia's POV:I wasn't happy with the way Alpha Leon cut my mother off. Even though he was the Alpha after his dad, he had no right to speak to my mother like that."Alpha Leon, I don't care if you want Veronica to share your room too, but don't speak so lowly of my mother," I challenged him and he smirked."I am not, I respect your mother, but you have to respect my decision too. Come on, babe," he rose from the couch and lifted Veronica in his arms.Couldn't she walk with her legs? Why must he carry her like she was his girlfriend?Veronica purred and hugged Leon, resting her head against his chest. The doorbell rang as I stood watching them walk past me.I tried to act like I was not affected by the sight of it all, but I was.As the door swung open, Godwin stepped in with a black box and handed it over to Luis, before he turned to face my mother."Good evening, Aunt.""Yeah, welcome Godwin," my mother replied with a forced smile, while Godwin didn't even spare me a glance at all. He
Veronica's POV:Seeing Alpha Leon dismiss my older brother made me scowl, but I held his hand and followed him into the jewelry store.I knew that I didn't have the card to shop for the type of expensive jewelry that Mia had bought for her mother, and that made me sad.My father had refused to give
Mia's POV:As Mr. Andrew arrived at my father's house, I sat quietly, watching as the security man carefully pulled the gate open. After that, he drove the black car into the residence and parked it.As he unlocked the car door for me respectfully, I got out and strode into the house. The living ro
Mia's POV;As I answered Vivian's call, I heard her inquiry, "Mia, can we use my car so that we can hang out at some place?""Mmm," I scowled and said, "Alright. I will let my Mom know. I already have Mr. Andrew ready.""Come on, it's going to be cool, just you and me," Vivian begged in her gentle,
Mia's POV;"Mia, is everything alright?" my father asked me once more when I didn't give him a response."Yes, Dad. I am at home with Mom. We are fine, and you do not have to worry about anything," I replied, my voice full of anxiety."Alright. Do send my greetings to your mother. I know that you d
