What do you think you're doing?" Alpha asks angrily. It's been years since I last saw my father like this.
Zya starts trembling, "I only wanted to teach her a lesson, I didn't mean to hurt her.""Isn't she older than you? Who should be teaching whom a lesson?" He questions, and Zya remains silent. I can't believe my father is publicly defending me like this. I thought he had forgotten about me long ago. His eyes briefly meet mine, and he seems stunned before quickly looking away. Nothing has changed; he still can't bear to look at my face."Are you alright, child?" He asks softly, avoiding eye contact."I'm fine, Alpha. Thank you for your concern," I reply, bowing my head respectfully.I miss the time when he was still a father to me. We used to be inseparable, and I would cry whenever he wasn't around. Even my mother was envious of our bond. But now, look at us. It's nobody's fault but his.He reaches out for my arm, but I instinctively step back, feeling uncomfortable with his touch. Sadness flickers in his eyes, and he looks hurt for a moment. However, it does little to sway me. He has no idea what I have endured in this place."Come with me!" He commands in his alpha tone, giving Zya one last glance. "As for you, go and kneel in the front yard until the sun sets."Zya initially prepares to voice her objections, but quickly decides against it and obediently responds, "Yes, alpha." She then starts walking towards the front yard as instructed.Meanwhile, Alpha turns in the opposite direction, and I am left with no choice but to follow him, despite having just promised the luna that I would stay away from their sight forever. I hope that all of this will come to an end soon so that I can escape to a place where no one will ever find me, as I have planned. He leads me to his living quarters, and as we enter the building, a middle-aged woman appears. She greets Alpha and he introduces me as his daughter, Harlow. He entrusts me to her care and she assures him that she will do a good job. With that, Alpha walks away, leaving me alone with Mary. "Come on, miss," she urges, "there's no time to waste." Mary takes me to a stream and instructs me to undress. When I refuse, she undresses me forcefully and pushes me into the water, scrubbing my back vigorously with her strong fists.Once the torturous bath is over, Mary leads me to a small room where she proceeds to dress me in a luxurious silk robe. It looks incredibly fancy and expensive. "Excuse me, but are you sure there isn't a mistake here?" I can't help but question. My father's sudden change raises many doubts and uncertainties. "There is absolutely no mistake whatsoever," Mary says, gently brushing my hair. "You will see for yourself, but for now, please sit still and let me do my work." I do not press further, and as time passes, I begin to doze off until Mary taps me back to consciousness, indicating that she is finished. She instructs me to follow her, and although reluctantly, I get up and trail behind her, yawning every five seconds. After walking through the long corridors for several minutes, Mary stops in front of a black door. I yawn widely, but Mary turns to face me, causing me to freeze mid-yawn. "You must close your mouth when you enter that room," she warns, and I find myself nodding in response.I quietly close my mouth, being careful not to make a sound. Mary is satisfied with this and proceeds to pull the door handle, although she does not enter with me. My heart pounds heavily in my chest, but I gather the courage to step into the room. The room is spacious, with white-painted walls. In the center, there is a large table surrounded by numerous chairs. The alpha sits at the head of the table, with two men positioned on either side. They appear to be engaged in a conversation, but pause as I enter, turning their heads in my direction. The alpha seems pleased, while the men gaze at me with an expression that I cannot quite decipher. It makes me incredibly uneasy, and I have an urge to hide away. However, I gather my strength and continue moving forward."This is my daughter, Harlow," the alpha proudly introduces me.They erupted into applause, marveling at how the beautiful gem had been kept hidden for so long. The potbellied bald man, who appeared to be in his forties, spoke up, asking if she was a virgin. Another man, much younger but with an unappealing face, joined in the inquiry. Alpha confidently confirmed that she was indeed a virgin, causing everyone to laugh, completely disregarding my presence. I felt disgusted and uncomfortable among them, but I could only listen silently. The bald man then proposed a deal, offering fifty plots of land in exchange for the girl. Alpha seemed to consider it, but before he could respond, another man interjected. He offered to marry Alpha's daughter and in return, presented an enticing offer of fifty cattle and sixty plots of land.Alpha was about to speak, but the man with the unattractive face beat him to it, proudly proclaiming his offer of a hundred cattle and a hundred plots of land, convinced that no one could top it.Alpha turned to Marc, a man who had remained silent throughout the conversation. Only one side of his face was visible to me, revealing his good looks. Alpha asked for his input, and Marc cleared his throat before speaking up. He offered an impressive deal of two hundred and fifty horses, a hundred cattle, and two hundred acres of land in exchange for Alpha's daughter's hand. He then turned to Henry, awaiting his response.I felt like an item up for auction, waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. The room fell silent when Marc made his declaration, and no one dared to make another offer. "Then Marc shall have her," Alpha broke the sudden silence. This news brought a smile to Marc's face, but I was too horrified to speak. How could my own father do this to me? It was one thing that he neglected me for half of my life, but now he was selling me off to a stranger in exchange for livestock and land. I should have realized something was amiss when he introduced me to everyone as his daughter."What are you waiting for?" Alpha's voice snapped me back to reality. "Won't you go and greet your husband?""We never discussed this, Alpha," I mustered up sudden courage.Alpha was shocked by my sudden challenge, but anger quickly replaced his expression. "Since when do I need your permission to make a decision?"But I was the one getting married. If anything, he should have informed me beforehand. I could only bri
As nightfall approached, I anxiously fiddled with my dress, waiting for Marc to enter the room as he had promised. Earlier, there had been a heated argument among his wives, with Jade, the third wife, who claimed that she was told she would be the last. Blair, on the other hand, couldn't bear the thought of sharing her husband with another woman more beautiful than her and demanded that I be kicked out. Rona simply insisted that Marc sends me packing without offering a reason. As a maid led me to the bedroom, I already knew that my time here would not be easy. Never in my twenty years of existence did I imagine that I would end up marrying a man with three wives and becoming the fourth.Alpha must have known about this situation beforehand, yet he still allowed me to be given to Marc. My hatred for my father grew stronger with each passing second. Suddenly, the door swung open, interrupting my thoughts. Marc entered the room with an air of majesty, and I sat up, unsure of what would h
My cheeks were still sore from the slap I received earlier in the day. It took all the maids in the mansion to separate us from each other. Ever since then, I made sure to keep my distance from all three of them. I sought solace in the garden, admiring the beautiful flowers, when someone sneaked up from behind and pushed me into the pond.I struggled to breathe, desperately gasping for air in the water. Rona, however, just stood there, watching me with pity. "Please," I begged as the water filled my lungs. I didn't know how to swim."If I help you, will you promise to run away and leave my husband for good?" she asked mischievously.I wanted to tell her that it wasn't my decision to make, but I was starting to lose consciousness. "Have you lost your mind?" Marc's angry voice boomed. Without waiting for her response, he dived into the water and rescued me.Rona showed no remorse, her posture unwavering as she stood confidently. He guided me out of the water, my breath heavy and labored
Rona stared at me patiently like she was waiting for me to say something that wasn’t right and honestly I had no opinion on that.“We can’t be too sure, he might still get an heir.” I muttered innocently and that made Rona chuckle loudly.“And who would be giving him the heir?” Rona questioned staring at me like she was waiting for me to say something but I could see through her facade, all she wanted was for me to slip and say something to get me in more trouble or cause a fight.“I don’t know? Anyone of you three or perhaps even me.” I stuttered avoiding her gaze think she was about to do something bad to me but she started laughing out of blue making me think she must really love laughing.“You think you might get the possibility or chance of being a mother or the mother of the heir to the throne?” Rona said as she paced up to me.“You are just imagining stuff and that’s why exactly I told you in advance.” Rona muttered to me but I wasn’t brave enough to look away or talk back.“Yo
“But that’s different here, you are the newest and let’s hope you are the last…I can assure you that our boss would treat you well.” Mirabel said and that last phrase made me laugh because it sounded so funny.“Why do you call him your boss?” I asked her and surprisingly she joined me in laughter.“I am one of the new maids so I haven't really stood face to face with him let alone talked to him and everyone calls him sir marc, I didn’t want to make awkward between us so I called him boss.” Mirabel said.“That explains the weird name but Mirabel, don't you think something about this palace is weird?” I said to Mirabel who nodded almost immediately.“Blair is the weirdest thing to ever happen to this palace, she just commands everyone like she owns this place and she seems to always have her way with the boss, like he is also under her control.” Mirabel said which Amma do everything even more interesting as I took a seat closer to her.“That’s can’t be, marc looks like a really fierce p
My gaze went to Blair who was very angry as she stared at me. Marc tightened the hug as I smiled at Blair and jade. After a few seconds of hugging me he let go of me and smiled as he stared into my eyes.“I never expected you to accept me this way but I am more than happy you decide to stay.” Marc said to me but I didn’t know what to say but just keep quiet.“I didn’t even last a week after I found out that I won’t have a child but I didn’t even talk to Marc or greet him for weeks and past a month sef.” Jade said like she was so nice to me after all the stupid threat.“Ohh.” I stuttered with a fake smile, Marc escorted me to his bed and pushed Blair away from his side making her scoff as she stared at me angrily.“You should also take your seat beside me, do you know I can foresee that you would end up being my favorite bride.” Marc said and I swear that Blair was on the verge of stabbing me.“I would really love to be your favorite bride but how would that be possible if I can’t even
“You think you're so special, don't you? Well, let me make one thing clear, Harlow. I will not let you overshadow me. If you try to get pregnant, I will do everything in my power to make sure it fails."I couldn’t believe Blair could say something like that to me,she was really bent on making my life a living hell.“I know you think that your threat might make me panic a bit and not enable me to do what I set my mind to do…” I said before pausing intentionally as I paced close to her and smiled.“You just make me think there is more to this Marc infertility than you guys let out and the funny part is you are also keeping Marc in the dark and that’s isn’t right.” I said and paused yet again, she wasn’t a bit shaken but I could feel her flicker. That means my words were getting to her and that alone is enough for me.“I would try to prove all of you wrong because you know what I think, I think you all are ganging up intentionally to stop Marc from getting an heir and I really want to se
I walked into my bedroom and held my chest in my hands as I still couldn’t believe I just said all that…I tried to calm my breath down and locked the door with the keys in fright..I feared blair might just come and attack for no reason and I want ready to risk that at all.I still had a long life ahead and Marc three wives won’t make my life get shortened…I looked around in fright because I can’t tell if Blair’ hadn’t gotten to me because she seemed so much like a witch to me.After being sure that I wasn’t followed by blair, I sat on the bed and stared around…I might be alone but it felt like jade or value was watching me, juts then I heard a knock and out of fright i whimpered before slowly working towards the door, I wasn’t even able to ask who was at the door.I peeped through the tiny hole and it was Rona, I held my chest to stop it from beating too fast. What could she possibly want? I questioned myself before slowly opening the door and she stood there with a smile.“Can I com
