The phone kept on ringing for a few minutes. “Won't you answer that?” Ana asked. Jack turned off his phone, ending the call before he continued with his dinner, acting like nothing had just happened. Ana blinked but kept to herself and also got back to picking on her food. His phone rang again, and Jack turned off his phone once again. “Please have your dinner, Ms. Robinson.” His reply was curt and Ana was quick to realize that. She wondered if the call from his wife had turned his mood into a sour one. His phone rang again, and this time Ana looked at Jack. “Your wife will only stop calling when you answer it.”“Have your dinner, Ms. Robinson.” Jack said harshly and Ana frowned before she angrily dropped the fork on her plate, used her butt to pull out her chair and stood up abruptly. “I can't concentrate on the food when your phone keeps on ringing all the time, Mr Miller!” Ana fumed before she attempted to take a step away from the chair but her other leg hit the leg of her ch
“Yes, Kayla. Please don't worry, I'm fine. It wasn't a serious accident.” Ana told Kayla over the phone. She lied to Kayla about crashing over at a colleague's house because of more workload at the office. She heard Kayla sigh with relief over the phone. “Okay, I'm glad it wasn't serious and that you are okay. I'd have felt horrible knowing if the accident had been fatal, I'm responsible for you, Anastasia.” Ana smiled. “I'm fine, Kayla. I'll be back in a day or two, depending on how fast we complete the work pending at the office.” “That's totally fine then. Oh, Nora wants to talk to you. I'll pass her the phone.” Kayla said and the line went silent for a few seconds before Nora's voice came in through the phone's speakers. “Hello bitch.” Nora's hyperactive voice rang through the speakers. “Hey Nora.” Ana winced a little when she slightly positioned her arm sling. “Okay, Kayla isn't near me right now. Now spill out everything. What the hell happened to you. And I don't buy th
Ana woke up and felt a bitter taste in her mouth. She tried to move to her side and groaned when she felt the soreness of her muscles and her left ribs. There was also a huge arm sling from her right shoulder down to her right arm. She bit her lower lip when she heard a woman telling her, “You're awake.” Ana forced her eyes to fully clear before she saw a woman seated by her bedside. And now Ana had a look around her and noticed this wasn't her bedroom at Kayla's apartment. She wondered where she was and held her head that now seemed to be very heavy for her neck. “Please don't move, your body isn't fully recovered yet.” The woman said and Ana looked at her again, possibly for her to tell her who she was. “The name's Jessie, I'm a nurse.” “Um, Jessie, what happened to me?...” Ana briefly closed her eyes and inhaled when a splitting headache suddenly gushed in her head and she had to rest her head against the soft headboard. “You were in an accident.” Jessie told her and Ana looked
Ana stepped inside the conference room, she was smoothing her brand new navy blue skirt and took a deep breath when she looked up. A long oval glass table was in front of her, and a few unfamiliar faces were seated. At the opposite end of the table was Jack who was seated with his eyes studying a particular file in his hands, and Kent who sat next to him. Ana wore a wide smile on her face as she looked at the business executives who were now staring back at her, waiting for her to begin. Her chest was thumping with every deep beat. She was very nervous, even though this wasn't her first time presenting in front of an audience, it was here first time presenting an idea for a project that was worth billions. She recalled how she only shut down her laptop around 4;23am this morning and only got around two hours of sleep. She really wanted to make it work, in Jack's eyes. She searched so much on the internet regarding ecological reserves with offices and shopping malls, did a lot of r
Woah! I can't believe I'm back here once again, gosh I almost forgot all about this book entirely. But I decided to return back to this book. A lot has happened since the last chapter, I was lost for a while and had to emotionally stabilize myself. I won't lie, the reason I dropped this book was because when I started writing it, I had hoped for a lot of readers to read it, so when it wasn't gaining the attention that it deserved, I felt really less motivated each day. But of course that was my young author mind back then and I was still a newbie in my brain. I have matured a lot now since completing HIS CAPTIVE ANGEL, so I'm thanking a few readers who still sought me out for this book. I honestly didn't think that anyone would still be interested in this book, but I was wrong. Thank you to those who still are here and are still patiently waiting for this book to commence. Like I said, I almost forgot this book's entire plot, so if you had asked me a couple weeks ago what MISTRES
Ana was taken to her office which was beside Jack's office. She didn't get to even admire her interior decors when a woman stepped into her office to inform her about accompanying Mr Miller out. Ana knew nothing about construction nor about architecture. She only knew about accounts and numbers. She only hoped she didn't let Jack down and be fired before she could find out anything about him. She wanted to know everything about him. She was more convinced he was Adam. Ana came outside and was directed to the CEO's car which was waiting for her. She quickly opened the door of the passenger seat and got seated before hearing Jack from the back seat. “You are late Ms Robinson.” “I am sorry sir.” Ana didn't know why he was making a big deal. She was barely even allowed to have a seat in her office when she was called out. She almost trippped on her little heels when rushing out the door. Ana couldn't help but look at him through the rear view mirror. His eyes were focused on the tablet
