49. The Awaited Words

My heart was pounding when I saw Mario's name on my phone screen. He must have investigated, Steve; maybe he has found the answer.

Am I ready to find out who did it?

"Hello?" I greeted him after picking up the call from Mario.

"It wasn't Steve who did it," said Mario matter-of-factly.

"What?" I screamed in shock.

Well, I'm glad Steve didn't do it, but that means someone else has bad intentions for me or my family.

"We've investigated very carefully. We even intercepted the number Steve was using. There was no suspicious activity. And when we checked the CCTVs in your house and where Steve was, it was not Steve." Mario explained.

"What if he asks someone else to do it? He did it before; he paid people to do it!" I said it quickly.

"Not a single message that planned the terror was detected coming out of Steve's house; even if he uses another cell phone, we will be able to read the message if it comes out of Steve's house. So, we conclude that Steve is clean. Do you have any other enemie
