CHAPTER 4 - Fresh Start

Erica's POV

It tooked me one week to prepare for this plan. I visited the salon yesterday to dyed my hair red, like the Weasley's hair in Harry Potter. I also brought red fake bangs to use it for my disguise. And also from now on, I will not wear any make up so I would look stressed and unrecognizable, but I need to wear contact lense to make my eyes look blue even though their brown. And Silver's boyfriend helped me create new and fake documents about me. I even changed my name, from Erica Roberts to Aila Miller.

My new name and my fake documents helped me get a job at my grandpa's company, I applied as a janitress. To be exact, today is my first day at work.

"Don't stare too much to someone you know." I remember the words that Silver said before I leave her house.

I'm at the lounge area of my grandpa's construction company, sitting on the couch while waiting for someone to assist me. I always keep my head down and avoid having long eye contacts to others so that no one would recognize me.

 "Miss Miller?"

"Miss Miller?"

"Aila Miller?"

Shoot! I forgot. That's my fake name. I stood up and face the lady who called my fake name many times already. "I'm---Aila Miller," I said with a cold voice as I faced her. She's a beautiful young lady who wears a janitress uniform.

"Oh. It's you. Come on. I'll show you around," she said with a smile. We leave the lounge area and walk towards the hallway. I maintain my head down while we are walking.

"My name is Eirin Smith, I'm also a janitress here. I'm already twenty-three," she introduced herself while walking. "How 'bout you?" she asked.

"I'm twenty-five---I mean twenty-four." I almost forgot that I have a fake age.

I heard her chuckled. "You don't have to be so nervous. You can approach me anytime," she said. I can sense that she is smiling but I just can't look up because I have to maintain bowing my head down.

"You seems lika a shy type person. Lift your head up a bit," she mentioned.

I refuse to do what she said. "I can't," I shortly replied.

"Okay," she said awkwardly. "By the way, do you kind if I ask this? But, do you have ear problems?" she asked.

My eyebrows furrowed. "Ear problems?" I asked back, without looking up.

"Back in the lounge area, I've called your name three times already but you didn't hear it, though I was just standin' in front of you," she stated.

Hope I could say that it was my fake name that's why I didn't bother to answer her. "Yeah. I have some sort of ear problems," I lied.

She opened a door and we went inside. It's a small room filled with shelves, boxes, and lockers. "This is the janitor's room," she mentioned.

"The equipments that we need like vacuum cleaner, mops, and brooms are in that corner." She pointed to the corner of the room where I saw a lot of equipments use for cleaning.

"The detergents, anti-bacterial chemicals, and alcohol are in these boxes." She pointed the three boxes filled with detergents and other chemicals used for cleaning.

She walked towards the lockers. "And this is our locker. Each of us have one. You can put your clothes here or any other stuffs."

She opened one of the lockers and I saw her put out a folded cloth from it. "This is our uniform. This is yours." She handed me the folded cloth and smile.

"You can go change at the restroom, just beside this room." I nodded as I take the folded cloth and went outside, walking directly to the door beside the Janitor's room.

After I change my clothes I went back to the Janitor's room and Eirin continued orienting me. "You will clean the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth floor, together with me."

I nodded after I heard all of her instructions and reminders. Both of us headed to the elevator, carying our cleaning supplies and materials, and goes up to the twenty-fourth floor.

We both agreed to clean in separate ways to make the job easier. Eirin said that some rooms in this floor are being used for meetings, and if I encounter a room with people meeting inside, I should not clean it yet.

Since now I'am a janitress here, I could easily find the important things that I need to find without anyone noticing me. They would just thought that I'm a normal janitress, just trying to clean and do my job. Aunt and uncle's office are on the thirty-sixth floor and I was assigned in the twenty-fourth floor, how am I suppose to make an alliby to go there?

As of now, I still need to finish my job and help Eirin. I started to mop the hallway's floor because no one is passing here yet.

After minutes of cleaning, someone spoke.

"Excuse me." I raised up my head to look at the person who spoke. I saw two good-looking men in their bussiness suits---Shoot!

I immediately looked down to the mop I'm holding. What the f*ck?! What is he doing here?! It's Klyde Aero Morrison! Did he recognize me?!

"You okay, miss?" asked the other guy whose with Klyde Morrison.

"Where is the Conference Room?" that was Klyde's cold voice.

I could already feel my knees shaking but I did my best to not make it obvious. I'm sweating out of nervousness.

"I-it's at the end of the hallway, sir," I answered. I changed my voice a bit, I made it sound deeper and cold so that he wouldn't recognize it.

I keep my head down and after a few seconds, I heard Klyde Morrison said "Thank you." Then they left.

I feel relieved. Phew! That was stressing! Maybe he didn't recognize me, right? I mean, we first met at the bar and it was dark there so I guess he didn't saw my face clearly. And now, I have my new look so maybe my disguise is effective and he didn't recognize me. Besides, I changed my voice when I answered them.

He didn't recognize me. And if he did, he would have said "Hey, I think I know you".

As long as nothing's wrong, I'm good.

I acted as if nothing happened and continued moping the floor.
