Chapter Thirty

The Enemy

Never have my people ever known me for my patience. It’s not like centuries ago when our kind was ruthless in getting the job done. Now in this day and age, everything is far more strategic. You have to be a forward thinker, with technology and so many humans knowing about our kind it’s too risky to start a war of any kind.

The snowy mountainside is beautiful this time of year. The snow is falling heavily, making visibility even poor for us Vampires.

Having the wolf child isn’t exactly starting a war but it is a start to what I want. I smile in anticipation for Mazelina Winslow. The moment she steps into my home I will send the child back to the pack and keep Mazelina for myself. I have her room ready for her, just how she likes it.

“Sir?” Anton announces himself as he enters my study.

“Yes?” I enquire without turning around.

“Geri has arrived.”

“Good. Have they sent Mazelina to her rooms?”
