Chapter 2

JESSICA

The forest was silent, too silent. The moon hung above like a watchful eye, painting the world in silver and shadow. I swung my blade again and again, each strike slicing through the air with desperate precision. Sweat clung to my skin and burned, but I didn't stop. I couldn’t bring myself to stop because all I could think of was revenge. It was ringing in my mind like a bell.

Every breath was a reminder of the day the werewolves came. They had taken everything from me. My family, my joy. All that I have left was my uncle and my wonderful friend Mel. My uncle taught me how to fight, how to hide, and how to hate.

Every morning I go to school with my friend and train in the evening. I train so hard with my uncle for my revenge and I don't joke with my education because it is very important to me. 

“ Jess Jess” I heard my friend calling me from outside and quickly rushed out with my bag to meet her. 

“ We are going to be late for class. Today we are having that evil, sexy and handsome professor class.” Her eyes lit up for a moment sparkling with quiet admiration

“ Do you like him” I asked as we were walking to school 

“ No, I just admire him and he is meant for someone even though he has been single.” 

I looked at her bewildered 

“ He is still single and he is a professor.” 

“ Yes and he is the youngest professor in our school”

We finally reached the school gates and went to our class. Mel and I sat down quietly. 

The air in the lecture hall changed the moment and I looked up and saw a tall, broad-shouldered, and dressed in a crisp white shirt that fit just right, he moved with quiet confidence. His black hair was slightly tousled, and when his deep, gray eyes swept across the room, every girl seemed to forget how to breathe.

I heard my friend whispering to me l

“ That is professor Lukas “

Professor Lukas Raven was the kind of man who made silence fall without saying a word. He set his books on the desk, his voice smooth and commanding.

“Good morning, class.”

The sound is low and magnetic which rolled through the hall like velvet thunder. 

LUKAS 

I walked into the classroom from my office feeling a little different like something is going to happen. Girls are drooling which I am used to already but I have kept myself for mate. 

I dropped my book on the desk and I looked up 

“ Good morning class” 

 As I spoke, something shifted. My senses sharpened, my heart skipped a beat. Then I smelled her scent.

A faint, intoxicating scent of wild amber and blood rose. 

My gaze locked on a girl sitting near the window. She wasn’t looking at me like the others. She seemed to be new, no giggling, no starry eyes. She was quietly taking notes, unaware of the storm she had just stirred inside me. 

My wolf stirred restlessly beneath his calm exterior.

Mate.

For the first time in years, my control slipped. I gripped the edge of the desk, my jaw tightening as I tried to steady myself. She looked up and I admitted her eyes, a deep brown with golden flecks, met mine. The connection hit us both like lightning.

The room disappeared.

Time slowed.

I saw her shock, her confusion, then the spark of recognition. My wolf growled low in my chest, urging him to go to her. But I couldn’t. Not here. Not in front of everyone.

Clearing my throat, I tore my gaze away. “Open your textbooks to page forty,” I said, voice a little too rough.

And I… I couldn't stop glancing at her.

Every instinct in me screamed to claim her. But reason whispered, She’s your student.

And that made everything infinitely more dangerous

Jessica POV 

I could feel the spark between me and the professor. 

I blinked rapidly, trying to focus, but my hands trembled as I turned the pages. My heart was racing—i didn’t understand why the new professor’s scent called to me, why my pulse reacted to his voice like that.

I heard someone hit my desk to get my attention then I snap back to reality 

“ You stand up. You aren't listening in my class.” Immediately I stood and I looked at the professor who was standing close to me. I could resist the temptation to touch him. 

I tried to reach my hands towards his hands and he moved back sharply. I could see he is trying to stay in control 

“ What do you think you are doing? You are in detention ” he moved back to the front class and continued his lecture while I sat down quietly. 

“ Jess, your first day in his class and you are in detention” Mel looked at me worried.

“ I wait in the cafeteria for you. After your detention we will be going home.” I nod my head 

We sat down quietly listening to the sexy professor for 2 hours straight. When he was done everybody picked their class and started to leave. I remained behind 

“ See you in the cafeteria,” Mel said and left.

My heart skipped, Soon, the hall was empty, I could hear only the sound of rain beginning against the windows.

“ Miss Jessica, do you have any problem with my lecture? I was stunned at his question 

“ No” I said in a low voice then he walked towards me. My heart skipped and I looked down to avoid his gaze. I can feel the tingling sensation in my skin. 

He reached where I was sitting and pulled my face to look at him.

“ Miss Jessica looks up when I am talking to you” His hands on my chin then my eyes met his. I saw his colour as if he was trying to control something inside him. Our faces met each other and we were about to kiss when he pulled out abruptly. He went back to pick his belongings and he turned to me 

“ Detention is over” he left immediately. I took my bag to the cafeteria and I saw my friend waiting for me 

“ Mel!” I shouted her name and she walked towards where I am 

“ Jess, how was your detention with the sexy lecturer?” I blushed as I was trying to recollect the scene that happened in class. 

“ Jess, are you blushing, did the professor do some to you?” I shook my head and I walked out on her. She ran towards me “ you have to tell me what happened at detention, if not you're not going anywhere “ she held me tight preventing me from escaping. 

I had to start explaining to her of the event that happened and she smiled ear to ear 

Mel stop smiling and look at me 

“ You are his mate”
