I expected to see Nick's angry blue eyes appear from behind the door, but when a panicked pair of dark blue eyes met my gaze, I froze in place. "Gregs?" I wiped my tears with the back of my hand then blinked at him walking towards me.He pulled me behind him so I was behind him, protected from Alastair. "Are you okay?" He just turned his head slightly, then his gaze returned to the man sitting across from me. I didn't know which was more dominant at the moment, my relief or my surprise. And it looks like I'm not the only one surprised.Alastair looked surprised enough that his mouth parted slightly as he stared at Greg. "Wait a minute ... " he muttered to himself, "I invited the wrong brother?"'I received your message." Greg answered briefly, "Nick doesn't know, until now he is still looking for you. You better get out of this place as soon as possible, otherwise I will kill you myself." Greg's voice was calm, but every sentence contained enough threat.Alastair just sighed and stood
(POV - Nicholas Shaw)My hands gripped the steering wheel of my car so tightly that my knuckles turned white. Frustration mixed with anger made my eyes change color since earlier, this time I can no longer control my feelings.Eleanor is still here. My instincts told me that. Erik and Greg are looking on the other side of Manhattan, I haven't seen them since Eleanor disappeared this morning.Twice. Twice in 24 hours she'd disappeared, and this time Alastair had actually kidnapped her. I don't know how none of us three noticed the intruder's presence. I will not rest until Eleanor comes back to me, and I will make sure this is the last time Alastair touches her.He will pay for it. I won't stop until Alastair pays her twice ... no, three times this.My cell phone which was on the seat next to me vibrated, I glanced at it as an unknown number flashed on the screen then ignored it. Kugas my car faster through the quiet streets, has not stopped at all since this morning until midnight. Wh
[Eleanor's POV]My gaze is fixed on the sink in the pantry. A dark red viscous liquid stuck to some of the white ceramic, then my eyes shifted to the bottle in my hand. This is the third time I've tried to drink the blood that Greg brought me, and the third time I've vomited it. Does this blood expire?I placed the bottle on the counter and turned on the sink faucet until all the blood on the ceramic disappeared. I rubbed my stomach while reaching for the cell phone that Greg gave me earlier, then sent a short message regarding the blood supply he gave before returning to bed. I know the early stages of pregnancy are very risky, at least for humans, so I have to ask for a new blood supply as soon as possible even though I'm not really hungry yet. There's still enough health for Alastair for the next few hours, or so. I closed my eyes as sleep overtook me. Where is Nick now? Is he looking for me? That question became my last thought before my sleepiness couldn't be resisted anymore.**
When Nick said go home, I thought he would take me home to the house he shared with Greg. But the car turned into a building I knew so well, I didn't ask until we pulled into the basement parking lot. Maybe Nick is planning on taking some of his work home, I can imagine how long he's been out of work. "I'll just wait here." I said as he opened my door."You will wait here all night, Eleanor." Nick pulled the corners of his mouth up. He looks messy and handsome at the same time. His bearded jaw and messy hair stand in stark contrast to his usually neat appearance. Although his eyes still looked serious as usual.I want to kiss him.'Eleanor?" He raised his eyebrows, waiting for me to come out. Upon leaving I slightly wondered how many women like me had fallen under his charms. No, I don't think Nick ever flirted with women on purpose. Greg is more likely, the two brothers are like polar opposites. Nick took me to a smaller basement lift and took out a black card. I just realized that t
My eyes opened very quickly."Lana?" I muttered while looking at her standing in front of Nick, her hands tightly clenched into fists. Greg was standing not far from her. "What did you do to Ella?" She sounded a little hysterical when she asked Nick, and Nick seemed too surprised to answer."I'll take her home." She walked past Nick who froze in place. Lana's blue eyes looked really angry ... and on me. But only a few steps, Nick turned around quickly and grabbed Lana's hand until she stopped. The next second Greg gripped Nick's arm "Get your hands off of her." Greg's voice makes the hairs on my back prickle."You can't take her back." Nick paid no heed to Greg's warning at all, his gaze focused on Lana.Like a game of tug of war the three of them look ridiculous. Even though I could tell the atmosphere in the room was turning tense, I couldn't help but chuckle. My previously sad mood changed drastically when I saw those three people. I guess this is one effect of pregnancy."Of cours
(POV - Nicholas Shaw)Two hundred years ago nothing in my life was more important than power. Two hundred years later the only thing that matters in my life is a woman. If I could go back in time and tell my younger self about Eleanor, maybe the past me would just snort and forget. But now ...I put my right hand into my trouser pocket, my fingers touching the soft surface of the velvet in the shape of a small square. It took me a long time to choose it until I had to be late for home. But it's all worth the ring in my pocket right now. It was the ruby that I finally chose for Eleanor. Even from the first time I saw her I knew this ring would be perfect for her.I didn't plan for this at all, getting married isn't the most important thing right now.No, as long as I haven't gotten rid of Alastair then Eleanor isn't completely mine. But lately Eleanor seems to be getting farther away from me, no matter how close she is to my side I can feel her thoughts are far away from me. I want to
Somehow we made it through dinner with Greg and Lana. After I told him about my pregnancy, Nick was silent for quite a while. He didn't even look at me after that. For a moment I was sure He would leave me. I know I took too long to tell him but still no matter how much I tried to prepare myself, Nick's response still hurt.I can't remember how long I stood staring at his back until he suddenly stood up and muttered we would be late for dinner if we didn't leave soon. Dinner with Greg and Lana was the last thing on my mind, but I couldn't say a word against it.Nick didn't ignore me but he barely looked at me during dinner. When Greg poured Wine for me Nick exchanged it with a glass of water without saying a word, Greg just frowned slightly when he saw Nick's attitude. They were both still cold to each other. The only one who saved me that night was Lana, she distracted me for a while with our chat. The journey home was a torment in itself for me, or maybe for both of us.Nick didn't
Everything happened so fast. The sound of the bell woke me from sleep, I felt our bed move when Nick came down. I didn't know what time it was so I closed my eyes again, but the ensuing silence made me open them again and look at the digital clock beside my bed showing 2 p.m.The next second the sound of something breaking was heard from outside followed by Nick's voice shouting angrily. My heart seemed to jump in my chest cavity when the sound of glass being broken sounded again, in the middle of the darkness I got out of bed and put on my nightrobe."I will kill you if you touch her!" Nick's threat made me slow down my steps, with a beating heart my hand opened the bedroom door knob. Nick stood with his back to me with his body tense, He was only wearing his pajama trousers. But such a strong killing aura was emitting from his body that it made the fine hairs on my body bristle. He clenched his fists tightly and my breath caught when I saw broken glass and fresh blood flowing from h
