Shadow’s words pierce my chest like thorns, whispering of what’s to come—of the shadows stalking us. But I refuse to let that fear paralyze me. I can’t. Not after everything we’ve lived through, not after everything I’ve discovered about myself by being near him.

Beside him, I am stronger. I can feel his energy—so intense, so dark—wrapping around me, consuming me. There’s something so mesmerizing, so addictive in the way his power melds with mine. Something in his eyes tells me we’re on the edge of something irreversible. And despite everything, part of me craves that abyss. Craves to fall into the darkness with him.

“We fall together,” I say, the decision already forged into my voice. Each word lands firmer than the last, as if I’ve shed every lingering doubt. “I don’t want to live with the regret of not choosing you.”

Shadow watches me for a long moment. His eyes seem to see beyond my body, beyond my words, as if trying to unravel every secret I carry. The silence between us is heavy, but somehow, I feel closer to him than ever before.

“You don’t know what you’re saying, Eve,” he finally answers, his voice low, almost a murmur. It’s a tone I don’t want to hear—laced with concern, on the brink of breaking. “This isn’t just about us. There are much bigger things at play. Things we can’t control. And everything we’re setting in motion... it could destroy us.”

My heart pounds like it’s trying to break free from my chest. But I won’t agree. I won’t surrender to doubt. If there’s one thing I’ve learned by his side, it’s that I am no longer the same person I was before I met him. And that is what both terrifies and draws me most.

“If we don’t fight—if we don’t follow what we feel,” I say, my voice trembling with the weight of the moment, “then what’s left for us? To live in fear? With the certainty that we never even tried?”

I move closer, my heartbeat thundering in my ears. And even though every instinct warns me that this is dangerous—that we’re playing with fire—I can’t retreat. I’ve gone too far. I’m too lost in this need.

Shadow closes his eyes, his body tense, as if wrestling an invisible tide. For a few seconds, everything seems to freeze—like we’re suspended in time, caught in an endless loop of love and pain. When he finally opens them, his gaze is so intense, it feels like it could cut through me.

“You’re so young, Eve,” he says, and there’s a deep sadness woven into his words. “You don’t know what you’re asking. But I can’t tell you to walk away. Because I don’t know if I could walk away from you.”

My hands tremble as I touch his face, feeling the warmth of his skin against the cold edge of his words. I look into his eyes, searching—desperate for some sign that what we have is not an illusion, that this love—so forbidden, so destructive—is real.

“I won’t walk away from you,” I whisper, my breath mingling with his, brushing against his lips. “Not even if the world falls apart.”

His eyes darken. His breathing quickens. A shiver travels down my spine. This is the moment when everything could fall apart. This is the line between love and pain. And I don’t know if we can cross it without being burned.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps in the dark tears through the intensity of the moment. We both tense—alert—as if the dangers that once loomed in the distance have now arrived. Shadow places a hand on my shoulder, gently moving me aside as he steps between me and the sound. His posture is protective, but there’s something in his eyes that tells me we are not alone.

“They’re here,” he murmurs, his voice low and sharp.

I hear him, but I don’t fully understand. My heart is racing again. Something’s coming—and it’s not just the fear of what we might do to each other. This war—this battle he spoke of—is far bigger than us. And it has already begun.

The footsteps stop nearby, and a whisper slithers through the shadows. I can’t see who it belongs to, but I can feel the presence. A cold sensation creeps down my spine, like unseen eyes are watching us, waiting for the right moment to strike.

“What’s happening, Shadow?” I ask, though I know he can’t answer right away.

He stares ahead, his body coiled in tension. The muscles in his back are tight, and a flicker of anger flashes in his eyes.

“We don’t have time for this,” he says, nearly growling. “We have to go. Now.”

My body moves before my mind can catch up, and I find myself following him—running without thinking—driven by the single need to stay close. To not lose him. The love, the desire, the desperation I feel for Shadow pulls me forward—toward him, toward the unknown.

“Where are we going?” I ask, though I know there are no clear answers. There’s no safety in this world we’ve stepped into. Only darkness—and broken promises.

“Anywhere we can hide,” he replies, his tone grave, tinged with a desperation I haven’t heard before. “If we stay here, we won’t just lose ourselves. They’ll lose us both.”

And in that instant, I understand. They’ve found us. But this… this is only the beginning.

The battle for our love—for our survival—has just begun.

Maxwell’s presence fills the cabin with a tense, electric energy. It's as if he brings with him the promise of more chaos—but also, strangely, a sense of relief. Shadow trusts him, that much is clear, though not completely.“Is there a safe way out of here?” Shadow asks, his voice carrying that commanding tone he uses when he’s in control.Maxwell shakes his head, jaw clenched.“Not with the speed they’re moving. Klaus has trackers in every direction. If we leave now, we’ll be surrounded before dawn.”“Then we fight here,” Shadow replies, calm but resolute. My stomach twists. We fight?” I repeat, my throat suddenly dry. Both men turn to me. Maxwell looks at me like I’m a lost girl in a dark forest, but Shadow steps closer, placing a steady hand on my shoulder.“Lyra, this cabin isn’t ideal, but we can use it to our advantage. It’s familiar ground, and we have a little time to set traps.”“Traps?” My voice rises a little higher than I’d like, but I can’t help it.Maxwell lets out a sho

Shadow holds me in his arms as I try to steady my breathing. His warmth—so comforting, so familiar—is the only anchor I have in the midst of the chaos. The cabin is a wreck: shattered furniture, claw marks on the walls, and the metallic stench of blood thick in the air. But right now, the only thing that matters is that we're still alive.“You shouldn't have done that, Lyra,” he says, his tone stern, though his hands on my back are unbearably gentle.I pull back just enough to look into his eyes, my fingers still clutching the front of his blood-stained shirt.“What was I supposed to do? Just stand there and watch them kill you?”He exhales slowly, eyes closing like he's caught between yelling at me or kissing me.“I can't lose you, Lyra,” he finally confesses, his voice no more than a whisper.“Then don't ever ask me to walk away again,” I reply firmly—and this time, it's me who closes the distance between us.Our lips meet, and the world stops spinning. It’s a desperate kiss, charge

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   75. Howls of War

The air inside the cabin feels heavy, thick with tension and emotions that refuse to settle. Shadow moves like a caged wolf, pacing the small space back and forth, checking the windows, making sure everything is locked and secure. I remain seated on the couch, my hands still trembling slightly after his kiss. It’s as if that moment ignited something in both of us—something we can’t ignore, yet are terrified to name.“How dangerous is Klaus, really?” I ask, breaking the silence.Shadow stops, leaning against the wall beside the window. His face is grim, and the moonlight spilling through the glass sharpens the angles of his features.“He’s dangerous like few others,” he replies, not looking directly at me. “He’s calculating. Patient. He won’t stop until he gets what he wants.”“And what is it he wants?” I press, though part of me already knows the answer. At last, his eyes meet mine, and the weight of his gaze steals the air from my lungs.“Me… dead. And you, Lyra, as his weapon.”His

We don’t go straight back to the cabin. Shadow insists on taking a long, winding path through the forest, making sure Klaus isn’t following us—though I’m pretty sure that if that man wanted to find us, he already would’ve. The tension between us is thick enough to choke on. He walks ahead of me, broad back and stiff shoulders, like he’s carrying the weight of the world.I, on the other hand, am battling the thousand questions spinning in my head. Who is Klaus, really? What kind of “mistake from the past” could stir up that level of hatred? And more importantly: what role do I play in all of this? The silence stretches until I can’t take it anymore.“You can’t keep leaving everything up in the air, Shadow.”My voice comes out sharper than I intended, almost like a challenge. He stops so abruptly I nearly crash into his back. He turns to me, his dark eyes gleaming with a mixture of frustration—and something else I can’t quite name.“What do you want me to say, Lyra?” he asks, his voice

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   73. On the Edge of Chaos

The name Klaus is a poison that seeps into the air between us. Shadow stands rigid in front of me, like a wall of iron, and I can feel the intensity of his inner struggle. His protective instinct clashes with the fury crackling in the air, like a storm waiting to be unleashed."Who the hell is Klaus?" I whisper, trying to keep my voice steady as I take a step back, aware that my presence might be more of a burden than a help.Klaus lets out a laugh that echoes through the trees. It's a hollow sound, laced with malice, and it sends a shiver racing down my spine. He takes another step toward us, his figure now bathed in the pale glow of the moon. His eyes shine with something wild, and the smile on his face feels more like a challenge than any sign of joy."Hasn't he told you, darling?" Klaus asks, his tone mocking as he looks at me with bold amusement. "I’m... an old thorn in your precious lycan’s side. Though, personally, I prefer to think of myself as a reminder of everything he trie

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   72. A Perfect Disaster

The wind blowing through the open windows carries a cool breeze that brushes against my skin.Shadow is leaning against the window frame, staring out at the forest surrounding us, as if searching for something in the distance.Though the stillness of the moment should soothe me, I know there's a storm behind his eyes he's trying hard to hide.“You know,” I say, breaking the silence that has settled between us, “I always thought that if I ever ended up trapped in a situation as ridiculous as this, it would be with someone a bit more… normal.”He turns to me, one brow arched, that crooked smile of his already forming—clear warning that something sarcastic is about to leave his mouth.“Normal?” he repeats, dragging the word out like it’s an insult. “And where’s the fun in that?”I can’t help but laugh. The way he always twists my words back at me makes me want to punch him… or kiss him. It’s a constant inner war, one I honestly enjoy far more than I should.“I don’t know. Maybe it’d be l
