It was pretty late and I had just gotten out from my bathroom in my cozy apartment not too far from my university. I was angry at myself as my period came early this month. I didn't have sanitary pads at home and it sucked as my body was in a bad condition right now. It wasn't supposed to come until next week. Sometimes I wished men had to go through this instead of women.
I went to my living room and drew the curtains. It was pitch black outside and nothing much was seen. I glanced over at the time and it was 8:56pm. A worse time for my period to start. I contemplated whether to step out of my apartment building at this late hour. Lately there had been news of robbery in the neighborhood as of recent. I hadn't stepped out of my apartment this late before ever since I moved in here. But now I was in urgent need to get sanitary pads. The weather outside was kind of windy and showed signs of an upcoming rain.I called Adam and luckily he picked up in the second ring. “Hey babe. You called? Are you okay?” My Adam immediately asked concerned. I sighed out. “No am not fine Adam. Am...” I paused and wondered whether to tell him about my period. I've never hidden things from him but this sounded like only a girl's thing.“Ana?” Adam brought me out of my thoughts and I had to come out with it. “Am on my period Adam.” There I said it. Adam blinked and not surprised he didn't know what to say. “Hum... O..Kay?” He said unsure and I couldn't hold in my laugh. “Why are you laughing at me Ana. What did you want me to say?” He smiled over the phone and hid his face behind his palms.“And it came early and I don't have sanitary. I want to go to the nearby mart to get some but it's late right now. And am scared to go out.” I confessed. “Well am not an expert in this sort of issue but based on what we've been taught about...the....hum female body. It's essential right?” Adam said and scratched the back of his head with a little smile. He looked cute looking like that. “You're right about that genius. It's essential. So I was wondering if you could keep me company while I rush to the nearby mart?” I asked revealing the reason for my call to him so late at night in his time over in England. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and replied. “Of course Ana. If talking with me while rushing to the supermarket helps you calm down, then am fine with it.” My heart did a few beat skippings and I wondered where and how I was lucky enough to find such a sweet boyfriend. No doubt he was perfect and everyday I kept on falling more and more in love with him. His virtues and love always made my heart beat so fast and in a good way.“Thank you Adam.” I said with a wide smile and immediately rushed out of my apartment with the video call with Adam turned on. I walked on the pathway and was glad for the street lights that brightened the almost silent road. The wind blew and was surprisingly chilly as well. The walk to the nearest mart was only fifteen minutes and all the while I kept on talking with Adam with air pods in my ears. I got into the store and only a few shoppers were in the store to probably get last minute items just like me. The sound of the wind echoed outside and some of the people rushed outside towards their car inroder to escape from the coming rain.I also slided towards the pharmactical alley and saw lots of sanitary pads but I was interested in searching for my own brand I use. I couldn't find it anywhere and asked one of the supermarket staffs for assistance. “Excuse me. I don't see Ladies Care sanitary pads on the shelves?”“Oh. Am sorry. That brand was sold out this morning. We intend to get the next batch by tomorrow afternoon.” The kind lady replied with an apologetic smile. “Thank you.” I said. “You can have a go at other brands too miss?” The lady offered and I shooked my head with a smile. “No thank you. I've been using that brand since I started so....” I answered. “No problem miss. There's another supermarket down the road about a twenty minutes walk from here. Am sure they would have your brand.” The lady said and I thanked her before lowering my shoulders sighing heavily and walked out of the store.“So what are you going to do now Ana? You're going to that supermarket? I think it's pretty late. Why don't you try another brand?” Adam suggested over the phone. I loved how he cared and was worried for my safety despite being so far away. “But my body won't want those other brands trust me. It's a woman's thing.” I winked at him smiling and he chuckled. Even I was scared to have that twenty minute walk to the other supermarket but it was urgency.I decided to walk further. Afterall I was already out of my apartment and now here. A little walk wouldn't hurt. I increased my pace and walked towards the other store. The wind howled once more and I had to take some small runs. Less than twenty minutes, I was already in front of the other store. I quickly rushed in and by then I was already panting. “Great job babe.” Adam said to cheer me on, on my little adventure tonight. I smiled and rushed to get my sanitary. I sighed with relief when I found my brand. I grabbed a pack and headed straight to the counter to make my payment.I came out after I had made my payment and hoped to find a cab or a taxi but I was left feeling disappointed. I guess the only option now was to rush back home before the rain catches up to me. The skies were gloomy and lightning had swiped across the clouds twice now. This meant a sudden heavy downpour. My phone's battery was already low and I couldn't prolong my video call with Adam for much longer. This was never the plan. I never intended to be out for this long. The time was now 9:30pm. And soon my phone turned off suddenly due to my low battery. Adam's face disappeared from my screen and I felt gutted. The roads were growing to becoming empty by the minute. And not a single cab had passed by. I couldn't even order for an Uber online at this hour. Left with my only option, I shoved my phone into the pocket of my tight shorts and started to jog my way back to my apartment. I was now past the mart I first rushed into and was heading home when I was blocked suddenly by some group of guys all wearing hoodies. My eyes widened in shock and fear immediately gripped me. The guys were five in number and they slowly surrounded me. I felt my legs shaking and my lips quivered in absolute fear. My worst fear for stepping outside my apartment this late at night came true. I was afraid of running into dangerous criminals and now they were surrounding me from all sides. My eyes widened more in horror when I caught them holding guns and knifes. My body shuddered in deep fear as I clutched the bag which contained my sanitary against my chest. My heart was racing and my breathing went heavy. The guys snickered amongst themselves as they eyed me viciously. They were looking at my body while surrounding me. “P-please let me go.” I said timidly and my voice came more like a whisper. I felt my words stuck in my throat because of the amount of fear that had chained me down. Two of them chuckled and one of them reached out with a knife to trace my shirt. I gasped and moved away instantly while I gaped at the man. This particular man was the only guy with his hoodie torn from both the sleeves revealing a full trail of tattoos all over both his arms. He looked even scary from up close as his face shined under one of the street lights. He had piercings all over his face making him look so much hideous and I wondered inwardly how such hooligans and brutes manage to be in such a neighborhood like this.“Damn her skin's so soft amigos.” His accent was clear local Spanish. Probably a Mexican. The other guys laughed and their eyes suddenly turned lustful making me shiver bitterly. The cold gusty wind wasn't helping right now either. The breeze became violent and one quickly said. “Hamagos rápidamente aquello a lo que vinimos aquí!” (Let's do what we came here for quickly!) He sounded harsh and one spoke. “Hand over all your belongings! Hurry up!”“But... I don't have anything on me.” I said shaking to my bones. The guy who spoke full Spanish yelled out something else in Spanish. He seemed angry with my answer. And the next thing I knew he grabbed me hard by my arm and glared at me menacingly. My eyes were enlarged so much that I felt pain from enlarging my eyeballs beyond required. Tears stung my eyes as I hiccuped in fear. “Mentiroso!” He screamed at my face while I closed my eyes shivering all over. How I wished Adam was here with me and not so far away from me right now. I didn't have anything on me not even my credit card. Only my phone and a few dollar notes were all I had on me at the moment. I wasn't the type to carry around large bundles of money nor credit cards.“Then we'll have to kill her and simply take everything she has on her.” Another guy said sternly and he loaded his gun before he pointed the nuzzle of his gun against the side of my head. I was practically sweating on my forehead profusely and immediately shut my eyes tightly and all I could think of was Adam. His golden amber eyes. His sweet and endearing smile and how it always lights up the whole room of my heart and soul. It all came to me and it seemed like I won't see him again. I won't get to hold him and hug him tightly. To inhale and perceive his scent. To have his body smell rub off on me just like that night when we made love to each other. Tears slowly slided down my face as I felt like I was soon going to embrace death.“Step away from her you assholes!” An unfamiliar masculine deep and rough voice boomed from the distance. I felt the nuzzle of the gun move away from my head and I opened my eyes slowly only to blink in surprise when I saw none other than the new guy standing casually from a few meters away from us. Trevor was his name I recalled. And I was glad that he was here.“Will you become my mistress?”Jack asked and in that split moment, everything shattered to pieces like fragile glass. In that fleeting moment, everything was ruined. The illusion wasn't there anymore. It had faded away. Ana pressed her lips tightly before she looked at Jack, her eyes only held nothing but pure disappointment. Now she was very sure that the man seated next to her wasn't Adam. Her Adam would never ask of something like that from her. Adam was more than a gentleman, he was honest and faithful in so many ways. She shook her head, her eyes which once held him in such a high place for having being a gentleman, he had finally showed his true colours, and Ana couldn't help but recall how he had insisted she stay in his penthouse until her arm was fully healed, it was all his plan to try and get in between her legs. “You....no, it can't be, you can't be him...” Ana forgot to breathe for a moment while peering deep into Jack's emotionless amber eyes. “This was the reason yo
The phone kept on ringing for a few minutes. “Won't you answer that?” Ana asked. Jack turned off his phone, ending the call before he continued with his dinner, acting like nothing had just happened. Ana blinked but kept to herself and also got back to picking on her food. His phone rang again, and Jack turned off his phone once again. “Please have your dinner, Ms. Robinson.” His reply was curt and Ana was quick to realize that. She wondered if the call from his wife had turned his mood into a sour one. His phone rang again, and this time Ana looked at Jack. “Your wife will only stop calling when you answer it.” “Have your dinner, Ms. Robinson.” Jack said harshly and Ana frowned before she angrily dropped the fork on her plate, used her butt to pull out her chair and stood up abruptly. “I can't concentrate on the food when your phone keeps on ringing all the time, Mr Miller!” Ana fumed before she attempted to take a step away from the chair but her other leg hit the leg of h
“Yes, Kayla. Please don't worry, I'm fine. It wasn't a serious accident.” Ana told Kayla over the phone. She lied to Kayla about crashing over at a colleague's house because of more workload at the office. She heard Kayla sigh with relief over the phone. “Okay, I'm glad it wasn't serious and that you are okay. I'd have felt horrible knowing if the accident had been fatal, I'm responsible for you, Anastasia.” Ana smiled. “I'm fine, Kayla. I'll be back in a day or two, depending on how fast we complete the work pending at the office.” “That's totally fine then. Oh, Nora wants to talk to you. I'll pass her the phone.” Kayla said and the line went silent for a few seconds before Nora's voice came in through the phone's speakers. “Hello bitch.” Nora's hyperactive voice rang through the speakers. “Hey Nora.” Ana winced a little when she slightly positioned her arm sling. “Okay, Kayla isn't near me right now. Now spill out everything. What the hell happened to you. And I don't buy th
Ana woke up and felt a bitter taste in her mouth. She tried to move to her side and groaned when she felt the soreness of her muscles and her left ribs. There was also a huge arm sling from her right shoulder down to her right arm. She bit her lower lip when she heard a woman telling her, “You're awake.” Ana forced her eyes to fully clear before she saw a woman seated by her bedside. And now Ana had a look around her and noticed this wasn't her bedroom at Kayla's apartment. She wondered where she was and held her head that now seemed to be very heavy for her neck. “Please don't move, your body isn't fully recovered yet.” The woman said and Ana looked at her again, possibly for her to tell her who she was. “The name's Jessie, I'm a nurse.” “Um, Jessie, what happened to me?...” Ana briefly closed her eyes and inhaled when a splitting headache suddenly gushed in her head and she had to rest her head against the soft headboard. “You were in an accident.” Jessie told her and Ana looked
Ana stepped inside the conference room, she was smoothing her brand new navy blue skirt and took a deep breath when she looked up. A long oval glass table was in front of her, and a few unfamiliar faces were seated. At the opposite end of the table was Jack who was seated with his eyes studying a particular file in his hands, and Kent who sat next to him. Ana wore a wide smile on her face as she looked at the business executives who were now staring back at her, waiting for her to begin. Her chest was thumping with every deep beat. She was very nervous, even though this wasn't her first time presenting in front of an audience, it was here first time presenting an idea for a project that was worth billions. She recalled how she only shut down her laptop around 4;23am this morning and only got around two hours of sleep. She really wanted to make it work, in Jack's eyes. She searched so much on the internet regarding ecological reserves with offices and shopping malls, did a lot of r
Woah! I can't believe I'm back here once again, gosh I almost forgot all about this book entirely. But I decided to return back to this book. A lot has happened since the last chapter, I was lost for a while and had to emotionally stabilize myself. I won't lie, the reason I dropped this book was because when I started writing it, I had hoped for a lot of readers to read it, so when it wasn't gaining the attention that it deserved, I felt really less motivated each day. But of course that was my young author mind back then and I was still a newbie in my brain. I have matured a lot now since completing HIS CAPTIVE ANGEL, so I'm thanking a few readers who still sought me out for this book. I honestly didn't think that anyone would still be interested in this book, but I was wrong. Thank you to those who still are here and are still patiently waiting for this book to commence. Like I said, I almost forgot this book's entire plot, so if you had asked me a couple weeks ago what MISTRES
