Chapter Fifty Six: Ambushed

“Finally!” Jasmine exclaimed as she slumped back on her chair.

Tired was an understatement to how she felt at that moment as she had just gone through six consecutive meetings.

“You know, I also went through these meetings but you don’t hear me complaining,” Justin said.

Jasmine rolled her eyes at his words. “Well, all you had to do was sit there and watch everyone else do the work,” she retorted.

Justin was about to clap back when Jasmine’s stomach grumbled loudly. “Well, looks like someone is starving,” he teased.

“I didn’t have breakfast and you dragged me out of the diner room before I could eat anything so of course I’m starving.” Jasmine got up from her seat and started to pack the files.

“Let’s go before I die of starvation,” she said and without waiting for Justin’s response, she turned and walked out of the conference room.

A card fell out of one of the files as she left but she didn’t notice it. Justin however did. He got up and picked the card up.
