"Uhm– Avira," I called, looking at her. For a moment, I saw her freeze but she did not look away from Dylan. When she looked away eventually, it was with a deliberate sluggishness, as if it was an exercise she would rather not do."I'm sorry for what happened earlier, it–" I apologized or tried to, but Avira's calm voice sharply cut me off."I already told you, Declan. You do not owe me any explanation or an apology. You did what you did. In fact[Avira]"Alpha Dylan and Alpha Declan asked that we keep you safe." Mira said in that fearful voice of hers. I narrowed my eyes in confusion."We?" I asked."There are warriors outside your door," Mira explained while I nodded, and at the same time I wondered why Dylan and Declan would send in warriors for my protection."Is everything alright?" I tried to sound unbothered but my voice had come out low and shaky. Mira hesitated for a while before she spoke up."The pack is believed to be under an attack ." Mira paused, and I swallowed hard.Attack? "Alphas Dylan and Declan have gone to drive the attackers back, and they asked that you be kept safe while they are at it." Mira explained. I bit hard hard at my lips to stop them from quivering but it was useless. This also meant our marriage cannot be consummated tonight, and that should make me feel relieved but I didn't. In fact, I didn't realize how
[Avira]The loud clapping and shouting went on for a long time, forcing me to pay attention to the crowd. When the shouting eventually died down, Shammar motioned for me to resume kneeling down, and I did. I didn't realize until now that I had leapt up from the knee stand at the sound of the thunder minutes ago."Avira Holbrook Thiago,Do you promise to uphold the laws of TwinMoon Pack to the best of your ability?" Shammar asked, reading from the same scroll he read from earlier."I do," I said even though I have no intention of upholding laws that are barbaric, but I didn't have to say that here, or now."Do you promise to lead TwinMoon Pack with justice and fairness in your capacity as Luna?" He asked again, still reading from the scroll."I do," I replied. Justice and fairness will not prevent me from taking my revenge on anyone who has ever hurt me. And of course, the entire pack didn't have to know about it either.
[Avira]I walked down the aisle of the throne room, completely blown away by the decorations and lights in the hall. Light coloured balloons and ribbons hanging loosely at almost every surface gave the room an entirely different look. I felt like I would easily touch the lights which hung low from the ceiling if I reached out for them, or stretched a little even though that was not possible.I was wearing the pink wedding dress Dylan bought me, and clutching at the bouquet of flowers. Both Dylan and Declan had handpicked the flowers from the royal garden, and arranged them into the pattern they wanted. The tulle fabric which served as a veil was pulled down but I could easily see through it. The sapphire necklace, and the shoes I had on were from Declan. Dylan and Declan, dressed identically, were standing in front of the crowd who had stood up to welcome me while I walked majestically like the Lunar bride I was. From behind the ve
[Avira]I contemplated between going with Dylan to the front of the room where his father was and to remain where I was currently seated for a while after Dylan left.Opting for none of the options, I left for my bedroom, allowing the wave of relief to wash over me. The whole turn of events, although not planned, had worked in my favour. All thanks to Declan who, as it seemed, was on our side the whole time.I stepped into the room after pushing the door open, and quickly bit down the scream that threatened to go out from my mouth."You gave me a fright, Mira." I said, pressing a hand to my chest."I'm sorry," Mira replied. She was beaming, but I was cautious not to get my hopes up."You got it?" I asked, my breath hitched."Yes!" Mira exclaimed, and brought out the red sash with a lot of inscriptions and symbols, all of which were strange.Mira stretched the sash to me, and I took it after hesitating
[Dylan]With a silent satisfaction, I watched Thorne address the crowd. He was going to point out Nanisca as his killer, and have her banished or stoned to death, as the laws of TwinMoon pack demanded."I was attacked," Thorne started, and I frowned slightly. We all knew that already. What we itched to hear was by who. Nanisca was horrified now, she looked like she would run out of the room any moment, or better still, disappear. But none of that was going to happen. Her time was up now. She would either be stoned to death or banished from TwinMoon pack in a few minutes."I can't tell who it was because the person was fully masked." He added, and I shook my head in disbelief. This wasn't what Declan and I agreed two days ago. Why was Thorne saying something else now, and worse still, why was Declan doing nothing about it?"It wasn't Avira who attacked me, and tried to kill me," he said and at the same time, he fixed his eyes on Nanisca,
[Declan]"He will have you killed once we told him that."Dylan had told Avira but he had also reminded me of Thorne who at this point was our only way. But the last time I checked, he was still unconscious, and that was some few days ago."Excuse me," I said, and stormed out of the room, and headed for Gamma's quarters where Thorne was secretly receiving treatment. I met him in front of his house, about to go out."Alpha Declan," he called when he saw me. His expression was unusually cheerful, I noted but didn't dare hope for anything so as not to be disappointed."Are you going out?" I asked instead, I was suddenly not sure how to ask after Thorne. "I was, but since you're already here, there's no need anymore." Gamma replied, and even though I didn't understand what he meant, I didn't say anything."The young man had just regained consciousness. I was coming to tell you, but it seems like you know already." Gamma informed me,
[Declan]In my anger, I headed for my bedroom but stopped by the door of the guest room where Avira was staying. A sudden thought had just occurred to me to lock up the room, and without stopping to rethink, I twisted the key on the door, pulled it out, and then I left for my room qwith the key. P
[Declan]I dragged myself down the hallway, and back into my bedroom a few minutes after Dylan left with Avira. Even before I tried to get some sleep, I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Not when my heart was this heavy, with beautiful images of Avira displayed all over my head, filling me
[Avira]I slowly got down on the floor, mustering every ounce of self control I had to not cry out in pain. Every part of my body was covered in sores, all thanks to Declan's merciless whips, and Nanisca who had lied against me. He had asked me to go after whipping me to his satisfaction, and I kne
[Avira]I stepped out of the room after her, and was shocked to see that it was already dark outside. I had spent the whole day in the damn room, sorting the damn keys and locks. We met Nanisca in the kitchen, stirring the large pot on the fire, with her nose raised like a pig. She left hurriedly f
