I also wanted to call Cade and tell him everything. Something inside of me knew I needed to not rely on Cade as much. I was almost 18 and needed to stand on my two feet.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“Probably should get some food in you.” Maddox didn’t move, and neither did I. It almost felt like something broke between us. There had been some distance placed between us that we gained today.

“You know that I believe with my whole heart we are mates.”

“I do.” I said, watching him. He was struggling with something internal that I felt like I was, too.

“You understand that it’s not my place to take you Friday? If Cade wants you to be there, you have to talk to him.”

“I know.”

Maddox finally stood up and walked in front of me before kneeling. “The Moon Goddess… we have to trust what the she puts in our lives. Still, I would never force you to mate with me. If that means I lose my wolf because my mate doesn’t want me… then that is what happens. I’ll never go against her.”
