Darien's Pov

Once we were back in my chambers, the silence was thicker than molasses. Claire was quiet, her gaze glued to the floor like she was trying to avoid eye contact.

The weight of what went down in the woods was pressing down on me like a black cloud. The secret we were carrying was heavy, man.

I cleared my throat, trying to keep my voice cool. "You alright?" I asked. Claire only stared at me blankly her expression filled with questions.

Anyone could see how troubled she was and I don't blame her for feeling at way. And besides with what just happened right in front of her anyone will feel that way.
