Chapter 24 Sins of Silence

Chelsea's POV

"Hey mama," he slurred, stumbling into my room. The pungent odor of alcohol announced his presence before he even spoke.

"What are you doing here?" I blinked in disbelief, taken aback by his intrusion at this late hour.

"I came to see you," he smirked, leaning casually against the doorframe.

"You can leave now. I've never been better," I snapped, my patience wearing thin.

Ethan had been distant ever since the bombshell news of my pregnancy, and I suspected he had his own suspicions about my recent doctor's visit.

"Calm down, mama. I know you're angry," he said, easing his way into the room and closing the door behind him, though he didn't bother to lock it.

"You have every right to be mad. I haven't been myself lately, and I want to make it up to you," he added, his words dripping with false sincerity. His story pulled at my heartstrings, but I refused to be manipulated like before. This time, I was determined to stand my ground and assert myself.
