Declan's bedroom door was ajar when I got to it, which was an indication that he was back from Dominus pack where he had gone to look for me. That gesture should warm my heart but it didn't. Because once I peeled my eyes away from his door, my eyes went straight to my door, and I was instantly reminded of Avira.Although she was visibly shaken up when I stepped into the room and met her struggling against Thorne, although she didn't recognize me when she first saw me[Avira]The day of the wedding between Nanisca and Alpha Magnus, and also her coronation as Luna came quicker than I wanted it to.There was nothing in place to stop the wedding from happening, no plan, nothing at all. Alpha Magnus' door had remained shut to his sons so that they had not been able to make any contact with him since he made the announcement.Declan's "plan" turned out to be nothing but a dead end, even though he did not mention any of it to me, or to Dylan.I dragged myself from the queen-sized bed, and reluctantly went to the bathroom to clean up. For reasons I couldn't tell, I did not want to miss the ceremony, even though I knew how humiliating it would be.I checked my wardrobe for a dress that was just appropriate for the occasion. I didn't want to be overdressed since it was not about me. Or underdressed since it was a special occasion, regardless of the fact that it was about Nanisca.I selected a peach coloured dress which was well covered, and a silver necklac
[Nanisca]The news travelled fast but I was doubtful at first. Surely, Avira wasn't stupid enough to humiliate the one person who is most loyal to her by firing her in the manner she did.But she had.The girls were talking about it. Every gathering of two or more had Avira and Mira featuring in their discussion.I was back in the kitchen, but not as the head servant. I was their Luna now, and I had come to address them as such."Where the hell is Joan?" I demanded with a high pitched voice. She wasn't stupid enough to think that I would let her slip pass.A terrified figure made her way towards me, and stood with her head bowed when she got to me."On your knees," I screamed, and she flinched, and some of the others too."Your stupid tears were a confirmation that I tried to poison the then Luna. For that, you earned yourself a total of one hundred and six–" I stopped talking at the sound of loud sobbing, and instead turned towards the adjoining room where it sounded from.Without wa
[Avira]I saw Nanisca cut through the crowd just as Alpha Magnus was being wheeled away, and I knew she was coming to me, and to gloat. Alpha Magnus had stated his intention to take Nanisca as his mate, and even though I did not act like it, I was thrown off guard. Why Nanisca?Anyone else would have been great. Anyone but her. I could already see her making my life as hellish as she can."Hello Luna," she called in mock devotion when she got to me. Declan had leaned closer to me, and Dylan too, which was a relief. It was strange that neither of them had done anything to stop their father, or tried to talk him out of his sudden madness.I smiled back at her, concealing my dissatisfaction and disappointment behind the smile. Even though I feared for my well-being, I must not let Nanisca know it or suspect it for a second.I fired back at her in the most polite manner I could, and left the room as elegantly as the pain in my heart
[Declan]"Uhm– Avira," I called, looking at her. For a moment, I saw her freeze but she did not look away from Dylan. When she looked away eventually, it was with a deliberate sluggishness, as if it was an exercise she would rather not do."I'm sorry for what happened earlier, it–" I apologized or tried to, but Avira's calm voice sharply cut me off. "I already told you, Declan. You do not owe me any explanation or an apology. You did what you did. In fact I should apologize for barging in on you and your lover." She replied instead. Her tone was calm, too calm for a she-wolf who had caught her mate in bed with another woman. For Avira's case, she is a Luna while the other woman is a slave which is worse. But she did nothing, and said as much. An indication that the mate bond which we share means nothing to her.She continued walking down the hall, towards the door that led to the throne room while I followed from behind her wi
[Declan]Avira's words caused a seizure in my heart, but before I could say anything, she pushed the door closed with a bang. I remained on the spot for a while, not sure whether to keep going, or to resume asking her to forgive me.I opted for the former, recalling that she had sent me out herself. I didn't want to upset her more than she already was, so I dragged my heavy feet down the hallway, towards my bedroom. Avira's door pulled open when I reached for my door, and Mira stepped out, holding the steamy cup she had brought in only a few minutes ago. Avira had probably asked her out of her bedroom too, probably to have some time alone.I got inside my bedroom, and laid heavily on my bed, but I was unable to curtail the restlessness I felt. The image of Avira walking into Nanisca and I replayed in my head, and caused me to shudder in embarrassment and disgust. There was no need to pretend that I did not hate myself right now. To
[Avira]Mira reported late to duty this morning, and because it was her first, I was willing to let it slide. But she did not only come late, she was also limping on both legs."Are you alright?" I asked, after a close look at her legs. I had just put away the now empty plates of my late breakfast, and was in for a chitchat with my favourite personal servant. The others were busy with the chores I assigned them, leaving Mira to keep me company. She nodded quickly, too quickly, and I knew that something was wrong."What happened to your legs?" I asked, but she hesitated, and I saw the fear in her eyes."It was a minor accident, Luna." Mira replied but I was not about to buy that story. She was lying, and I could tell."You call me your Luna, and you lie to my face." I said simply. She looked at me, like she would rather not say what was wrong with her, but she told me anyway. It's Nanisca." She finally told me in a whisper, and I felt my chest welling up in anger. An assault to my pers
[Declan]In my anger, I headed for my bedroom but stopped by the door of the guest room where Avira was staying. A sudden thought had just occurred to me to lock up the room, and without stopping to rethink, I twisted the key on the door, pulled it out, and then I left for my room qwith the key. P
[Declan]I dragged myself down the hallway, and back into my bedroom a few minutes after Dylan left with Avira. Even before I tried to get some sleep, I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Not when my heart was this heavy, with beautiful images of Avira displayed all over my head, filling me
[Avira]I slowly got down on the floor, mustering every ounce of self control I had to not cry out in pain. Every part of my body was covered in sores, all thanks to Declan's merciless whips, and Nanisca who had lied against me. He had asked me to go after whipping me to his satisfaction, and I kne
[Avira]I stepped out of the room after her, and was shocked to see that it was already dark outside. I had spent the whole day in the damn room, sorting the damn keys and locks. We met Nanisca in the kitchen, stirring the large pot on the fire, with her nose raised like a pig. She left hurriedly f
