Chapter 9

After musing on my next course of action, I remembered that I had never thanked Rissa for saving me from that trap. Also, for the food and shelter.

I waited a few minutes, and she came out all dressed with her hands inside her pockets. She looked stunningly beautiful under the shadows of the moonlight.

“Rissa, I’m sorry for barging in like that. I didn’t mean to.” I pleaded, feeling genuinely sorry for her.

She sighed softly and nodded her head slowly, acknowledging my apology.

“Also, thanks for the food the other day. I don’t know what I would have done without it.” I walked closer to her. “I appreciate it a lot. “

I was happy when her face lit up with a bright smile. Then I realized that was the first time I had actually seen her smile, and it was totally refreshing.

“You’re welcome. Thanks for saving me today too. Although I’m still confused as to why you were trying to murder me.” She scowled.

As much as I’d love to have an ear with whom I can pour out my heart and share my burden
