Chapter 5

My Perfect Abrupt Marriage

Chapter 5

Cardyn’s

Luke folded his hands on his chest, uncomfortable about the whole situation. If he felt unsettled about it, what’s more when I was the one the most who felt used to this whole situation. I rolled my eyes at him, feeling aggravated. After dealing with Daniel the way he wanted to, I went to work – I am a manager in a restaurant.

“Why are you here?”

Luke drank the lemonade juice I made especially just for him. If marrying Daniel Manzo wasn’t enough, what’s more when Manzo’s company is near this restaurant? It only meant that I was destined to encounter Daniel occasionally.

Luke glared at my wedding ring.

“I am here to ask you. What happened to you and him?”

I sighed, “Why do you want to know? I thought you wouldn’t want to meddle in my affairs?” His lips twitched then placed the glass loudly on the table. Therefore, I warned him, “If that glass breaks, you’ll have to pay for it.”

He scoffed, “Aren’t you married to someone wealthy? Buying even one thousand sets of this wouldn’t affect your money.”

I clicked my tongue. I don’t know if this man is worried about me or not. Luke and I have the most neutral relationship. We used to be close but when I was young, I used to always prank on him until one day he got into a minor accident. Since then, he hasn’t asked how I had been. It was only after I got entangled with Daniel that he remembered I still existed.

I gulped my saliva, recalling my stupid pranks back then.

“You don’t need to worry,” I lightly smiled, “I wouldn’t tell Daniel about our relationship.”

He shook his head, “You know that marrying that kind of man wouldn’t do you no good. Take Papa for example.”

“Luke,” I warned him, “Stop hating on him.”

He had a smirk on his face. I wonder how my father is doing right now. After impregnating my mother who conceived me, he left her. They were never married so, me, and Luke had no middle names. I thought Mother would remarry after I grew up, yet it had been more than two decades.

I guess she loved my Father too much. I don’t even know if I should call him my father since they were never married – they were just live-in partners. I lowered my head.

I said to Luke, “Do you have other issues with me?”

He pondered, “Are you going to live with Daniel?”

“… I don’t want to, but I guess I have no choice.”

He sighed, “Tell me if he does something wrong,” he emptied the glass, “I will deal with him.”

I shook my head as an initial response, “No need. I will settle my matters on my own.”

“Are you sure you don’t need my help? Maybe I could be of…”

I raised my hand, cutting his words off. “I know you’re busy. You don’t need to intervene.”

From the deep sigh he took, it appeared that he gave up. In the end, he headed outside without even saying his farewell. At least he doesn’t ignore me. I have tried everything for him to forgive me for what I did back then which were all futile.

I blinked my eyes dumbfoundedly. Daniel’s assistant stared at me emotionlessly and I sighed helplessly.

“Can you tell your boss I don’t want to see him right now?”

He smiled at me and opened the door of the car. Fortunately, there were no cameras around or reporters, otherwise we have been captured together. I flinched when he got out of the car since I assumed he wasn’t in the car. I gulped my saliva, looking at him awkwardly.

“Why don’t you want to see me right now?”

I shrugged my shoulders, “I still have things to settle.”

“I called your Mother, informing her about your things,” he smirked, “And she agreed, telling me that I can get your things by tomorrow.”

I gritted my teeth, averting my gaze from him. Who does he think he is to decide what to do with my things? He forced me into this marriage and now he is also coercing me to live with him.

“Are you still sane?” I asked coldly.

He lifted a brow, “What did you say?”

I repeated, “I asked you. Are you still functioning well?”

He approached me, darkly staring at me. For a moment, I flinched but I put on a brave face.

“Woman, I don’t know where you got your courage but don’t step over the boundary.”

I lifted my face, meeting his gaze, “So don’t challenge me.”

He tilted his head in disbelief, “What?”

I gritted my teeth, “I said, don’t challenge me.”
